Read Cobalus: Planet of the machines :: Chapter 2: Trouble in Haywire town

A couple of days since the duo left, Zafira proceeds to yawn in boredom. "The next town should be nearby. So why does it feel like its farther away?" Says Zafira. Just as Zafira was about to get second thoughts, Neo spots the town they're heading towards. Neo makes a barking noise to get get Zafiras attention. Zafira looks to see what Neo sees. "There it is Neo. We made it to Kilowatt town." Zafira says with excitment and relief. Neo procceeds to run towards the town while Zafira holds onto him tightly. A civilian looks to see Neo run towards the town. The town civilians begin to panic and hide in the nearest buildings, mistaking Neo and Zafira as part of the Ironclaw raiders. Neo stops right before entering the town. Zafira flies off Neo and lands with a hardy "thud" on the dirt of the town. "Maybe don't grind to a sudden halt next time Neo." Zafira says with an annoyed expression. Zafira and Neo see a few raiders trying to take advantage of the panic. Neo approaches the raiders before roaring at raiders, scaring the would be crooks off. The civilians look to see the raiders running before coming out of hiding. "Don't worry everyone. we are not going to hurt anyone." Say Zafira reasuring the civilians. Just then, Zafira and Neo hear a nearby rumbling before seeing a man on the back of a hovershell turtle. "So, care to explain what all the ruckus was all about?" The man on the purple turtle asked.

The man introduces himself as Tuga Amethyst, a member of the Cobalan defenders. "I take it your not with the Ironclaw raiders, correct?" Asks Tuga. "No shit Sherlock. Care to explain what the Cobalan defenders even are?" Said Zafira. Tuga takes Zafira and Neo to the headquarters of the Defenders and explains that the Cobalan defenders serve as a counter to the Ironclaw raiders. "So your like some sort of authority organization? Didn't we do away with those due to easily corruptible they were back on earth?" Asks Zafira. "No need to worry. We don't have any government involvement at all." Says Tuga, reassuring Zafiras concerns. He explains how the Cobalan defenders are more of a commune of people who desire to help others. Neo looks at the Hovershell before Tuga tells him the name of the turtle. "Her name is Torta. Not exactly a common mekanimal around hear but we make for a good team." Says Tuga as Torta emits a confident bellow. "I'm telling you, Gregor. We have to stop the Raiders before they find the legendary mekanimal." Says a worried Francis. "And I'm suggesting we find this mekanimal and prevent the Raiders from getting it." Say a stubborn Gregor. Tuga interrupts the argument and introduces them to Zafira and Neo. "So these were the fools causing a ruckus earlier?" Ask Gregor. Tuga confirms this before being interrupted by Francis. "Sorry about the argument earlier. I am Francis Ironheart and this is my husband Gregor." Says Francis. "You're looking at the leaders of the Cobalan defenders miss. Now tell us what you were doing in Kilowatt." Says Gregor bombastically.

Zafira explains what went down back in Haywire town before questioning the leaders on the legendary mekanimal. "We have no clue what this thing is suppose to be. All we know is that the Ironclaw raiders want to use for whatever the hell they want."Says Gregor. "We do know this one rumor about the legendary mekanimal. Its said that it with either grant great prosperity or great destruction depending on the rider." Says Francis. "It sounds like a myth if you ask me. If this thing is real, then we must stop these crooks if we want to ensure the planets future." Zafira says with motivation. Gregor gives a hardy laugh at Zafiras words before taking her to the training hall. "If you really want to stop the raiders so badly, then show me what your made of!" Gregor proclaims as he call for his mekanimal, Goron the Titanokong. Tuga and Francis sit back and watch from a safe distance. Zafira gets on Neo as the two prepare to fight. "Bring it on old man!" Neo thinks to himself before releasing a battle ready roar.

Two spike-like thrusters folded up and fire a stream of energy. Neo dashes forward and hits Goron with his head before getting decked in the face by Goron. Goron begins to pummel Neo relentlessly before grabbing Neo's tail and throwing the mechanical tyrannosaur to a nearby wall. Goron begin to taunt Neo causing him to charge at the ape blindly. Neo gets an uppercut to the jaw before getting grabbed by Goron. As Goron is about slam Neo to the group, Zafira devises a plan and tells Neo to use his thrusters. Neo manages to escape Gorons grasp and realizes that there is a slight delay when Goron throws a punch. Neo charges at Goron expecting an attack. Goron goes for a punch only for Neo to dodge the attack and bite Gorons leg. Neo proceeds to drag Goron on the ground and tosses the ape through the wall of the training hall. Neo places his foot on Goron to pin him down. Goron and Gregor surrender, giving Neo and Zafira the win. "Not bad you two. Not bad at all." Says an impressed Goron.

Sometime after the fight, Zafira and Neo bid farewell to the Cobalan defenders and leave Kilowatt town. Just then they hear Tuga calling out to them. "Tuga? Torta? what are you two doing?" Asks Zafira. "You two really think you can take the Raiders on your own? We share the same enemy. Best if we tag along as well." Says Tuga as Torta gives a hardy bellow. Zafira and Neo look at each other and lets Tuga and Torta tag along. Now a group of four, the Riders and their Mekanimals head out to continue their goal. From a distance, a shadow figure looks at the group before pulling a radio out to tell their leader. "Good to hear. Time to send the troops to stop them. Stop them by any means neccassary, Sebal." Says the leader. "It shall be done, my Lord." Says Sebal before he rides off into the distance.
