RoaR#12
They all sat in the cellars of the old man’s house. Roar and the elf looked at each other, nodded and said at the same time.
“It doesn’t matter!”
“I’m hungry!”
The elf glared at Roar and when he saw her, he suddenly said. “Oh, yea. It doesn’t matter!” with a serious expression he then looked at the elf and gave a thumbs up.
The elf sighed and held her head.
The old man looked at them and smiled. He then continued.” As I said, there is a way to cure it. But I need a certain device in order to make it.” The old man’s expression turned somber after saying that.
“What’s dangerous about that? Old man.” Roar was confused. But the elf just looked on in silence. Roar then continued.” We just need to get it.”
The old man lifted his head and looked at Roar with a heavy expression.” The danger lies with the person who is in possession of it.”.
“How do you know all of this?” asked the elf. She was intrigued as to why he knows all this.
“Because it was taken from me by that person.” The old man paused for a few seconds and looked at the ground between his legs.” …. Before I could heal her.” Said the old man with a very sad voice.
“Was she important to you?” asked Roar.
The old man continued.” She was the light of my world”. Without hesitation.
The story that the old man had told them made a big impact on them. The elf sat down looking sad. But Roar stood up looking angry.
The old man saw their reaction and felt their sincerity.” There aren’t many people like you left in this world.”. he looked at the ground again.” I don’t want to be the reason for there to be even less.”
“I need to do this. No matter what happens.” Said the elf with a serious expression. She then looked at the glowing herb and added.” She is the most important person to me.” The elf’s eyes started tearing up.
The old man looked at her with a sad expression.” After surviving. Would she ever be happy after losing you?” he then looked at the ground again.
The elf was stunned after hearing him and didn’t know what to say.
Roar shouted.” No one is losing anybody!”. The old man and the elf were surprised and looked at Roar’s towering figure.
He went towards the elf, crouched and held her teary face in between his hands. His hands were much bigger than her face. He Looked her straight in her eyes. “Do you trust me?” said Roar. She nodded. He smiled and then wiped her tears away. He then got up and looked at the old man. “Old man, tell me what we need to do. We will get you that device and heal her sister.” Said Roar with a lot of conviction and resolve.
The old man looked at him and wanted to say something. But Roar shouted.” No one is dying! Old man.”.
The elf looked at his back. At some point she started to feel a sense of comfort and security when she saw him.
The old man saw his resolve and understood. He then stood up.” You better not. Because I will be waiting for you”.
Roar laughed. “How many times to I have to tell you this old man?”.
The old man smiled.
Roar then went to get out of the cellar. Both the elf and the old man called to him.” Where to?”.
“I want to take a s….”. he then was startled and looked at his stone. “Nature calls” said Roar after apologizing to it. He then went out and closed the door.
The old man then looked at the elf with a smile.” Your husband is a very dependable man.” he looked at the door that Roar used to leave.” Although a bit odd.”
The elf was taken aback by his statement.” What makes you think he’s my husband?”. Said the elf while trying to hide her smile.
The old man was confused at her question. “No man risks this much for someone that is not dear to him.”. the elf’s face became red at his remark. He then continued.” And I bet this isn’t his first time as well.”. said the old man with a smile. The elf did not say anything as she just sat there, red, trying to hide her smile and staring at the ground. the old man found that to be cute and smiled at her.
“Let’s wait for him to get back and discuss the plan further.” Said the old man.
“hmm” the elf was embarrassed and was able to just blurt this out in agreement.
After a few minutes passed. Suddenly the door to the cellar was violently opened. Roar ran in while holding someone on his shoulder. He then closed the door behind him and started panting. the person on his shoulder was unconscious.
“What is going on?” asked the old man, confused at why would Roar have someone on his shoulder.
The elf got up to see as well.
“Old man, you live in a dangerous neighborhood.” He then put down the person on the ground. “This guy was yelling at me, trying to catch me for doing ‘my business’ in a dark corner.” He then looked at the elf and the old man and saw their expression was one of disappointment. “What?”
“There is an outdoor bathroom just by the door.” Said the old man.
“what’s a bathroom?” said Roar with confusion.
The old man and the elf both face palmed themselves.
“Wait a minute.” The old man removed the cloak from the unconscious man’s face and saw him. “Roar!” shouted the old man.
“What did I do now?” he looked on.
“You’re a genius!” said the old man while looking at Roar.
“Obviously!” said Roar while laughing.
“What happened?” asked the elf as she was confused.
“This is our ticket to finding that person.” Said the old man while smiling.” This might actually work!”.
“Do I need to remind you old man?” said Roar with a smile.
“No need.” Answered the old man with a smile.
