After having hot lights shining on you all night the four bandmates actually find the dry humid air refreshing.
“You better text in the group chat every day. You’re not allowed to replace us,” Tommy said as he crushed Delilah and Percy in a hug.
Toby hummed in agreement not wanting to join in on the sweaty group hug again. He instead settled for two classic Toby side hugs when Tommy finally let them go.
“We could never replace our favorite bros,” Percy cooed, ruffling the two blonde boys’ hair.
“And you’ll definitely come visit during every holiday?” Tommy questioned.
“Of course, T Man,” Delilah smiled.
Tommy pouted, “shit. I’m gonna miss you guys so much.”
Tommy hugged them again before finally letting go only because they were going to miss their train if they waited around any longer.
The brothers watch the other half of their band walk away into the night. As soon as they were out of sight Tommy turns to Toby, throwing a sweaty arm over his shoulder.
Toby usually isn’t a fan of physical affection or touch but he and his brother used to always hold hands everywhere, even in the bathroom, so Toby doesn’t mind when Tommy hangs off of him.
And on the contrary, Tommy is a big physical touch guy, it’s how he shows affection. All of his bandmates quickly adapted to the high amount of hugs Tommy gives out every day. Sometimes they don’t even notice when they’re hugging Tommy, they’re already programmed to know that when Tommy throws his arms out it means he wants a hug.
“There’s a back-to-school party over at Jessica McAvery’s house. Was thinking of celebrating there. You down?”
“Mm… no sorry, Tommy. I already made plans to spend the night at Kailey’s. Since she moved to the all-girls school this year, we won’t see each other as often. Especially since I’m on the student council.”
“No worries, Bubz. You spend time with your girl, I’ll meet up with Max and his friends.”
Toby crinkled his nose, “you’re still friends with those guys?”
“Yeah? Why not?”
“I don’t know. There was a rumor going around that one of Max’s friends drugged a few girls’ drinks. Luckily when they realized they were feeling off and called one of their friend’s sisters. Turns out their drinks were roofied.”
“Yeah, but no one actually knows if it was Lucas. It’s just rumored. And one of the girls starting the rumor was Melanie. She might have been getting back at him for dating her best friend after they broke up.”
Toby shrugged. They had reached a point where they had to spilt up. Kailey’s house was in the opposite direction of Jessica’s.
“Text me when you get to the party. Are you gonna crash at Jess’s?”
“Probably not, all the rooms are usually occupied and if they aren’t they were at some point,” Tommy joked.
“Then text me when you leave and when you get home.”
“I will. You too, Tobes.”
Toby nodded, side-hugging his brother goodbye before they split up.
Tommy hummed as he walked, scrolling through Twitter to read all the comments on their hiatus tweet. There were a lot of good luck wishes but one specific tweet caught his eye.

This Patch person is right. It wouldn’t be Devil’s Four Angels when you’re missing two of the angels. Tommy liked Mason’s tweet anyway. Just to keep everyone on their toes.
He knew he was at Jessica’s house just from the blaring of the pop music. They’re bound to get a noise complaint soon and hopefully, it’s not from the cops considering everyone in the house is probably underage and there is most likely a shit ton of alcohol.
Tommy🙂: At the party
Bubz🧸: I just got to Kails. Please Tommy, don’t forget to text me. And don’t get in a car with anyone. If you need me to pick you up I will.
Tommy🙂: ik I will dw
Toby really acts like the older brother here despite him always being the shy and scared one out of the two. Even though they were only a year apart, Tommy was the older one.
But Toby’s worry wasn’t just coming out of nowhere. When Tommy had gone to his first house party alone because all his friends were busy, he’d accidentally gotten way too wasted, and one of his equally wasted acquaintances offered to drive him back home.
The guy was speeding and ended up running a red light. A car ended up hitting the back of their car on the passenger side. If his friend was going just a tiny bit slower the car would have rammed right into the passenger seat, crushing Tommy.
The glass from the shattered window on Tommy’s side ended up flying into the side of his face, cutting it up and getting into his ear and the doctor said he was lucky his hearing wasn’t affected by the shards that got in there.
When his family arrived at the hospital his parents were red-faced and teary-eyed but Toby walked in with a totally blank expression, not saying a word to Tommy until their parents left the room.
Toby’s face contorted into a look of fury and pain he looked like he wanted to punch and hug Tommy at the same time.
“Are you a fucking idiot?” Toby seethed, tears streaming down his face. Toby was always gentle, never yelled, and never used foul language but this Toby was different.
Even though he didn’t raise his voice it felt like he had just screamed the question in Tommy’s bruised and cut-up face.
“I told you to watch how much you drank because you’re a lightweight. Did you listen, Thomas? Mom and Dad have told you to never get into a car with someone who’s intoxicated. Did you listen to that, Thomas? Were you not in the same class as me where they showed that video of a family talking about how their daughter died because she got in a car with her drunk friends?”
“Toby…”
Toby clenched his fists and sobbed, “When the police said you got in an accident and that you were on your way to the hospital unconscious and losing blood-“ he cut himself off, breathing hard and glaring at Tommy with so much love and hate.
“You are my brother Tom. My best fucking friend. I thought you were going to die.”
Now Tommy had tears streaming down his face, he held his arms out for Toby and his brother fell into them.
“Sorry. I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry.”
Tommy shook the memory out of his head.
As soon as he walked into the house his ears and nose were assaulted by the ear-bleeding music and the strong smell of weed, alcohol, and sweat. It was so humid in here that condensation was starting to build up on the walls.
He needed a drink.
Making his way toward the kitchen he shot a text over to Max.
Thomas: where r u
Max: grass
Grass? This idiot.
Tommy poured himself a drink and made his way to the backyard. Sure enough, Max and his friends, Tyler and Lucas, were lying in the grass off to the side, passing a sloppily rolled joint around.
When Max spotted him, he leaned up onto his elbows and called out, “Yo! Thomas Jamamas! Did you know a video about you is blowing up right now?”
“What video?” Tommy took a seat on the grass and Tyler passed him the joint with a nod of greeting.
“You going around making out with thirty-four women,” Max lied back down, clicking his tongue. “And women say they hate fuck boys.”
“Thirty-four? I thought it was twenty,” Tommy passed the joint to Max.
Lucas laughed, “Shut up, man! You’re really soundin’ like a player now.”
Tommy downed the rest of his drink.
“Bet you can’t relate,” Tyler smirked.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Lucas sat up.
“Nothin’. Just that you can’t even get laid even when you play dirty,” Tyler remarked.
Tommy squared his shoulders, narrowing his eyes on the two boys.
“I wasn’t expecting one of them to suddenly decide she’s doing some spiritual sobriety thing in the middle of a drinking game. Crazy bitch.”
Max burst into laughter, obviously high, “Crazy bitch.”
“What’re you guys talking about?” Tommy gripped handfuls of the grass beside him.
“You haven’t heard?” Max giggled, “Lucas was trying to get back with Melanie.”
“Shut the fuck up, Max!” Lucas shoved his foot into the boy’s side making him yelp.
Tommy glared at Lucas, “are those rumors actually true? You drugged a group of girls?”
“It wasn’t like that man. I was just trying to… I don’t know, okay!”
Tommy stood completely up, “you don’t know if you drugged a group of girls? Are you fucking serious?”
“Mel was playing fucking hard to get! She was basically asking for it the entire night!”
“You’re fucking disgusting!” Tommy threw the grass he had in his hand at Lucas and walked away, fuming.
Tommy🙂: left party
