“Good morning,” Logan said to Kyle with a smile when he saw him enter the coffee shop. “It's your fourth day working here and you're already coming in late,” Logan said as he watched Kyle put on his apron.
“I would come in earlier if you gave me a key so I don't have to wait for you to open,” Kyle answered back before flashing a cocky smile, as if he was telling Logan to give him a key already.
“I'll think about it,” Logan said with a dismissive tone of voice. “Can you put the open sign, please?” Logan said, with a pleading tone, from the doorway of the backroom. Kyle sighed and did as Logan told him; he was his boss, after all.
After half an hour and only two clients in the coffee shop, Kyle started growing bored. “Is it always like this? There's barely anyone. How aren't you broke yet?” Kyle said while leaning on the counter.
“Pretty much, yeah,” Logan said from his chair behind the counter. “Sometimes I think it's just a storefront for laundering money,” Logan said while laughing softly. Kyle looked at him surprised at the revelation. “Is not true,” Logan said in a disappointed tone to Kyle, he couldn’t believe he really believed that. Kyle sighed in annoyment and went to clean one of the dirty tables from previous customers.
As Logan watched Kyle clean the table he saw from the front window Ian and Max approaching. When they came in they waved at Kyle and went to the counter where Logan was already doing a black coffee for Ian.
“Your usual,” Logan said with a wink to Ian as he left the black coffee on the counter. When he saw that Ian was going to pay he stopped him. “No need to pay me, we are friends,” Logan said, still grabbing his hand.
“But, I have to pay for what I buy,” Ian said, trying to get out of Logan’s grasp.
“Think of it as a manager discount, that’s until they catch me then you’ll have to pay again,” Logan said in a humorous tone. Ian decided to not argue it and grabbed the free coffee.
“Do I get free things too?” Kyle said from behind Ian and Max with the dirty dishes from the tables.
“Yes, but it’ll be discounted from your salary,” Logan said while laughing.
“That’s not fair,” Kyle said feigning hurt.
“I’m your manager, don't complain,” Logan said with a stern and humorous tone to Kyle. “You want something Max?” Logan asked him, Max has never ordered anything from the store so Logan didn’t know his usual.
“A hot chocolate,” Max said, hiding a bit from Logan, he still was a bit scared of him after Logan revealed that he was a demon hunter.
“Got it,” Logan said before turning around to make Max’s hot chocolate. “Here you got,” Logan said to Max and handed him the hot chocolate. “Bye,” Logan said with a smile as Max and Ian left the coffee shop.
“I don’t know how you are the manager, you are supposed to charge people not give things for free,” Kyle said to Logan, he really didn’t know how someone like him ended as manager.
“I’m not a manager because of my performance but because of my time working here. I've been working here since I was sixteen.” Logan said as if it was obvious. “People normally work here for a few months and leave so you can’t have the manager changing every few months so since I don’t plan on going anywhere I'm the manager.” Logan explained further how he got his position.
“Okay,” Kyle simply said, he didn’t know that Logan had been working that long, every day he learned more things about him.
As Logan was showing Kyle how to organize the counter of pastries he saw a hooded figure from one of the side windows of the coffee shop, he didn’t really show it but he cared about the store and didn’t want anyone messing in it.
Logan followed with his eye the hooded figure until it entered the shop. At the sound of the chimes that the door made when someone came in he excused himself from Kyle and went to the counter.
“Good morning,” Logan said with a smile. Logan couldn’t see their face since the person was wearing the hood of the hoodie and was looking downwards to the menu. “What can I do for you?” Logan said with a professional and amicable tone to the person. The person simply pointed in the menu what they wanted. “You’ll have it right away,” Logan said still in a professional and amicable tone before turning around. The person went and sat down at a table as Logan made their coffee.
“Here you have,” Logan said as he left the cup of coffee on the table. As he continued to show Kyle where the different pastries were placed and when he had to place them he still continued watching the hooded person, there was something inside of him that was telling him that something was going to happen. Before he knew it the hooded person was gone and nothing happened. “Maybe I judged too quickly,” Logan thought to himself.
“Can you do me the tiny little favor of cleaning that table?” He asked jokingly to Kyle.
Kyle sighed but complied. “Why don’t you do it yourself?” Kyle asked as he left the space behind the counter.
“It’s part of your training,” Logan said dismissively.
“The customer left something,” Kyle said loudly to Logan from the table while he was holding a thick, brown envelope.
“Let me see,” he said as he approached the table and grabbed the envelope. “Let me see if they are still nearby,” Logan said as he exited the coffee shop and looked around it. The streets were completely empty.
“No luck,” Logan said when he arrived at the counter again, leaving the envelope on it. As he was leaving it he saw that it had something written on the back. It was Logan’s name.
“Why are you opening?” Kyle asked Logan when he noticed what he was doing.
“It has my name on it,” Logan said as he grabbed the content from inside. When he saw what was in it his eyes opened in fear and he turned around so Kyle wouldn’t see.
“What is it?” Kyle asked curious.
“Nothing,” Logan answered with a smile. As he was looking through the contents of the envelope a piece of paper fell to the floor. He picked it up before Kyle saw it. It was a handwritten note with the sentence: "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body." Another bible verse, this time 1 Corinthians 6:18. The inside of the envelope had pictures of Logan from last Sunday, Aaron’s service. There were a few of him outside and inside the church but mainly there were pictures of him having sex with the other guy in the church bathroom.
Logan quickly put the envelope, pictures and note in the front pocket of his apron and as if someone was watching him his phone vibrated, indicating that he had received a message.
He grabbed his phone from his jeans pocket and saw that an unknown number sent him a text.
“Aren’t we supposed to not be on our phones?” Kyle said to Logan.
“Is important,” Logan answered, brushing him off before going into the backroom.
When he checked the text it was a video of him having sex with the other guy, the pictures wasn’t everything they had, whoever the person or people that were doing this. Alongside with the video was an “I’m sorry” text. Logan answered the text, asking who it was. There was no response or texts or anything, just the video and the apology.
Logan leaned to the wall in defeat and slid onto the cold floor of the backroom, he couldn’t avoid the tears that were threatening to fall from his eyes so he let them fall free through his face. He cried silently in the cold and empty backroom for a few minutes until he remembered that he was at work, he got up, dried his face and waited a couple of minutes behind the door to recompose himself before going out to the front again.
“It must’ve been important, you were in there for a while.” Kyle said to Logan when he left the backroom.
“Family stuff,” Logan said with one of his usual gentle smiles before going to attend a client that just came.

“Thanks for bringing me,” Logan said to Kyle as he handed him his helmet.
“No problem,” Kyle answered. “Are you okay?” Kyle said with a bit of hesitation, he didn’t want to bother Logan.
“Yes, why?” Logan asked him.
“Ever since you got that envelope you’ve been acting weird,” Kyle said, with a bit of concern in his voice.
“It’s nothing, don’t worry,” Logan said while waving his hand to brush it off.
“See you tomorrow,” Kyle said before leaving.
“I’m home,” Logan said loudly once he entered his home.
“Dinner is almost ready, dear,” his grandmother said, peeking from the kitchen door.
When Logan was walking towards the stairs he saw that the fireplace was on, he walked towards it and without thinking about it twice he dumped the whole envelope in the fire. He didn’t know who was behind it and he didn’t care but he was certain that no one would ever see those pictures. He watched them burn until there was nothing left but mere ashes. He hadn’t told anyone that he was gay and he was planning on keeping it a secret until he moved out from this town, he was only staying there for his grandmother. Since the death of his mother he has been wanting to leave that town.
After burning the envelope and pictures he went upstairs to his room and changed into something comfier. Before leaving his room he left the rosary that he had been wearing on his wrist all day in his bedside table, he didn’t want his grandmother seeing it, at least not yet.

When Logan arrived the next morning to the coffee shop he saw that Kyle was already waiting for him.
“You are here earlier than me, and on a Saturday. If you keep this up I’ll give you your own keys soon,” Logan said jokingly to Kyle before seeing that Ian and Max were there too.
“Just because we are friends doesn’t mean that you can come before opening hours, you know?” Logan said to Max and Ian as he opened the door.
“We are not here for coffee,” Ian said coldly.
“Then for what?” Logan said while gesturing them to come inside, the morning cold was too harsh for just being September.
“We wanted to talk to you,” Kyle said, there was no trace of his usual cocky and confident self, he seemed serious.
“What is it?” Logan asked in concern, it seemed very serious.
“Are you gay?” Ian asked harshly.
After hearing Ian direct and harsh words Logan was left speechless, the shock in his face was evident. “What? No I’m not,” he denied quickly after getting over his initial shock.
Kyle, Ian and Max looked at each other as if they were talking between them and finally Ian handed Logan his phone.
“You are not?” Ian asked as he slid his phone through the counter with the video of Logan having sex with another guy in the church’s bathroom playing.
Logan looked at the phone and he felt as the weight of the whole world was falling on his shoulders, the weight was crushing him mercilessly and there was nothing that he could do about it other than let him crush him and cry.
“How,” Logan started saying, his voice breaking. “How do you have it?” Logan asked, his voice breaking while looking down with tears falling from his eyes to the countertop.
“Someone emailed it to me,” Ian said, showing Logan the screen of his phone with the email.
“Does anyone else have it?” Logan asked with a low tone of voice, tears were still coming from his eyes.
“I do,” Max answered, showing his phone to Logan too. “I think a lot more people have it,” Max continued saying as he showed the forward section of the email that showed dozens more of email addresses.
“What?!” Logan exclaimed with a hint of desperation in his voice as he grabbed Max’s phone and looked at the email addresses himself. He didn’t know any of those people but now they all knew him.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Kyle asked Logan, this time his voice was truly soft.
“I’m sorry,” Logan started saying while crying. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he said while crying more each time that he said it. “I didn’t want to hide it,” Logan said crying, his words almost unintelligible, while putting his hands on the counter so he could lean on it and not fall to the floor. “But i didn’t know how to-” he started to say, still crying when Kyle interrupted him.
“It's okay,” Kyle said while grabbing Logan’s hand that was shaking. “We don’t care,” Kyle said softly while putting his hand on Logan’s face to lift up his face so he could see them.
“You don’t care?” Logan said in between sobs while he looked at the blurry images that his friends were because of the tears in his eyes.
“We don’t,” Kyle said again while grabbing Logan's hand to reassure him.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” Logan said in between cries and sobs.
“I can take care of him from now,” Kyle said to Max and Ian as he looked back at Logan that was seated in his usual chair behind the counter, at least he wasn’t crying heavily anymore, just a few occasional tears.
“Okay,” Ian said in a relieved tone of voice, he didn’t really know Logan that much but seeing him in that quantity of distress made him feel bad for him.
“Are you sure?” Max said while looking empathetically at Logan.
“I’m sure,” Kyle answered while opening the door to Ian and Max.
“Are you okay?” Kyle asked once he was beside Logan.
