So, you might have noticed that I have been gone for over a year (which was very much not the plan). Again, I give you the choice to read a longer explanation further down.
For those of you who do not what to read all that:
I'm back and hopefully for good. I have been writing when I found the time, but not as much as I would have liked to. Apparently having to write and read so much for university took away from my capacity to do so in my free time... above other things.
Longer explanation:
In the past year I have moved closer to my university. Twice. In October 2022 I moved in with one of my aunts as my first semester started, since she lives a lot closer to my university with a commute of about an hour. Commuting from my mother's place would be pretty much impossible, so it was pretty clear that I had to move once I was accepted. Unfortunately I did not have enough time between getting accepted and the beginning of my first semester to find an affordable apartment in the same city as my university... so moving in with my aunt and her family was pretty much my only choice, especially since the dorms where full and it said you have to wait two or three semesters to get a room there. My aunt and I agreed on me being able to stay with them for up to a year, while I look for my own apartment closer to my university. I finally found a one room apartment that was affordable, not run-down and accepts university students as tenants in June 2023. I started renting it in July and started moving my stuff there slowly. I'm still not completely done with the move, but I'm getting there. Unfortunately quite a few things needed sorting out. For example, my new place does not have any Wi-Fi yet (it will get installed at the 23th of September, tho). I can only upload now since I am visiting my mother for a week.
I also highly underestimated how exhausting it is to be a double major bachelor student who commutes to and from university every day. Especially since the commute often took longer than the hour it was supposed to (and I'm talking up to 5 hours at times). It didn't help that my university fell victim to a cyber attack during my first semester, which had a lot of consequences. All the websites where down and all the material you usually have accesss to on an online platform was not accesseble... and private information of students and alumni ended up on the dark net at one point... I could go into more detail, but that would take a while, so I'll leave it at that.
My second semester was better, because at one point they finally managed to get everthing to work again online.
Now I only live about 10 to 15 minutes from my university, so I hope that I will be able to schedule my time better the coming semester and find more time and energy to write.
As I've mentioned before, it is not that I didn't write at all during the past year. I just didn't find the time to upload/ do the final editing I usually do before I upload. I also do not have anyone to proofread my story at the moment. Which is how I ended up not uploading the end to Chapter 6 (The Funeral) even though it has been finished for over a year. When I started publishing this story, I had a general outline: I knew the beginning and the end, as well as some major plot points and sub-plots. Now, I have the whole story pretty much planned out (not completely, as I will absolutely fill some stuff in as I write, but in general I have a pretty good idea of what happens). I have a timeline, character sheets, etc... I have also planned and even written some extra chapters outside of the main story line AND I have planned out a prequel and sequel I can write after this story is done. Although Perfect Miracle is going to take me a couple of years to finish writing... this is not a short story. At all. The first act has 15 chapters and only about a month of time passes... the whole story goes on for over a year of the characters' lifes. But that's as far as I will go with that.
I'd be happy if you decided to stay around for all that. I am also happy for everyone who decides to read this later. I know some prefer to read only completed stories and I understand that.
That being said, despite me having been inactive for over a year and having uploaded only 6 chapters so far (and one even incomplete until yesterday) I have a total of 18 subscribers for this story, which might not be a lot, but makes me increadibly happy :)
Orphans. That's what the Clark brothers become after their parents die in a car crash. And unfortunately, they have no relatives left who could take them in - or so they believe.
Marco got kicked out by his family for being gay at the age of 17. He has come a long way since then. He is happily living with his partner of 8 years, has a roof above his head, a job, a stable income... and he hasn't been in contact with his family ever since.
He knows that his parents have both died without ever talking to him again. He expected that to happen. What he did not expect is getting a phone call in his late 30s saying that his older sister and her husband died in an accident, leaving three sons behind. Making him the only relative they have.
He'd like to help, but he has his doubts - surely his nephews would be homophobic, just like the rest of his family was, right? Despite those, he wants to try taking them, after all no one deserves to be left alone as a child or teenager...
Since Marco agrees to become their guardian after talking to his lover, the brothers get a call saying that they can meet with their uncle and his partner. While one only agrees to prevent them from possibly getting separated, another is secretly looking forward to living with the couple.
