"You know, Amigo. I'm glad that nothing as bad happened. Just a couple of bandages and plasters... it would be really bad if the damage was long-term." said Juablo, scratching his cheek.
"I think... it would be a sign that I'm advancing," Lievpad responded, as his hands glowed pink. The monkey plush jumped up twice, before heading towards Lievpad, and jumping into his arms.
"Ha!" Juablo smiled, raising his eyebrows. "Let me try!"
"A water bottle..!" Rejire opened his mouth slightly. "Wo!"
"Hahaha!" laughed Paula, putting her hands on the plastic bottle. "What's your Singularity, Rejire?"
"I'm kind of a fish," Rejire responded.
"Huh?"
"Yeah, it's... embarrassing." Rejire looked away.
"No, no! Tell me more, ami de l'eau!" Her eyes lit up.
"What?" Rejire looked confused.
"Eh, Chogi. It's pretty simple," explained Leira.
"Uhhh... I feel so stupid..." he replied, putting his hands over his face, and then petting his monkey. "I shouldn't have lain on the desk... it's so... absorbing."
"I barely catch up to you when you're overly happy, so I'm kinda glad we're not doing this that way instead," added Leira, smiling lightly.
"I must apologize to Mari after this!" Che raised his voice.
"Heh. Whatever floats your boat." Leira put one headphone in.
"Leira, I'm really envious of your laid back style." he turned to her.
"After people tell you the same things over and over again you just get used to it."
"This plushie kind of looks like you, Lievpad," said Juablo.
"Why?"
"Its expression never changes." Juablo looked at the plushie, then at Lievpad, then at the plushie, before laughing a bit.
Mari breathed out, smiling. "I'm glad it's all going well." he looked at Leira, who showed Che how to inject energy, as he started jumping around with excitement.
He then looked through the window, seeing Fabio standing outside. Mari immediately dashed forwards, opening the door. "Don't you have your own class?!" he raised his voice.
"We already finished that lesson. I was curious how you were handling it," stated Fabio, looking to the side. "But I guess I'll have to see your class for myself when they have their first English lesson." he smiled lightly. "Anyways, I'm off." Fabio turned on his heel. "There was something I needed to do."
"Wow." thought Mari. "That was our first interaction without him saying anything about-"
"Oh by the way Mari, what is your type-"
"Leave," responded Mari.
"You're so cruel..." said Fabio running inside.
Mari sighed, taking a step back.
"Umm... Mari?" Che stepped out of the classroom. "Now that I'm calmer. I'm sorry. I had a really hard night. Thoughts came storming in, I got stressed, and..."
"Nah, Leira already told you everything, didn't she?" asked Mari. "I was worried that you weren't going to catch up."
"Ah, well-"
"You don't need to apologize. Besides, I often see you as an energy ball, skipping through the hall. Be that way, Che."
"Huh..." Che looked forwards. "Th-thank you!" he raised his voice, before turning around.
"One more thing." Mari stopped him. "Do you mind if I also call you Chogi? Rolls off the tongue better," he added, smiling.
"Of course!" Chogi smiled. "Wewewewew!" he ran into the classroom, excited.
(Rejire fell asleep. Paula was confused, but also started laughing, saying some French words.)
The cafeteria was placed next to the big hall where the students gathered and ate their meals.
"One off." Lievpad took off a plaster.
"Do you have to do this while I'm eating, Amigo?" asked Juablo.
"We've been sitting here for forty minutes," added Lievpad.
"I'm hungry, okay?" said Juablo, eating a chicken wing and drinking yerba mate.
"Chogi always carries that capuchin with him," said Ben. "I think it's kinda cool!"
"When did you appear?" asked Lievpad.
"Just now! Hahaha!" laughed Ben.
"Meh." Juablo swallowed the food in his mouth. "Looking at him right now... he's even feeding it." he pointed, like Philip, Chogi's monkey ate some bread.
Chogi quickly drank something from his cup, before turning to Leira, and spurting random words, highly energetic. She covered her ears, as he continued.
"These two do not match each other's energies," stated Rico, sitting next to Juablo. "Or she might as well just be getting used to the environment. I'm having some trouble too."
"WHY IS EVERYBODY COMING HERE AND WHY ARE WE ALL COMMENTING OUR CLASSMATES?!" yelled Juablo.
At the girl's dorm, near night.
"Will you ever get off that phone, Paula?" Leira asked, covering her head with a pillow. "It's so bright."
"Just a minute. I'm almost done with this Croatian lesson!" she responded, smiling.
"Do you want to learn every language in this world?" asked Leira, smirking.
"Exactement!" responded Paula. "That way I would be able to learn every little thing about everyone!"
"Kinda creepy." she turned over. "Why are you even in A-Class, then?"
"My Singularity doesn't have things to do with my polyglot dream! Haha!" added Paula.
"Paula! You better go to sleep! We're going for a run in the morning!" stated Marta, pointing.
"What," Paula said, in a monotone voice.
"You heard me right, ha! 7 am, three laps around the 500-meter field! Great way to start the day." Marta said, enthusiastically, jumping on her bed.
"Marta, just because you have your life together doesn't mean we have to get involved," Leira added. "I'm going to sleep."
Paula put down her phone, rubbing her eyes. She noticed Marta smiling at the jar next to her bed. "Your Singularity doesn't deactivate itself?"
"Well, the fireflies are still there, they just sometimes go to sleep." The fireflies moved around in the jar. "They're helpful fellows!"
Paula smiled for a moment, before going to sleep.
Days passed, but basic classes still weren't there. While most students were content, Ben was occasionally complaining about the lack of maths. Of course, Juablo scolded him every time.
"I thought the school was already big enough," said Lievpad, walking down a set of stairs by himself. The stairs looped around a pillar, before finishing near a door. "I wondered where everybody is." he opened the entrance, as everyone was already inside. "Ah. I'm late," he said aloud, before quickly running to an empty sit in the second row. The seats and desks were three long half-circles.
"Five minutes late," Juablo added. "But the teacher isn't here yet."
"Mari?"
"No, someone else," responded Juablo. "I asked Ben."
"Why does he know everything?" asked Lievpad.
"No clue, Amigo!" shrugged Juablo.
All of a sudden, the teacher came into class. His dark hair, with red endings extended to his elbows, revealed his red eyes as he moved some of them. Lievpad immediately caught eye contact with him, as the teacher stopped. Then, he looked away and continued walking toward the board.
"He doesn't speak much," added Chogi, who was sitting above Juablo and Lievpad. "He teaches the C-Class, and history lessons."
"Without speaking?" asked Juablo.
"Yeah, I'm wondering about that too."
Lievpad kept looking at him.
The teacher sat down for a moment, turned on the computer, and showed a slide show. One with his name.
"Daruma Issai," Lievpad whispered to himself.
The slide show was full of pictures on today's topic, candles. Singularity energy fused with special wax and fire can create a unique flame for everyone, and with said flame, many other things could be made or done. For example, you can create a candle, which when lit will give everyone in the area energy to keep working. The effects of the candles are different for each Singularity type, which means they can repeat.
Daruma walked around the classroom, giving everyone a candle in a box, each one with a different colour, all without saying a word.
"This means that the different colours would mean different enhancements for each of our Singularities!" Lievpad overheard Paula's voice.
He turned the candle box around, as he saw a rose pattern, engraved on its side.
"Oh, a rose, so pretty," Juablo added, looking at it. "Wait, we haven't received any matches. How are we supposed to light these up?"
"Maybe..." Lievpad put both of his hands on the candle. In just a moment, a fire appeared on the wick. The smell of roses filled the area around him. "...like this."
"Oh yeah. We did... learn about that," said Juablo, looking away.
Daruma looked at Lievpad for a moment, and he glanced back.
"So, what does this do?" asked Paula, as she moved closer to the two.
"Huh?" Lievpad looked at her, confused. "As in..."
"What's your Singularity type?" she asked.
"Manifestation," responded Lievpad.
"Whew! Pure strength!" her eyes lit up.
"Strength..?" asked Lievpad, putting the candle in his hands.
"Hey, what would my candle make?" asked Juablo, as Paula turned to him.
"Oh, I don't care," she responded with a bored expression.
"HEY! WHAT'S YOUR DEAL?!" Juablo raised his voice.
"Ah. You're just a bit..." she smirked. "Dumb."
"HE'S NOT ANY SMARTER THAN I AM!!" Juablo pointed to Lievpad.
"?" said Lievpad.
"Ah, fine! I'll learn myself!" Juablo moved the candle back, looking away with a sour face.
"Anyways! Lievpad!" She turned back to him, smiling. "Each candle has unique wax, doesn't it? It makes it smell better, and it also gives off different effects! I know this is boosted by Singularity energy, but I can't help but wonder about the physical compound."
"What does your candle do?" asked Lievpad.
"Heh." she raised her finger. "My type is Affection. Which means... invisibility..!"
"Where would that be useful?" asked Juablo, but she ignored his question.
"It smells like grapes and apples, at the same time! La pomme!" she smirked.
"You know your stuff on this subject," said Lievpad.
"Heh! I did some research..." she looked away.
"All the info is on the board in front of you," added Juablo, bored.
"OI SHUT UP, WON'T YOU?!" she pulled his hair.
"WHY DID YOU EVEN SIT HERE, HUH?!" Juablo yelled back.
Daruma covered his ears.
Paula squeezed Juablo's hand, as he quieted down, looking away awkwardly.
"Lievpad!" she raised her voice. "Candles are so cool, aren't they?" she asked.
"Can you stop switching between these two modes?" asked Juablo.
"I never asked for your input, imbécile," muttered Paula.
"Well, if it's strength, then it's always something. But what does define strength in this aspect?" Lievpad looked at the flame.
"It's a temporary boost for all of your statistics!" she explained. "Power, speed, control and the stamina you need to use to perform these actions. It's all so much better."
"So strength, in the most literal way," he stated.
"Exactly!" she added, as Juablo gave up on the conversation in any way shape or form. He stood up and walked further away.
The board in front of them switched slides. This new one described the positive aspects of using the candles.
"Singularity training becomes easier with them..." Paula added, turning to Lievpad.
As in, if you use your temporarily strengthened Singularity during training, it will remember what it could do back then, extending the threshold.
"I still don't get how something like invisibility would help." Lievpad looked down.
"Don't you get it?" she smiled. "I think it's pretty obvious."
"Sorry. I really am not the brightest," he spoke.
"Not what I meant!" she waved her hands, before slamming one on the table. "I'm a very chemical girl. I wonder about every little thing that makes states such as these. Back when I was younger I did so many experiments, and to this day I think I might be sick from smelling all those things! Haha!"
Lievpad moved back, slightly.
"Don't you wish that these effects could be permanent?" she asked, as Lievpad's eyes widened. "All the time, you could make yourself invisible at the snap of your fingers, with just a tiny speck of Singularity energy. Seeing all those little changes between wax. It leads me to think that there might be something like this, already at the school. Hidden somewhere, out of our reach."
Daruma looked over at Paula, as she started whispering.
"Why would they hide it?" asked Lievpad, as she moved closer.
"This entire school is shrouded in many mysteries. I'm sure you're also wondering what that massive, endless pit near where the badge challenge takes place is."
Lievpad opened his mouth slightly.
"A permanent strength boost."
"We just need to find it." she kept whispering. "Would you join me, ami?" she asked.
"Wheeh!" Juablo stepped in. "Too close!"
"Oh, Juan Useless Roldán stepped in," she stated, in complete seriousness.
"No, don't get too close, okay?! He's too dense to understand if you... um..." Juablo looked away.
"?" added Lievpad, with passion in his voice.
"Besides, yer dumb voice is so loud that I heard everything, so it's not even a secret!" continued Juablo.
"I will thrash you," stated Paula.
