RoaR#5
The barbarian and the elf walked side by side and the loud sounds of the barbarian’s stomach could be heard even from far away.
The elf looked at Roar.” Why couldn’t you hunt anything till now?”.
The barbarian looked at the elf with a straight face then looked at a bird on a tree far away, his stomach roared and growled and the bird was scared away. The barbarian looked at the elf again with a sad expression. The elf apologized.
They eventually arrived at a clearing with trees surrounding it. Roar looked at the elf.” This place seems ok. What do you think?”. The elf nodded. “You set up the camp and I will go get the food.” Then she left.
Roar was happy and singing now that he was about to eat something. “Meaty meat. Meaty meat. I won’t die. If I will eat.”. he chopped down a tree and was working on making the camp.
The elf was jumping tree to tree and going at a constant pace to get to where she hid her extra belongings and food. Once she got there, she thought to herself.” I hope this much food is enough for him.”. she smiled for a second and then turned around and went back the way she came.
Once she got back to the camp she was surprised because Roar had made two chairs, a very big fire, a tent and a place to chop wood. And he was chopping wood for the fire and sweating a lot while doing it.
The elf looked at him with a straight face.” I was just gone for a minute! How?” she was surprised at the speed which he made all the stuff. And even had enough time to chop firewood.
Roar wiped away his sweat and looked at her.” Oh? You’re back! Come, let’s eat! I made the fire!” he sat down on a chair and motioned to her to sit down on the other chair that he had made. He pulled out stone dishes and spoons that he had made. “You can put the food in these dishes to heat it up.”.
The elf, surprised, looked at him. “Dishes?”. She was really confused at the amount of stuff that he made in such a short amount of time.
Roar looked at her with a surprise. “What are we, Cavemen? to eat with our hands?”.
The elf looked even more confused. “Aren’t you one?”. she said that because he kept mentioning the cave that he used to live in and how he made a mistake leaving it.
Roar looked insulted at her comment and his expression changed to someone hurt. “Not anymore! Hmph”
The elf gave up and gave Roar all the food. He was happy and put it all on the stone pan that he had made and put it on the fire.
The elf looked at Roar confused. “Aren’t you going to eat that now? I thought that you are hungry.”
Roar looked at her with a serious face. “I haven’t eaten in many days. I want the first meal to be hot.”
The elf understood how he felt and continued.” I see that you do not understand the value of the gold coins and the gems.”
“What? You talking about those shiny metals and rocks? You can’t even eat them. Believe me I tried.” Roar was still looking at the pan on the fire while talking. It’s like his food will run at any minute and he wasn’t about to let it and risk fighting the stomach demon again.
“What?!! You tried eating the gold and the gems? Never mind. Yes. The shiny metals and rocks. They are worth quite a bit and you can buy anything that you want with them.” The elf looked at Roar with a serious expression, intending to teach him some important stuff.
“Buy? What’s that?” Roar looked at the elf with a confused expression but quickly went back to looking at the pan and then wiping the sweat off of his forehead because he thought the food was going to run away.
The elf’s expression stayed the same. She wasn’t fazed by him anymore.” It’s when you exchange these shiny metals and rocks for goods and services. You can literally do anything that you want with these shiny metals and rocks!”
Roar turned to the elf with a serious and heavy expression. “Can … I … buy …. Meat?!!!”
The elf nodded. “All the meat that you could ever want!”
Roar was staggered. he was lost for words and he even forgot to look at the stone pan that he had put on the fire. Because Roar was thinking of all the meat that he could get with these stupid shiny metals and rocks that he had no use for. He thought that whomever traded meat for these shiny metals and gems is stupid but he didn’t care for he wanted meat. “HAHAHAHAHAHA!” Roar started laughing after processing all the information that he just got.
The elf was amused by his reaction and started laughing as well.
Roar laughed for quite a while. So long that it was dark now and he was the only one laughing and the elf was just sitting there looking at him waiting for him to finish laughing so she could tell him even more. But he was still going.
Once Roar finished his laugh, he wiped away the tears that had formed around his eyes and looked at the elf with a happy expression. “Thank you, elf. You taught me a great deal.”.
The elf was happy that she got thanked. “But there is more that I want to tell you because….” But before she got to finish her sentence. Roar shouted.” NOOOOOO!!!! It escaped! I knew it. I should have kept watch over it. Damn it.” He fell to his knees and lamented his luck.
The elf stood up really fast and looked around with her bow drawn. She had felt someone approaching.” Roar get up. Someone’s coming.”. suddenly a sound of walking could be heard from the dark, outside the range of their fire’s light radius. Roar looked towards the direction the sound was coming from.
A shadowy figure emerged from the dark. He was a male with a thin mustache and black armor. He was holding a stone pan in his hand, Roar’s stone pan.” Oh my. Is this yours?” smiled the man with a malicious gaze.
Roar looked at him with a happy expression.” Oh yes. Thank you for catching it. It ran so fast that I couldn’t …” but before Roar could finish his sentence. The man threw the food on the ground and stepped on it while laughing quietly like a lunatic. Roar’s smile froze on his face.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Was this your food?” said the man with an evil smile on his face.
