Lievpad, Juablo and Paula walked through one of the halls, slowly making it towards the dorms. There were dark lights on their left and right, as the windows didn't let much moonlight in.
"So, did you find anything?" asked Lievpad.
"No! I found nothing!" Paula raised her finger.
"Eh?!" Juablo looked at her. "...and we did all of that..." he muttered.
"But one path leads to another, after all." she stared forwards, smiling. "Because of my little venture, I managed to explore about half of this basement!"
"Is it that big?" continued Lievpad.
"No... I just have no sense of direction." she looked away.
"Ha! You can be glad that we immediately located you!" Juablo raised his voice. "Otherwise you'd change into a puddle, just like you Singularity!"
"Je vais te maudir." Paula muttered.
Lievpad suddenly stopped, turning around. "Someone's following us." the others halted too.
"Hehe. Well, I can't keep walking in shadows all the time." A rather peculiar voice could be heard coming from the hall. Steps echoed, as a man with a hat and a tuxedo faced the three. "After all, the light will shine, sooner or later."
"Who are ya?" asked Juablo.
"To you, I might just be another teacher in this academy. If I didn't encounter here you right now, you might've already had an opinion on me based on the math I will teach you." he walked up to Juablo. "But to you, boy. I can be a good friend, depending on how you handle this situation."
"If you're a teacher, why didn't you go with Mari, Mr Fabio and Mr Daruma?" asked Lievpad. "Do you not trust them?"
"Well, let's say that I'm a free spirit." he looked at Lievpad, kneeling. "How was that? The thing you just fought? Was it scary? What did it feel like?"
Lievpad gulped, stepping back.
"You're trembling." the man added.
"Are you really a teacher?" asked Paula, sweating a bit. "I-If so..."
"If you wanted to ask if I was the one who released that monster, unfortunately, that would be far from the truth. However, I can tell you that I knew about its existence beforehand. It's up to SYSTA to find out what actually happened this night." he turned around. "Tomorrow, Mari will tell you to forget all about this incident. Of course, you're the heroes at this moment, but afterwards, everyone will be forced to forget about your deeds." he started marching. "Just so you know..." he turned his head a bit.
"This school hides more than you may think."
He walked away, taking a turn. The three stood there for another moment, before walking forwards too.
"A." Paula made a noise, as she saw a student in front of her.
"Huh? What are you three..." the guy spoke.
"You're Nivel, from our class!" Paula pointed.
"Huh? Nivel? Hasn't he gone missing too?" Juablo asked.
"O-Oh..." Nivel raised his voice, fidgeting with his fingers. "I wanted to go to the washroom... but then the alarm sounded, and I... hid in the toilet for all this time..." he explained. "Sorry if I made you worry..." he looked away.
"Don't worry about that! I didn't even know your name-" Paula suddenly smacked Juablo.
Lievpad looked at Nivel.
"You!" Fabio put his hand against the wall, stopping the man with a hat. "Enzo Garzo... don't wander around acting as if none of our rules obeys you."
"Hehe. What are you so mad about, Teacher Fabio?" asked Enzo. "A show can't happen with only the actors on stage. I was simply trying to get ahead of this problem in time." Enzo tried slipping away, but Fabio put another hand there, angry.
"Just because of your stupid contract with Statooship... it doesn't make you immune." continued Fabio.
Enzo opened his mouth, revealing a bullet on his tongue, which then dropped onto the ground. Fabio moved back. "Someone tried shooting these three kids. You'd be thankful." Enzo fixed his hat. "You don't do your job, Fabio. Putting an excuse of caring for others to work as a teacher doesn't mean you're actually teaching them anything."
A meeting has been held with SYSTA and Erra. Quickly, however, RISK joined. They talked about the sudden appearance of the monster, and how it could've affected the three students who attacked him willingly, out of their choice, despite being told not to.
RISK criticized SYSTA for not making the school safe enough that things like these would've happened, also leaving questions about the origin of the monster, which were left unanswered.
Nagamiuya Ohman, the representative of the current RISK party and Konda Farlow, the 48th party of SYSTA.
"I have to deny your allegations, Mr Ohman," Konda said. "Since Singularities developed, not much advancement happened in our society. Sure funding and focus on Argentina lead to a completely revamped train system. Our vehicles can even compete with the speed of Shinkansens-"
Nagamiuya slammed his fist onto the table. "What would happen if normal humans were to find this one out? All you... weirdos only cause problems."
"I might understand your anger and fear, but I don't understand why you called yourself normal. Singularity users, as well as ones without them, are both human, Dullum and Prophriet." he fixed his glass. "Besides, this is only the beginning of a new era. In a few years' time, these monsters may appear as common as Prophriets themselves."
"And what?" Nagamiuya asked. "Will you let them roam and kill?"
"I'm hopeful that with potential advancements, we will be able to rule out such possibilities. Of course, we'll keep watch of anything that may happen in this school. So, case dismissed?" he stuck his hand out.
"You perfectly know that's not the way it works," Nagamiuya muttered, fixing his coat. "One day, I'll get all of these students out of there, for their own good."
"RISK and SYSTA are like Yin Yang, don't you think?" Konda asked, smiling. "But which side is white, and which one is black?"
It was now April.
Ah, April. It sure is a month. I think.
Rico was standing on the stool in the library, trying to put a book on a higher shelf.
"Should've put a magnet there..." he thought, grinding his teeth. "Phew phew, haha." he looked around, before struggling with the book a bit more. "I wish I wasn't this short. On the other hand, this stool could've been taller."
He slid the book in, before looking at the other one. He turned his head to his left. "I can reach it from here," he smirked a bit, before extending his arm, and stepping closer to the opening. "Come on..." he thought.
He took one more step, however, this one caused the stool to almost tip over. "Gaah!" Rico began falling.
At that moment, a flash of lightning appeared in the library. Rico covered his eyes.
"Huh? It doesn't hurt?" he asked himself, before opening his eyes and looking up. "Mm!"
"Are you okay? I walked in and I noticed you were about to fall!" Ben raised his voice while holding Rico in his arms.
"Aah... I'm fine." Rico moved away, coughing for a moment. "You know, I'd probably be fine if you didn't do that... I'm not that weak." he looked away.
Ben picked up the book from the ground, looking at its cover. "Soul meets soul-"
"-o-on lovers' lips." finished Rico, putting his hand over his face. "Prometheus Unbound," he added.
"Hm." Ben smiled. "It's always the most random of books that get you hooked." he put it on the shelf with ease.
"W-Well, I wouldn't call it random." Rico rubbed his hair. "There's always some rule behind what you pick from the shelf..."
"I meant to get back into reading this school year. Some books are so cool, after all!" Ben stepped around, as Rico followed him. "Would you recommend anything to me?"
"Um..." Rico looked around. "Since Prometheus Unbound is a lyrical drama... do you like these types of books?"
"I like all books!" smiled Ben.
"Of course you do, Mr Everything!" thought Ben, grinding his teeth. "Well..." he looked over towards the shelf he knew was filled with romance books. "Aah! Pick something at random! Close your eyes!" he rubbed his hair in a panic.
"But you said there isn't anything random-" Ben raised his finger.
"Forget it!" he raised his voice.
The time has come for what everyone dreaded in the academy. No more walking around and doing "nothing in particular". No more sightseeing, no more fighting strange monsters in the school's basement on casual Fridays.
Lessons. Precisely! Class A-1 will have a Spanish lesson with their beloved teacher, Mariano Kai!
"Hello, class." Mari walked in through the door, put down his bag, and sat near the desk. "I can see that you're as excited as I am." he looked at the class. Everyone had stone-cold expressions, except for Ben, who was actually thrilled.
"Look at you, Spanish lover..." Juablo muttered, looking at Ben and grinding his teeth.
"I am indifferent," Lievpad spoke loudly.
"Okay, don't worry. I'm probably gonna be the best teacher of Spanish you ever had, my beloved little spikes." Mari said, looking at a paper. "I assume all of you know this language since I'm speaking in it at this moment. I'm pretty confident... maybe besides Chogi."
"Huh?" Chogi raised his voice.
"Great! I took all of the time last month to learn all of their names." thought Mari. "But it was easy since I associated something with everyone." he stood up. "The principle of Spanish is remembering certain things. If you want to know a fancy word or be able to read good literature, you must associate funny things with unfunny things. Do you... get what I'm saying?"
The class remained silent. "Please don't doubt my teaching methods with this collective silence!" Mari raised his voice. "Okay..." he backed down. "If even Ben isn't saying anything, I'll start with a more interesting topic, Argentinian Spanish versus other iterations of that language. If you could write that subject down in your notebooks-" Mari looked to his right, seeing a familiar face through the window. "Give me a second." he walked to the door.
"Fabio..." mumbled Mari, in a low tone, as Fabio waved at him. "What do you want? Don't you have your own lessons to take care of?"
"Mhm! We just did the Singularity Test." nodded Fabio. "I can be sure now that my class might be even better than yours! But I'll have to see this in English lessons."
"Did you come here just to mock me?" asked Mari.
"No, no!" Fabio shook his head. "I wanted to know how your test went."
"It didn't happen yet, and I'm kind of in the middle of something here-"
"Wait. Did you forget about the test?"
"No, it's just going to happen at a later time. I'm not a forgetful person. I still remember that shitty cologne you wore on the first day of school."
Fabio looked away.
