Chapter 06.2 | Horizon Blues
Continued
After the First Shot
X finds himself in front of the mirror once again. This time getting ready to go out. Seok said he’ll be find as long as he wears plain clothes, a cap, and it be dusk. However, dusk was still a ways away.
“I wonder where he’s taking me?” X overlooks his clothing choices. Out of everything Seok bought him, this is the best he can do with ‘normal’ considering everything is designer clothes. A pair of black jeans with ripped designs down the thighs, with a black short sleeve shirt, the collar purposely loose. He slips on the baggy jacket with light grey underneath it. Lastly he puts on black gloves. I guess this is alright.
He comes out of the bedroom and to the living room where he stops dead in his tracks. Seok is grumbling over his phone, his hair still a black mess. He threw on a wrinkled black suit shirt, tucked into matching black pants. A black trench coat overhangs his tall body, donning a black scarf. X bites his lips, his heart begins beating quicker, but this time it’s not bad like those last times…it feels weird.
Seok glances up from his phone and at X, then back down. As he does this, he grabs a black cap from the couch and places it on top the Omega’s head. “There.” He taps on his phone as he signals towards the door. “Put those boots on.” Seok slips into his shoes one handedly, his other hand still preoccupied with the phone. X slips on the knee high black boots and zips the sides up.
“Let’s go.” Seok plainly says.
The two of them walk out of the penthouse and down the hallway to the elevator. Seok presses the Garage level. As they walk out, X notices how there seems to be no one else and the garage is empty except for a sleek dark blue car.
“It’s so empty.” X says out loud. His voice echoing through the garage.
Seok, who began furiously tapping away on his phone with his thumb, blankly replies. “It’s one of my penthouse buildings. No one else lives here, except when need to, like right now.”
“Oh….” X knows Seok is considered a Director of a company, what type and which is still unknown. He knows he has money and is very important. What the hell do you do to have this much money and be able to slack off at work just to help me?
He must be important… very, very important.
Seok takes out his car keys and unlocks the car. “Get in, I just need to take a quick call.”
X nods and hops into the passenger side door. As he clicks the seatbelt in, he flinches out of his skin from the sound of Seok yelling.
“Do you know how annoying it is you keep fucking texting!? Yeah I fucking finally called…I would block you but I need you for X just until I find a better quack than you!” The corner of Seok’s mouth curls up aggressively. “You’re acting like a complete psycho Aston! You sure you’re a beta? Right now I can mistake you for an overbearing omega bitch!…yeah I said that, you deaf too?…..it is only a car ride and a little sightseeing…..because he did well with the shot! Plus, you even said the omega’s mentality goes hand in hand with Pheromone Shock, getting him out of small ass place for a couple hours can really be helpful, don’t you think doctor?”
X grumbles. Oh God they’re talking about me….and small place? The penthouse is five bedrooms and bathrooms plus another bathroom just for guests…how is that small….?
Seok throws his phone to the ground, completely breaking it. He lights a cigarette and leans against the door, X doesn’t know what to do except bite his lips in anticipation. He clenches the seat belt that wrapped across his body.
Suddenly Seok opens up the driver’s door and gets in. He slicks back his hair and sighs.
He doesn’t say anything to X. “I..um…sorry about your phone.” X whispers. Trying to end the silence.
Seok pops out another phone form underneath his coat. “Why’re you apologizing? I have another that bastard doesn’t know the number to.”
“I, uh, heard you talking about me. You’re arguing about me and it caused you to do that with your phone…”
“It’s fine. Aston gets worried for nothing all the damn time. It’s fucking annoying as hell.”
“But still I wanted to say sorry! I mean I—”
“Then apologize for ease dropping.” Seok starts the car up. He throws his arm around the back of the passenger seat and looks behind them as he backs up. X’s eyes find themselves looking down as his heart begins to beat erratically. He can smell the cologne Seok has spritz on himself.
Seok presses a button centered on the middle console. A massive door splits in two, and slides apart, leading to the outside. Seok drives out and down a gravel road. A metal fence opens just as they arrive at it. X notices guards in grey suits.
The car makes its way into the city.
X looks out the window as Seok drives effortlessly through the streets. The sky a turning orange as the sun tries to make its way down. X watches the people and the buildings pass by as it slowly turns to the mountainside.
Seok is quiet the whole time he drives, leaving X to gaze upon his surroundings outside. Soon they arrive in an area occupied with forestry and foliage. Seok turns up a dirt hill. X looks on, watching them pass trees, with the sunshine peering through each one, not realizing the warning signs plaster throughout.
Seok makes a turn upwards and soon on top of a small clearing. He stops the car.
“We’re here.” He announces.
X looks out the window and can see they’re on top of a large hill, trees around them, with a white tone marbled sitting area. Seok unbuckles his seat belt. “It’s safe here, come on.” He steps out of the car. X, a little nervous, does the same. He slowly exits the vehicle.
Seok walks a ways towards the edge of the clearing, X follows suit. He gasps at the view. They stood at the top of a hillside, below them a watery void — angry waters clashing against boulders.
It is the sea.
“Woah.” X looks on, gazing at how beautiful the water was, sparkling from the sun setting downwards. The water so majestic. “Where are we?”
Seok peers over at X. A little satisfaction overcomes him from his initial reaction. He nudges X to follow him. “Come over here and sit down.” Seok leads him to the elongated marbled table he had noticed earlier. Stone slabs for chairs reside beside it.
They both sit on top of the table, staring forward. X is silent, watching the view with pure satisfaction. Seok takes a cigarette out and lights up.
“It’s beautiful out here.” X whispers. Seok looks over at him.
He blows out a drag. “We’re on the outskirts of Puleun Dosi. The sea you see is the Oceanic Ocean.”
X looks on at the wild waves. “Is Puleun Dosi an island or…?”
Seok chuckles a little. “You really don’t know anything do you?”
X becomes red. “Don’t make fun of me!”
Seok peers at X and hints a smile. “I’m just having a little fun.” He takes a drag. “Puleun Dosi is a sin drenched city trying to be a pristine virgin coastal town…it’s a city where people are forgotten or go to just to be forgotten. Ironic for you though.” X looks down. Seok continues. “The city is on Haneul Peninsula…far off there are three other islands that are a part of the Haneul territory.”
“I like it...It’s quiet here…plus it was quiet when I found your house…lots of trees and space.”
“That’s why I brought you here. It’s quiet, secluded, plus I own it.”
X laughs under his breath. “Own it?”
“I bought this land a while back for something. I haven’t had a need for it for some time but then I figured you’d like it, so it’s good for something now.”
X tightens his fingers together and keeps his head down to try to hide his blush. He mumbles something under his breath.
“What?” Seok glances over at X who is slumped over.
“I um….where do you think I came from then…?”
He looks back at the sea. “You came from somewhere you shouldn’t have been in the first place.”
His blunt yet ambiguous answer makes X look right up at Seok’s face.
X tries to hide his discomfort with a laugh. “heh, yeah…I wonder if I’ll ever find out… or if I do want to find out.” X suddenly stands up. “Is what Aston says true?”
Seok pauses. He watches the Omega standing, looking on into the endless waters.
X continues on. “About that black market? Where I might have come from? He told me, back in that room that day… a lot of things. There might a lot of bad people coming, they may hurt you, I may be taken and I’ll….” His voice trails off.
Something heavy is put on X’s shoulder. X looks up to see Seok using his shoulder as a resting spot for his arm. So Heavy…. “It may be true.” Seok admits. He flings the dead cigarette onto the ground, the dirt still moist from the previous rainfall. “Aston… he worries until he seems like he’s being a dick ass bitch. The doctor side of him wants to help and protect you, the friend side of him wants to help me and prevent anything bad from happening. Those two side are colliding. He’s always been like this since we were young. Trying to help everyone but ultimately he can’t.”
“I’m putting you at risk… you hurt your hand that day, you fought with Aston and got punched…wouldn’t it be better if I did go to Aston’s personal clinic? If I do…we can probably get more answers and you wouldn’t—”
Seok leans more on X’s shoulder, “Oi, if you do that, I won’t have anywhere to rest my injured arm and hand won’t I?”
X fumbles with his fingers. “I’m not your resting pole….”
Seok peeks down at the Omega. “Heh, well you’re my new housekeeper, might as well be my resting pole as well...I mean you did bite my hand twice plus I cut myself. How can I clean?”
Seok doesn’t answer X’s question directly, instead they look on to the sun setting closer to the tumultuous horizon.
They both look on.
Seok pushes off the Omega. “C’mon, let’s go. You might be hungry after all that running around you did earlier…such a wuss.” Seok turns around to head to the car. X scoffs, “I’m not a wuss! Those things are..scary.” He trails behind Seok. “Keep making fun of me, I’ll keep biting you, you bastard.”
Seok can’t help but laugh at him. “If you keep biting, I’ll keep needing a housekeeper and resting pole.” Seok hops into the car. “I wouldn’t mind that.” He shuts the car door. X comes in right after. “What did you say?” He eyes Seok, thinking he’s being made fun of again.
He starts the engine. “Nothing Omega, now hurry up.”
X buckles himself in. He decides to just ignore Seok. As he navigates around the clearing to head down the hill road, X quietly asks. “Can…I come back here again?”
“As long as you take the shots.” Seok jokes.
The omega chews a bit of his lip. “What about after I don’t need the shots?”
Seok momentarily falls silent.
“When you don’t need the shots anymore…” he begins his descent down the hilly dirt road. “You can come here whenever you want.” His smiles disappears.
X’s lips curl upward just a bit. “You better let me.”
“Like I said before, I never go back on my word stupid Omega.”
