It took me a while to figure out Haiden's personality. In Arc One, she was grieving her brother and was furious at the monarch for what he did to her family, but I didn't want that to be her entire persona. After a few rewrites, I think I found a nice balance between her angst and her caring big-sister nature. She protects Rea, but will also call Rea out when the latter is being reckless or obsessing too much over the jewels. She's still a crybaby though, due to her compassion, and she's also quite sarcastic, to my own surprise!
Let me know what you think about her new outfit. I hope you look forward to really getting to know her!
Born in a frigid world where the Sun never shines, thirteen-year-old Rea grows up watching her mama create intricate glass jewels, and is fascinated by the ancient legends these jewels portray. Life seems simple—until a troop of soldiers raids her home and arrests her mama. Determined to save her only family, Rea recreates jewels for a lieutenant in exchange for her mama's freedom. But she soon uncovers secrets about her own origins—secrets that threaten to erase her from the world she knows.
