Brook felt his body being dragged towards the carriage by some supernatural force. His body was limp, and defying gravity as it floated into the back seat of the carriage against his will. There was nobody driving the carriage, so it appeared as if Jesse and his mom had completely disappeared along with the Jeep. That was until the two demonic horses started talking. Brook realized that Jesse and his mom were the two horses! That meant the Jeep was the carriage! Brook paid no attention to what the two were saying, but simply stared at them in awe. Perhaps it would have been better if Brook had listened to them, because what they said was very important. Unfortunately, you will never know what they said because Brook was not paying attention.
The horses drove him past mountains, lakes, and villages, but the ride still felt as if it was only a few minutes. The carriage stopped in front of an abandoned movie theater. Brook was helped out of the carriage by a tall, thin skeleton wearing a butler outfit.
The skeleton’s mouth did not move, but somehow Brook still heard the skeleton say something. The skeleton was telling Brook his name; “Auguste.”
Auguste seemed kind, and trustworthy. Despite Brook still having barely even acknowledged his own death, he seemed to understand everything about this new world. Auguste led Brook into the theater. On the inside, the theater was completely the opposite of its outside; the inside was luxurious, and peaceful. It looked as if a king might have used it as his royal theater; and maybe he was right. Auguste made sure to be gentle with Brook’s arm as he led him through the theater. Even though Auguste’s arms were cold and boney, they were delicate, and smooth. They did not hurt Brook as he was dragged through the theater; instead, they calmed him. Auguste made Brook feel relaxed, and safe for the first time since he died.
Finally, Brook and Auguste stopped in front of an almost empty room. It had five chairs neatly placed in front of a large screen. There were two chairs in the front, and three chairs directly behind them. They were old Victorian chairs with soft red cushions. Brook and Auguste sat down in the two front chairs, and then the screen lit up. Auguste told Brook (without moving his mouth again) that they were going to watch his death. Brook’s heart stopped upon hearing this. Or it would have if he wasn’t Hollow. Part of his brain was interested in this, but the other part was afraid. He watched himself walk towards the Jeep, then put his hand into the bow, but something caught his eye. Something he hadn’t seen before. As soon as his hand touched the water, glass flew around him. The Car’s glass cracked, and then exploded into a storm of glass shards flying around him. And then the screen turned dark. The video had ended. He noticed Auguste’s boney hands were shaking, and he seemed scared. Brook asked him what was wrong, and he explained. He said that every time he sees someone die, it reminds him of what happened to him when he died. And then he explained that once you die, you become alone. Unless you find a justified death. He then continued to explain that Brook’s death was justified because it was an organized death. Jesse and his mom were Imps, who were sent to take Brook’s life. Why did they have to take his life? Nobody knew, except for one person. Who is that one person? The author of this story. Brook asked Auguste what it meant to be “Hollow” and in reply, Auguste told him that to be “Hollow” was to be empty. While this definition was very vague, it made sense to Brook.
Auguste and Brook got up to leave the theater, but as they got up, Brook noticed that the previously empty seats behind them had been filled up. Sitting in the three chairs, there was a horned devil-like being, a ghost of an old lady, and a giant fly with multiple eyes.
