"Lievpad, go on." Lievpad heard a voice behind him, that he didn't recognize. "Nothing to wait for. Shape your future."
He turned around, but no one was there. He brushed it off and ran forwards.
After entering the main building, he walked through one of the empty halls, with windows which allowed light through, and three chandeliers, hanging from the tall ceiling. He made a turn, walking down a dark staircase, only illuminated by small lamps that stuck out from the walls.
Lievpad scratched his neck, before hearing chatter, not far away from him.
He turned to his right, before seeing two massive open doors, and a bunch of students on the inside of the said room.
It was a big open hall. From a distance, he saw someone on a pedestal, at the other end of the room. It was Milagro, desperately trying to turn the microphone on.
Lievpad stepped, standing behind the massive blob of students. He looked forwards.
"Mhm..." Milagro's voice echoed. "Oh, you can hear me now." (What's with the Lucius brothers and microphones?)
"Welcome to Erra, everybody!" he stated extending his arms, as the chatters went quiet. "I would like to preface this by saying, that you really shouldn't treat this like any different school. Think of it as another step in your life. Singularities are something undoubtedly human. Whatever we can master, is a part of us."
Lievpad gulped. Someone in the crowd turned their head towards him, before looking forward again.
"Mainly, I want everyone on this campus to be on good terms. While we learn things about ourselves, your normal education will still remain. I want to guarantee to all of you that everyone will surely pass, finding a new goal in their lives." he stopped for a moment, looking around. "But we need cooperation. People can't function by themselves. I hope that will get through to you."
The students looked at him in silence.
"Wow. What a great speech." Monte was standing behind Milagro.
"Gr! How did you get here..?" Milagro turned around, whispering.
"Aina," Monte responded.
"Just... don't do anything irrational," he added, breathing out and turning around again.
"Huh." sighed Milagro. "I really don't like putting out long and boring lectures like these, in this position. I think that everyone with Singularities should be on the same footing." he scratched his ear, before fixing his glasses. "Everyone, do your best!" he raised his voice and his fist. "Erra!".
It was awkwardly quiet.
Milagro looked at the others again. "Oh come on..." he whispered. "You'll, uh... you'll get the other information in your classrooms." he stepped down from the pedestal, walking away.
Students began moving around.
"Hm! Hm!" Lievpad turned left and right. "I still don't know what class I'm in," he muttered, as students passed around him.
"This was so embarrassing..." Milagro covered his face. "It was a bad idea, after all. I should've just sent them to class."
"Oi, don't push yourself so much!" he patted his back. "You'd have to see the things I said when I escorted them to this school!" smirked Monte.
"Eh..?"
"Nevermind!" he sped up the patting.
"Class... class..." Lievpad span in place. "This is because everything happened so fast, and-" he thought.
"Oi, amigo." Someone put a hand on his shoulder. Lievpad turned his head.
"It's that guy from the train..." he thought.
"Before this school year, we were told that there were gonna be nine people in our class, yet, when I counted the students in this hall, there were 50. And... you don't know what class you're in," he stated.
"Class A-1! Gather here!" A male voice could be heard.
The red-haired guy grabbed Lievpad's shoulder and dragged him toward the other eight students.
"Are you really sure?" whispered Lievpad, a bit worried.
"Well, what's the worst thing that could happen?" he smirked.
The gathered group in Class A-1 followed a teacher, who wore a blue jacket. They went through the same hall again, going down a set of stairs and opening a door, which led to an outside area. There was masonry, and a small gate door, which separated the sector from the grassy hill.
The teacher opened the door to a classroom, which on the inside had six benches, each for two people. There were windows on the side of the door and other windows, which viewed a patch of grass with flowers all around, next to another door which led to that area.
Lievpad and the others took their seats. All of the benches were occupied, with two people sitting by themselves.
The red-haired boy scratched his neck, pointing at the seat. "Amigo, can I?" he asked, as Lievpad nodded.
The guy sat down. "You know, this is our third interaction, and I didn't even get to hear your name."
"Ah. Sorry." Lievpad responded. "Lievpad Peninta," he stated, shaking his head around.
"Juan Pablo Roldán, but please, call me Juablo. Way too long, too much of an inconvenience." he stuck his hand out, as Lievpad looked at it.
"That's a very nice hand indeed," Lievpad added, as the light reflected from the ring on Juablo's finger.
"You're supposed to shake it..." muttered Juablo.
"Ah." Lievpad shook Juablo's hand.
"Hah, you're a funny, guy, Lievpad." Juablo continued.
"My grandfather always told me that I am way too oblivious, but I don't even know what that word means." Lievpad looked forwards, as the teacher shuffled through papers, with a peculiar expression on their face.
"Mmm..." Juablo put his hand into a handbag, took out two candy bars, and immediately ate one. "Want the other?" he asked, with his mouth still full.
Lievpad shook his head.
"Mmm! Your loss!" Juablo pointed. "Hehe."
"Rghhh..." the teacher groaned, covering their face. Everyone stopped talking, looking ahead.
The teacher moved their hands. "Okay, now you're listening. I figured that I had to make a loud noise to get your attention. Gen alpha kids..." he whispered the last words. "Anyways, hi. Welcome to Erra, you've already heard his words, but I can assure you, they really weren't enough to get you ready."
The teacher looked left and right, adjusted his glasses and sighed. "But I'm just gonna check the attendance beforehand, alright."
The teacher moved a stack of papers to his left, and then looked at his phone. "Neat..." he muttered to himself. "Um... Juan Pablo Roldán?" he asked.
"Here, and... can we eat in class?" he asked.
"What a pointless question, of course, you can, Juan! Even I need to snack from time to time, but please keep that bag of crisps in your bag for a few more minutes." The teacher pointed.
"Oh, man..." Juablo slammed his head against his desk.
"Also, please don't change where you sit in this classroom. It would make my job easier." the teacher added. "Lievpad Peninta?"
Lievpad raised his hand. "I'm second on the list..?" he thought, frowning a bit.
"Paula Poppington?" he continued, as a girl with bright blue hair raised her hand. "Nivel Laurenzoe? Benjamin Silva? Rico Kirchner?" he kept reading, as everyone raised their hands. "Leira Boedo? Che Moyo Godoy?"
"Here!" replied Che.
"It's that guy with the monkey," Juablo muttered, as the two turned to their left for a moment.
"Rejire Ponpeu? Marta Moreau? Alright, it looks like everyone is here. I'll have to remember all your names, sooner or later. With a new class, I'd normally play a game of introduce yourself but I doubt we have time today, so let's strengthen our bonds through action, alright?" asked the teacher.
"Is our teacher a guy or a girl?" whispered Juablo.
"Could be neither," responded Lievpad, not whispering.
"Name's Mariano Kai, but you can just call me Mari. No 'mister' and all that formal stuff. It makes me feel old. Anyways, I'll be teaching you Spanish and I'll guide you through your Singularity journey in this school... there are other teachers for other subjects, of course, but even I haven't met them yet. We'll have our first Spanish lesson tomorrow, afterwards, we'll go outside and do... stuff?" he tried reading a paper. "Milagro has unreadable handwriting." he thought.
"What does the stuff include?" Benjamin raised his hand, before immediately putting it down, not waiting for the teacher to finish.
"Uh... the forest, I think? Afterwards, we'll see what you can do with your Singularities." Mari added, smiling lightly. "Also, three more important things, afterwards, you can go to your dorms." he signalled with his fingers.
Mari sat down, opening a drawer. He looked at the class again, then at the drawer, took something out of it and stood up, making his way to one of the seats in the back.
"Um..." spoke Mari.
"Ah! Ah!" The student (Rejire), who just a second ago was asleep shook his hands around. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he repeated.
"No, don't worry, I'm sleepy too," Mari added. "Just make sure to ask others about anything important." he put the card on the desk. "Do any of you know what this is?"
"An ID card?" asked Leira.
"Kinda. These cards are a sign that you're part of this school."
Rejire put the card in his hands, looking at it.
"They have your name, Singularity name and class, and a place for badges. It's a small electrical device that lets you access rooms in this school, so there isn't a need for a key. I even have one myself." Mari took it out of his jacket, looking at it for a moment, before putting it back. "I have all of your cards." he pointed to the drawer, before quickly making it back and giving all the cards to the respective students. "Be mindful that each year the cards get replaced, which means new photos. I made the honest mistake of sleeping for three hours before I took mine, but I can't change it."
"So cool!" Ben mentioned. "This is one of the only photos I look good in!"
"Ah. So that's why they needed us to send photos? I really should've... thought about this." Leira put her card into her pocket.
"Oi... is the 'á' in my surname the wrong way?" Juablo whispered.
"No clue," responded Lievpad, looking at his own card. "Elipse Eclipse..." he muttered.
"Huh?" Juablo turned to him.
"That's not the name I chose..." he continued.
"What was the original?"
"Ba-"
"UM! Excuse me!" Paula raised her hand. "You mentioned something about badges? What's that?"
"Oh yeah." Mari sat down. "For the first years, Milagro decided to make a system, where each student has to collect eight badges in order to pass the school year."
Someone sighed.
