Ace
When the little omega slammed the door to his apartment building on me, I was taken aback. I was happy that I had learned a bit more about him and got under his cool exterior, even if it felt like I had gotten the tip of the iceberg. For the first time today, he showed an emotion other than distaste for me. Hell, he even thanked me.
I pulled out my pack of cigarettes out of the pocket of my leather jacket and pulled one out of the package, and I put it between my lips, lighting it. I inhaled a deep breath of the cancerous material and leaned my head back, holding my breath for just a few seconds before releasing the smoke.
I rolled my eyes when my phone began to buzz in my pocket. I pulled it out, not even glancing at the screen.
“‘S Ace,” I mumbled with the cigarette hanging from my lips.
“Hey Ace, I wanted to know if I could do some business with you?” A thick Russian accent responded.
Dominic.
His gang was seedy on its own, but of all of them, they were one of the better ones I liked to deal with. Because they were more than willing to get what they wanted, and they never tried to stiff me when they were needing guns. Half of his gang would cause a ruckus, and the other would offer businesses and homes their ‘protection,’ and when someone didn’t pay their dues, they’d trash the places that they dealt with. Seedy but reasonable compared to what I’d seen in my life.
“What’re you needin’?” I asked.
“I need around a couple hundred or so pistols.” His muffled voice responded. “My men need a little protection, it seems. In the last week, we had six of our men get killed.”
“It’ll take me a while to get all of that. You know I buy the parts separately, and we assemble them. It’ll take around 6 or so weeks to get that many ordered and assembled.” I started walking down the street.
“Can we retrieve them daily until we have the amount we need?” He hummed on the line. “We’re having a problem, and I want to get rid of the rats.”
“I mean, it’ll cost ya if you’re wantin’ me to rush them.”
“Fair enough. We’ll be by tomorrow evening to pick the first of them up.” The alpha’s voice held urgency.
The feeling of a storm brewing for not only them but us as well, seeing as we had the same problem as of late, caused my stomach to knot up.
I nodded in response, knowing he couldn’t see me. “My second in command will be there to assist your man. I’ll be busy tomorrow evening.”
“Good, good. Thank you, Ace.” His voice perked up a bit.
“Bye.” I pulled the phone from my ear and hung up on him, not wanting to speak to him further.
I had been trying to lay low after getting James the painting he had wanted. He ended up stiffing us a hundred grand, but a bit of lost money wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle. It just meant I wouldn’t help him in the future. Typically I would have killed a few of his gang members in front of him to show my dominance, but after what had happened with the Ivory Serpent gang, I was on my toes to not fuck with others. Even though it wasn’t us who initiated it.
When I got to the nicer part of town, I located my vehicle and slid into the driver's seat. The roar of the engine echoed in the parking garage, making me smirk. I began my drive home, which was easier during the middle of the night because most of the city was asleep.
My thoughts drifted back to the firey-haired omega, softening my smirk into a smile. Even though he had a rough night, he still had spunk and a smart mouth to boot. It was one of the many qualities I liked about the boy.
I liked the way he melted into my grasp, the way his lips trembled. Even though it was in fear, it made me think of how his lips would tremble with my cock buried deep inside of him. His hair was soft, and my fingers had tangled into his beautiful curls. If the scenario were different. If those fuck faces hadn’t touched the omega, I would have loved to devour him. They were scum, not only intimidating the poor boy, but they had tried to do something to him that would have made me put a bullet in each one of their heads if I had arrived even a moment later than I had.
The law didn’t protect omegas. They only protected alphas, which made some feel like they had a right to do anything they pleased with the poor things. In the Red Dragons, I made it clear if anyone did anything to an omega that wasn’t consensual, I would put a bullet into their head. They knew I meant business, too, because examples needed to be made in order to maintain integrity.
Just because we did the dirty work didn’t mean that we lacked morals. If they wanted to do shady shit, they very well could go to another gang run by a slease. But it wouldn’t be done under my watch.
Tonight was a good reminder of why I insisted on keeping the integrity we held.
Micah had a full-blown panic attack, and I was surprised he let me touch him. I was equally surprised he let me know that his treatment for his heat was failing on him. His scent was becoming more potent by the day. When I first met him, it wasn’t obvious, but it was almost like a light powdery floral scent with a hint of peach. As the days went by, the scent morphed into a strong peachy smell. Almost irresistible. It damn near made my cock hard at the thought of his smell.
I shook my head, rubbing my face quickly to keep my focus on the road.
I hit the push-to-talk button on my steering wheel, “Call Lucca.” I commanded. My car responded and connected me to my second in command.
“Sup boss.” He sounded muffled.
“I need you to get something for me.” I furrowed my brows.
“On it. What do you need, boss?” He asked.
“I need you to get the best heat suppressants on the market,” I responded, flicking on my turn signal.
“Got it. How much do you need?” He asked.
“At least a few months of supplies. Also,” I blushed at the thought. “Get a heat sating kit as well.”
“Will do.” Lucca responded, “I gotta let you go, boss. Someone just arrived for shipment.”
“Thank you, give them to me tomorrow morning when you come in.” He hummed in response. “Be careful.”
“Yessir.”
I ended the call, pulling into the parking garage of my condo. I parked my car and waited a few moments, checking my surroundings before I got out. I slid out of the vehicle with ease and made sure the doors were locked behind me. I walked through the parking lot swiftly, pressing the button for the elevator call button.
I felt awful that Micah had been attacked, but then again, in a way, I was thankful. It brought him closer to me. My alpha called for his omega, and when I saw him tonight, it was instinctual that I needed to take care of him. Any good alpha would help an omega in need.
It made me regret having to stay late for a work project that needed to be done as soon as possible. Maybe I could have walked him home tonight and avoided that confrontation altogether.
But I knew the reality of him letting me walk him home before tonight was a slim to none chance. I knew that he’d probably tell me to fuck off, give me the finger and tell me to go fuck a cum bucket or something. I shook my head, smirking at the thought.
The elevator arrived and opened up. I pulled my wallet out and swiped my card on the elevator to go up to the penthouse on the 50th floor. I leaned up against the elevator’s wall, waiting for the elevator to reach its destination.
The elevator dinged, indicating that it had arrived at its destination. The doors opened, and I stepped out of the elevator into the hall. I pulled out my card key and swiped it on the door’s keypad, and it clicked, unlocking it. I opened the door and stepped inside my large apartment. It was stagnant inside. No life breathed from the walls. It was a large empty house.
I bought it when I took over the Red Dragons. In the hopes of finding an omega to marry and have children with. When most of the alphas, betas, and omegas that clung to me weren’t what I wanted. I felt those that had to try to cling to me were affiliated with other gangs in one way or another. In a way, it felt as if I were a political prize in someone else's scheme. So I quickly discarded that dream and focused on work.
When I bumped into Micah, something awoke inside of me.
One that wanted to claim ownership of him.
