*later when they are dating already and not keeping it secret*
I love halloween. It’s so fun to dress up and go out with friends. By dressing up I don’t mean going full gore or getting intricate costumes made or anything, I like putting on something simple like cat ears and a little black dress. This year I’m going as the devil and Wyatt is going as an angel, it works well enough as a couples costume, I think. People would probably expect us to go as a comic book hero couple, since we both like comics, but maybe we’ll do that next year.
Wyatt is sitting and waiting for me as I get ready. He just put on his wings and halo over his normal clothes, but I’m only getting started on my makeup so he has to wait for a bit. Doing my makeup I lose track of time, but Wyatt is used to it, though. My slowness with getting ready is one of the reasons I’m late quite often (although I’ve gotten a bit better at being on time). Rather than waiting for me to show up, Wyatt likes to come to my place and wait instead, this way we can leave together.
Tonight we are going to a club with our friends. Eve and Irene are also traveling all the way here for it so it’s going to be great. I’m excited.
I’m finally ready to go, but first…
“Hey, can I take a picture?”, I ask Wyatt, barely holding back laughter.
“Sure, wh-”, Wyatt replies, but I cut him off before he asks why.
“To prove to my friends that angels really do exist”, I try not to laugh, but I love silly pick up lines.
“Ha ha so funny”, Wyatt rolls his eyes, but smiles as well.
“No, but actually let’s take a picture, it might be too dark in the club to get any good one’s later or we’ll be too drunk to remember.”, I lead him to the hallway mirror and pull out my phone for a quick photoshoot before we head out for the night.
At the club, we somehow manage to find Eve and Irene even though it’s packed with people. They’re dressed like ghouls or monsters or something, the point being that they’ve gone full out with blood and gore, not trying to look pretty. That’s the one thing me and Eve never agreed on, because I wanted to look hot and sexy on halloween, while she wanted to go for the most scary and intricate costumes possible. It’s a miracle we even recognized them and that’s only because Eve sent a picture of their costumes beforehand. It is impressive, but it must also be a pain to get off all that body paint and fake blood, is all I’m saying.
We meet other friends, drink, talk about costumes and have fun. I’m getting quite tipsy and the more I drink, the more I want to flirt with my boyfriend.
“Hi, cutie, wanna dance with the devil?”, I exaggerate the wink I send Wyatt’s way.
“You know I’m not much for dancing”, Wyatt starts to say, but when I pout at him and say, “Come on, babe”, he gives in. He always gives in to whatever I want to do. I grin and pull him to the dance floor.
As we are dancing, we keep looking into each other's eyes and smiling, our bodies close and minds a bit hazy, it feels so good to be with him. I’m so happy that we are together. I’m so happy to have him as my boyfriend. It just feels right.
I lean in close to his ear and while smiling I ask him, “did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”, then I lean back to see his reaction. He lets out a laugh at my expectant expression. “Because I’m an angel?”, his dimples are out in full force as he looks at me with an amused raise of his eyebrow. “Because you’re an angel”, I confirm and laugh. But as I keep looking into his eyes I think that maybe he actually is an angel. “My angel”, I whisper, not realizing I’ve said it out loud before Wyatt shouts to be heard over the loud music, “What did you say?”. I shake my head and just smile and we keep dancing.
We’re about to sit down at a table to get a break from dancing, but before Wyatt can sit down I give him a confused look. He stops halfway to his seat, “What?”, he says. “Are you lost?”, I ask with a serious look. “Wha-?”, he asks confused. “Because heaven’s a long way from here”, I say with a straight face. He sighs as he sits down the rest of the way, and then chuckles a bit. “How many pickup lines do you have left?”, he asks, “You know I’m already your boyfriend, right?”, Wyatt teases. “So what? I still wanna flirt with you”, I giggle.
The night goes on, we drink and chat with friends, get up to dance, drink some water - Wyatt keeps reminding me to drink water between rounds - and we party on. No amount of water between rounds is going to keep me sober, though, so I’m getting very drunk, which shows in my unsteady feet and slurred speech. Wyatt is walking me to the bathroom because I don’t think I’ll make it all the way there without help, it’s been a while since I went this overboard with the partying, but it’s fine, because I have my own guardian angel with me. I giggle at my own thoughts as Wyatt steadies me as I almost stumble.
I turn to him, giving him a mischievous look. “I mussst be in… heaven”, I slur and try to focus my eyes, “because… I’m looking at an angel!”, I clap my hands in delight and almost fall over laughing at my stupid pickup line. Then I feel sick and have to cover my mouth with my hand, but it passes and before Wyatt can ask me if I’m okay, it’s my turn to enter the bathroom and so I leave him waiting outside with a cheerful, “I’m fine, don’t worry babe!” and a wave of my hand.
When I come out of the bathroom I muse out loud to Wyatt. “I really should have dressed as an astronomer”, I say and nod my head, “yes, an astronomer”. Wyatt humors me kindly, even though it’s clear that at this point I’m just saying nonsense. “That’s a bit…random…why an astronomer?”, Wyatt asks as we weave through the crowds of other drunk people. I was waiting for him to ask. “Because I’m checking out a heavenly body!”, I answer as I wrap my arms around him and smile up at him. Wyatt holds me tight, kisses my forehead and says, “I think that’s the last one, we better get you home.”. I don’t protest, my mind is more than fuzzy around the edges and my eyes are closing, but I trust that Wyatt will get me home safely. And he does, my very own guardian angel.
