Chapter 6
A week had gone by and his mother had yet to contact him about another date, which was very good news to Zavier. The therapy sessions with Kaine had continued smoothly and Zavier was surprisingly happy with how everything was going with him. Despite his reservations with speaking, when Kaine used the band to type what he was thinking, he was very clear and helpful.
Zavier wasn't entirely certain as to what Kaine had gone through still but he was glad that he didn’t seem to have any major social issues or anything of that sort. It was during one of their therapy sessions that Zavier’s mother contacted him again.
“One moment Kaine,” Zavier told Kaine as he checked the message. After reading it, he groaned and Kaine looked at him with a confused, concerned look in his sapphire blue eyes. Zavier rubbed his temples with the tips of his fingers and sighed.
“What’s wrong?” Kaine typed and clicked the function that had an AI read the message aloud.
“My mother just wants me too…” Zavier paused with a grimace as a new message popped up, he covered his mouth, “Wow, that is… So concerning.” He stared at the image that had been sent. It was a woman named Sally with puke green hair, purple eyes and almost rainbow colored clothing that was off colored and badly dyed. She wasn’t ugly in and of herself, but if that was her style then Zavier would not be able to deal with that at all.
Kaine frowned at Zavier who simply showed him the text and picture in silence. Kaine stared at the picture of the girl and shuddered.
“Do you happen to want to come with me?” Zavier suddenly asked and the red haired man simply looked at him in silence for a few moments before shrugging and nodding. Zavier sighed in relief. “The other woman I went on a blind date with was an hour late and honestly insane, so I’ll be glad to have someone to help in case of something like that.”
Later,
Zavier helped Kaine off of the hoverbike and they started walking toward the entrance of the park that Zavier’s date had suggested to go to. As they strolled toward the pavilion, Kaine started to walk in front of Zavier with a confident stride which was unusual. Kaine usually walked beside or slightly behind Zavier. He tilted his head at Kaine with a confused look on his face for a moment before he shook it off and they reached their destination.
Sally was already sitting at the pavilion with her puke colored hair and washed out rainbow colored clothing. She immediately got up when she saw them with a shocked look on her face.
“You look nothing like the picture that was sent!” She ran up to Kaine and grabbed his hands, Kaine’s sapphire eyes widened and he pulled his hands away with a shocked look on his face.
“That’s because he is my friend, not the one sent on the date.” Zavier calmly informed her as he put his arm over Kaine’s shoulder and looked at Sally, who was shockingly taller than she looked. Sally looked Zavier up and down with a frown.
“You looked better in the photo.” She critiqued, “Next time, send a photo that actually looks like you without the editing.”
“Lady, I don’t even know what photo you saw!” Zavier said in exasperation and Kaine looked at him with a confused but sympathetic expression. Sally quickly pulled up the photo on her wrist band hologram and showed it to him. Zavier frowned at the photo for a second, “Why do you have a photo of my dad??” He asked in shock after he realized who the man in the photo was, Sally’s eyes widened,
“Your dad?!” She exclaimed and Zavier nodded, “Is he single?” Sally asked with a sudden smirk and Zavier choked on air for a moment before he stared at her.
“Absolutely not, he is married.” Sally’s face fell at his words and Zavier shook his head before finishing his sentence. “And also in jail.”
