Charlie shook his head bringing himself out of his deep thoughts and spoke up, addressing Elias. “Your highness, the guests are arriving soon, please sit down” Charlie said sternly and for an answer Elias grunted and stomped his way back dreading the upcoming meeting. Just as he sat down, he heard one of the knights who were waiting outside the door announce the arrival of the council. They had come to discuss about the matters of the kingdom. Elias knew that at this meeting they were going to bring up ‘that’ and it’s going to be the same answer as he gave them the last time.
“Oh, my dear highness, how are you this early evening?” The head of the council went up and bowed to the king before him asking him with a bright smile. “Well hello Luther, my evening has been splendid,” and as always Elias mustered his best forced smile pretending to enjoy the presence of the people in front of him. “I hope your evening has been good to you as well Luther.” Elias tried to converse a little because from the corner of his eye Charlie was eyeing him down like a mother who just witnessed his son being bad in front of guests and was about to get a spanking when they got home. “Ah, well your highness my evening was also sple-” before Luther could finish his sentence Elias interrupted not giving a care in the world about his evening and just wanted the meeting to start and end quickly. “Alright everyone, please get situated the meeting is about to commence,” Elias clapped to get everyone’s attention. In the middle of the big throne room there was a long oval table where all ten of the council could sit at. Many of the council questioned why they couldn’t go into one of the conference rooms to have their meetings, but then yet again they knew the answer. The king was just simply too lazy.
Everyone stared and waited until the king gave a signal for the meeting to start, so he did just that after a couple of seconds. “So today we are here to discuss the new academy that is being built for the noble children, the price for the new school is quite pricy, who will pay for it?” The treasurer addressed looking at some documents in front of him and then looking up to the king. Elias groaned in his seat, this question had such an easy answer, why couldn’t they just do this by themselves. “Just raise the taxes, I’m sure my people won’t mind helping out a bit.” Of course, the rich won’t mind but the poor were getting poorer by the day. Most of them were having to sell their land to be able to afford food. Elias was aware of this, but he turned a blind eye, in his words ‘Not my problem, they should work harder.’ One of the newbies at the table spoke up not liking the lack of thought that went to that answer. “But sir the people are growing poorer by the day, you can’t possi-. ““Shut it, I’m the king and I make the decisions, and why are you questioning me, you’re lesser than me!!” Elias yelled at the poor 20-year-old, taken a bit back, he slumped back in his seat now having everyone’s eyes on him. He regretted not learning where he stood at in this room.
“Now then, the next question, The possibility of a courtship between the king and his future lover.” If Elias could groan as loud as he could he would, but for right now he groaned for a couple of seconds, rolled his eyes, and got up from his seat in annoyance. “For the last time, I don’t plan on getting myself a lover or getting married, it’s a waste of time, I rather just drink all day till I give out” Elias hissed, ruffling his hair in annoyance. “Speaking about drinking, I’ve been craving a nice cold beer, I invite you all to my favorite Pub “The Cheeky Lads!!!” The councils’ ears perked up after hearing this, except Matthew, the 20-year-old boy who had no interest in drinking. Not wanting to miss out on the chance to drink with the king, the rest of the council gladly stood up from their seat murmuring happily with each other. Matthew sneakily tried to escape but before he could do that one of the council members hugged his neck by his arm and dragged him with them.
