Mark
Just as Ruby had instructed him to do, Mark was keeping his gentlemanly behavior as he escorted Minerva all throughout the building back to the entrance. It was a painful journey for this 20 years old male, especially when this pent up woman kept on rubbing her breast on his arms as she clung onto him like he’s her lifeline.
Mark heaved a relieved sigh when they two arrived at the entrance.
When he was about to shrug off Minerva from him, the woman suddenly leaned near him and then caressed his face in a seductive manner as she hushed, “You are a fine young man. Want to have some fun tonight?”
Mark’s lips curled into a lopsided grin. While wrapping both of his arms around Minerva’s back, he pulled her close as he replied, “I’m sorry, but I have given my heart to the woman who served me egg sandwich.”
Minerva’s brows creased as she shot Mark a weirded look. Meanwhile, Mark grinned at her, while actually waiting for the bodyguards to take her away.
The bodyguards appeared out of nowhere, grabbing Minerva roughly by both of her arms and dragged her away even though she screamed to be set free. Shortly after that annoying woman disappeared from sight, Mark returned inside the building.
Ruby
It didn’t take long to reach the place where Karl ordered Mia to be taken to, or should I say, the main mansion.
While the servants of that grand looking building escorted us to Mia’s bedroom, I noticed Raul has been looking restless. His face contorted into a look of reluctance.
After arriving at the bedroom, we were just in time to see the doctor leaving the room and was talking to Karl.
“Boss.” Karl paced towards Raul and bow down his head respectfully. “I had been trying to call you but there’s no answer. I thought something happened to you.”
A nonchalant expression returned to Raul’s face as he shrugged it off, addressing it as ‘something came up that he wasn’t able to answer the call.’
He then entered the room, followed by me, Mark and Karl.
Inside the room, the maids were tucking her to bed after changing her clothes. Due to the substance that one of the underlings used, Mia is still yet to gain her consciousness.
“She is still yet to wake up, but the doctor said that she is completely fine.” Karl informed, probably is basing on the information the doctor gave him before the doctor left.
Raul responded with a passive nod. Somehow, I could see some emotions flooding inside his eyes as he stares as Mia. I don’t know what he’s thinking, though he’s probably reflecting himself right now.
Raul stopped staring at his wife a few moments after that and told Karl and all the others to leave the room except for me and Mark.
He spent another few seconds being silent again before he genuinely speak a word.
“Thank you so much for your help.” He began, his head tilted down a bit to our direction. “Though I know I could do this all by myself.”
And shut down the airport as well as giving the others a hell lotta pain? I don’t think so.
I tried to keep the sheer amount of annoyance to myself as my lips curved into an indignant smile.
“Of course. You have everything, even so, I don’t think Mia would easily followed you back even if you appeared in front of her in the airport. And even after this…” I paused, tilting my upper body to the side to see Mia’s figure who’s sleeping soundly on the bed. “Even after this, it won’t be easy to convince her to return to you.”
The furrows of Raul’s eyebrows deepened when I said that. True enough, I might be able to hand Mia to Raul without much physical damage, but after this, all lies on him to confront his wife and apologize.
Before the stillness once again engulfed the air, I shuffled my feet to change my standing posture. The sore from carrying all the weight while running is still there on my legs.
“Anyway, I probably should go home now. Momo can’t be left long or she’ll throw a tantrum.”
“Momo?” Raul commented, with an eyebrow raised.
“My fat, fluffy munchkin cat. Besides, I assume all the problems between us is settled, alright?”
Raul suddenly burst into chuckling—surprising both me and Mark—while his hand slipped into the pocket of his black long coat. I was about to open my steps to run away while Mark was shielding me, probably had the same idea of what I have in mind.
Fortunately though, Raul only took out the cheap lighter that Mark had stolen from him before. This time, a gentle smile is plastered on his face.
“Mia gave me this lighter as a present one day. Since then, I myself am surprised at how precious this lighter had become to me.”
I mouthed an OH, before shooting a I-told-you glance at Mark who is now guiltily scratching his bushy hair.
“Once again, thank you for helping me. And yes, all the dispute between us have been solved.” Raul then pointed at Mark. “I’ll forgive you because you are related to her.”
His not so menacing threat gained a nervous laugh from Mark. He then scurried to my back and stayed quiet.
I chuckled towards Mark childish behavior. Although he’s bigger than Raul, he is quite immature sometimes.
But it’s okay because he’s unexpectedly cute.
I nodded to Raul in response. Before leaving the mansion, Raul asked for my phone number which struck me as strange and almost heightened my sense of alarm.
“It’s just a matter of precaution.” Raul tried to smile to not look too intimidating.
I face twisted into an obvious grimace. Although I am highly skeptical of what this suspicious Mafia King wants to do with my number, in the end, I gave him the number and left the mansion with Mark. Secretly, I hoped that the day Raul would call me wouldn’t come anytime sooner after all the problems are solved.
Yet how wrong I was to think of that…
