Chapter 8
It had been a few days and at that point Zavier was fed up with the weird dates, despite his mothers annoyance, Zavier had narrowed the dates to once a month. He still wasn’t sure what had possessed his mother to suddenly urge him to date; however, when had she ever made sense anyways? His mother had always been strange and while she was level headed with politics, family matters were a whole different thing.
Regardless, Zavier felt that his mother’s mood swings were the last of his worries. He felt like he had made both a lot and no progress with Kaine. Sheila was relying on him to get Kaine to the point where she didn’t have to worry about him randomly trying to murder people. Not to mention get Kaine to trust her enough to tell her who paid him to try to assassinate her.
While these thoughts raced through Zavier’s head, he stood in front of his mirror again while trying to decide on an outfit. Annoyingly, his anxiety was not letting him do that in peace either. He had been staring at two outfits for the past 15 minutes while questioning his fashion sense and sanity.
“Maybe I should just pick a new outfit.” He muttered as he overanalyzed the clothing situation. After a groan, he closed his eyes and picked up the first pieces he picked up.
Prior to this, he ended up with the dark gray t-shirt, silver studs, platform boots with probably too many useless zippers, and a gray jacket. And throughout this entire ordeal, Zavier questioned why he was even worried about his outfit. It wasn’t like he was doing anything out of the ordinary; he was just going to try to give Kaine some form of therapy that wasn’t across a desk.
However, he brushed that thought away and started his quick travel to Sheila’s building. After finding his way to her office, he was met at the door by Kaine, who looked like a happy puppy with his scarlet red hair a mess and his blue eyes sparkling. Kaine had also typed up the entire situation that he wanted Zavier to know.
Basically, he had found some random dog while on a walk with Stephan, Sheila’s assistant. And he had apparently almost attacked the unsuspecting creature due to it startling him, thankfully Stephan had intervened before he could’ve done so. So apparently Kaine then got to play with a dog and Stephan got to test his reflexes. Moral of the story, don’t surprise Kaine, regardless of your circumstances or reasons.
Kaine was a confusing man, he didn’t ever seem to act hostile, but then he is also unfazed when discussing violence. He was a mysterious character that even Zavier couldn’t figure out. Not that Zavier is all too good at figuring out true intentions, lies, or really any deceiving sort of thing or person.
