Hi friends and supporters! Once again posting an update to let you know that I’m still working away at Arc Two. This past month, I’ve been continuously editing and revising the first draft of the script, filling in plotholes and adding layers to the characters. It’s coming along really well and I’m excited to start the character design illustrations soon. Can’t wait to introduce y’all to the new characters!
But while you’re waiting for all that to happen (thank you so so much for your patience!), I thought I’d share the original Mama’s Jewels! I mentioned before that this manga started as a short story and has gone through drastic changes. Instead of listing out the changes, I thought I’d just let you read the short story and find the differences for yourself.
It is sort of a long-ish read, so I’m breaking the story into four parts. I really hope you could leave some feedback! It’d be so cool if you could let me know what you notice and whether you think the changes in the manga were made for better or worse.
Born in a frigid world where the Sun never shines, thirteen-year-old Rea grows up watching her mama create intricate glass jewels, and is fascinated by the ancient legends these jewels portray. Life seems simple—until a troop of soldiers raids her home and arrests her mama. Determined to save her only family, Rea recreates jewels for a lieutenant in exchange for her mama's freedom. But she soon uncovers secrets about her own origins—secrets that threaten to erase her from the world she knows.
