Note: This chapter is in the pov of Gabriel
I looked around, trying to find Cassian as I helped various people. Where did he get off to? Wasn’t he following us? I approached the area where I swore I saw him earlier.
“Cassian?” I called. “Cassian?” Where is he? That kid he was with is gone too. “Cassian?”
Somethings not right. I looked around again, stopping when I made eye contact with Leondre.
I gestured for him to come over.
“You okay?” He asked. “Where’s Cassian?”
“That’s what I’m trying to work out.” I replied.
“Didn’t he follow us?”
“Yeah.” I sighed. Where is he? Whats going on.
“Then he can’t be far.” He looked around.
“Yeah.” I looked around.
I paused. The kid Cassian was helping was now at a different pile of rubble. It looked like she was begging somebody.
“Hey!” I ran over. “Where’d the kid you were with go?” I crouched down to her level.
“What kid?”
“The kid you were with.” I replied.
“Oh.. him.” She sighed. “Yeah, that’s a sad story.”
“What?” I got a knife out. “What are you talking about?”
“Hey! No, calm down.” Leondre looked at the knife.
“I am calm.” I told him.
“He had to go home.” The girl smiled.
“Home?” What is she talking about?
“I can show you, if you’d like.” She grabbed my and Leondres hands as we were enveloped in darkness.
