Chapter 1
Zavier trudged along the streets of the capital of Phosen with a frown on his face. His title of prince had been stripped away, albeit gently, by the new king and queen and since then he had been in search of a job. Zavier had already attempted to interview at countless places, to no avail. It was then that the former prince found himself face to face with his own reflection. He had nearly walked into a puddle in the middle of the street, had he not snapped out of his rambling thoughts a moment earlier.
Zavier studied himself, his usually put-together image was a bit disheveled at the moment. His black hair was sticking out everywhere and his blue eyes had a depressed hint to them. His tan skin had lightened a bit as well due to him not wanting to leave the house much at all.
As Zavier fixed his hair and sighed, the band on his wrist suddenly lit up. He tapped a small button on it, causing a holographic image to pop up. It was a text from a woman that he was sort of terrified of, her name was Sheila. He grimaced and shook his head. Not today, Zavier told himself.
The band continued to beep and light up as he walked, as time passed, he got more and more curious. At last, he let out a long sigh and opened up the message; it read:
"Zavier, I have an assignment for you." He paused at the first sentence, since when did he apply for a job with her? Zavier shook his head and continued to read. "I've found someone for you to use your usually useless therapy skills on." Zavier scoffed in annoyance and stared at the text, Sheila always had a way of making even compliments sound like insults.
"What's in it for me?"
"You might get a friend for once." She replied and Zavier stopped walking again and glared at the message.
"I do have friends!" He exclaimed loudly and immediately regretted it as he got weird looks from the people around him.
"I'll ignore that rude comment and I still need the answer to my question." Zavier huffed as he sped his pace up to avoid any more strange stares.
"Alright, fine. I'll pay you." Sheila decided and
"How much?" Zavier grinned,
"We'll decide later. Meet me tomorrow at noon in my office."
"I don't know where your office is." He reminded her immediately,
"Stephan will show you." Zavier grinned and started skipping down the sidewalk without paying any attention to the people around him.
"Jackpot." He smiled triumphantly.
