Back in the small apartment in Buenos Aires.
Lievpad is sitting on his bed, as Leon suddenly kicked the door open, almost breaking it. "You can just open it," he added.
"Oh. Alright, sorry." he smiled, waved and stepped in. He looked around for a moment, before excitedly running up to Lievpad. "Haha! Haha! You're not kidding me right?!"
"Well... what else could it be?" asked Lievpad, unsure, putting his hand on his arm.
"Well... I know for a fact that no matter how hard you try you just can't lie in any situation you find yourself in!" added Leon, pointing.
"Huh?"
"But that's what makes you even better!" Leon stomped around, excitedly.
"I think it's a Singularity... I mean. It could be something else. That's why I called." answered Lievpad.
"Hah... hah..." Leon calmed down. "Alright, alright." he turned around, scanning the room up and down, noticing the damage. "You did that? So cool!"
"Huh? That may cost thousands to repair!" Lievpad raised his voice.
"It is a proof of something, Lievpad. Don't worry." he sat down next to him on the bed. "If it does turn out to be a Singularity, then SYSTA will cover all the costs." he looked up.
"But how can we be sure?" Lievpad looked at him.
"That's why!" answered Leon. "I brought someone!"
A middle-aged man with white hair tied into a bun and a monocle walked through the front door.
"Leon, you don't have to be so... flashy with these introductions." said the man. "I stood in the doorway for a minute. Some lady which passed through the hall gave me a judging look." he sweated. "...and Aina's standing on the floor below."
"Yaku's here too?" asked Lievpad, before Leon covered his mouth.
"Milagro, we need to make sure of something," he added.
"Well, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that." Milagro smiled, pulling a chair closer to the bed. He sat down, looking at Lievpad.
Leon placed his hand further away.
"Hi." Milagro reached his hand out, as Lievpad hesitantly shook it. He was surprised that Milagro didn't mind the scar on his palm.
"Hello," answered Lievpad.
"You've probably seen me somewhere before. I see it in your eyes," mentioned Milagro. "Well, let's just stop with the confusing topics. I'm the headmaster of the newly founded Erra Singularity School."
"Oh yeah," added Lievpad. "I saw you on one of the TVs when I stepped out of the train."
"Yes. It's a really hard time of the year for me now. With all the new school stuff, I have to manage multiple things at once. If it turns out to be true that you have a Singularity, I'll have to do all the paperwork concerning your sudden change of heart." he explained.
"Which means... I'm gonna go there too." Lievpad looked down, as his eyes lit up.
"Exactly! But that's if: you have a singularity and I have the willpower to do even more paperwork two days before the new school year! Isn't that fun!" he raised his voice, sarcastically, moving his hands extremely fast. "Leon, you'll give me a hand in the paperwork, right?!"
"Exactly! Best friend!" Leon moved his hands speedily too. "It would be a total shame if someone called for an emergency!"
"Well then, Lievpad." Milagro stood up. "Let's go outside and see what you can do."
Lievpad and Milagro stepped out of the block of flats, and Leon lay down on Lievpad's bed.
"Huh." Yaku stepped in. "This is really some expensive damage." he looked around the sharp path the orbs made the night before. He then looked at Leon.
"Why do I have to be involved in this school business..?" he asked, rubbing his eye.
"Well, I hope you'll still be Elemento even if you'll be spending most of your free time in that wannabe academy." Yaku leaned against the door, looking down. "I mean... I wouldn't like losing a partner because he went to a school again."
"I'm barely alumni, Aina." Leon sat up. "Don't worry."
Yaku breathed out. "Don't call me Aina."
"Normally, people have five senses. Tasting, smelling, touching, seeing and hearing. I think the best way to describe Singularities is by what I like to call the sixth sense." explained Milagro. "It's rooted in your brain, just like the other ones. You know when you're hearing things because my words are coming through to you. You know when you're seeing because you're looking at me right now."
Milagro turned to Lievpad.
"Ok, you're not me looking at me at this moment, but you get the point, I assume," he added.
"How do you know all that?" asked Lievpad.
"They don't call me the Singularity expert for nothing."
"They do?"
"Why would I be the headmaster, Lievpad?" he smiled.
"Mm..." Lievpad looked down.
"Besides, I have a Singularity of my own," he answered (Milagro is in his thirties, despite having old man hair).
"I think I get it. But that sixth sense thing?" Lievpad put his arms together as if he was trying to shoot something on the empty field they found themselves in.
"Do you feel that, Lievpad?" Milagro got closer. "That... itch in your brain," he asked.
Lievpad squinted his eyes.
"You really want to scratch that itch, don't you?" Milagro continued.
"Haah... haah..." Lievpad breathed in and out. "Scratch... that... itch..." he ground his teeth, before flicking his finger.
"Gaah!" Lievpad let go, but nothing happened, he breathed heavily, as smoke came out from his arm.
Milagro's eyes widened, as a smile started appearing on his face.
"Sorry. I'm not the strongest right now," answered Lievpad.
"No, no. That's okay. For a first-timer, you got really close." he helped him get up, as Lievpad looked at his hand. "That sixth sense. It allows you to detect that itch, which would unlock special properties in your body."
Lievpad clenched his fist. For a moment, he thought about that old woman he saw, but then, the image quickly disappeared, just like she did, back then. He gulped. "So... do I have a Singularity?"
"Hm." Milagro put his fingers on his chin. "Well, there's one more way to test that, but I guess you'll see that on one of your first lessons at school." he smiled.
"Welcome to Erra, Lievpad Peninta."
Lievpad's eyes widened, in pure awe.
"Now, it would be really cool if you could name your Singularity, don't you think?" asked Milagro.
"Yeah, it would." Lievpad's eyes were still flashy, as he kept looking at his hand.
"Lievpad?" Milagro got his head closer. "Are you this happy?"
Lievpad kept staring at his hand, but a smile didn't appear on his face.
"A-Anyways." Milagro fixed his monocle. "Do you remember anything from when it first manifested?"
"It looked like an orb, rolling down my forearm. So, I guess..."
"Hm?"
"Balls," Lievpad said, in complete seriousness.
Milagro stepped away. "Haha." he laughed under his nose, before turning around, and raising his voice. "No," he answered.
"I'll get you a cool name. One that doesn't involve balls." the two started walking away, as Milagro repeatedly patted Lievpad's head.
Back in the apartment, Lievpad ran inside, looking around. "Grandpa?" he asked.
"Something came up." Yaku, who was standing near the door said. Lievpad turned to him, looking him in the eyes, as Yaku scratched his lips. "I thought it'd be rude if I just left this apartment open."
"Ah, alright," answered Milagro, following Lievpad.
"I wanted to tell him," said Lievpad.
"Don't worry. I'll make sure he knows." Milagro explained, walking out to the corridor, with Yaku stepping out too. "For now, you should pack the most essential stuff. Your clothes, your toothbrush, your phone, your documents... everything else should be provided... I think."
Lievpad looked down, a bit saddened.
"Alright, huh, oh," Milagro spoke to himself. "I'll be taking my leave... Self-motivation time! I love doing paperwork! I love doing paperwork!" he repeated. "Yes! Oh! Yes!"
Yaku and Milagro disappeared in a flash, leaving Lievpad alone again.
Lievpad breathed out, before falling onto his bed and looking at the ceiling.
"A new era starts now!"
He recalled someone's words when Elemento first debuted.
"Huh." Lievpad sighed. "I guess some dreams do come true."
The Erra Singularity School is situated in a remote location in northeast Argentina, near the grassy terrain. People from the city of Tartagal often reported hearing about construction in the nearby forest area, which led some of them to speculate about the school's location. But no one was able to actually find it.
The entire school area was built in just five years, and the ground it covers is massive.
The main campus is a five-story, castle-like building, with a big hall and spiral staircases which lead upwards and downwards.
There is an outside area, which covers a massive forest and a few lakes.
People with Singularities who will be at the age of fifteen in 2028 are all expected to study in the academy for the next four years.
A new era begins now. First-years and first-comers will experience a new school life, which revolves around their newfound powers.
Practically all the staff at school also have Singularities. Teachers, the headmaster and its supporters.
March 1st, 2028.
"In the end, I didn't see Elemento again."
Lievpad is strolling through the Buenos Aires station.
"In the stack of papers Milagro left... he told me we're to meet here at 9 AM. I'm supposed to be seeing a particular group of people. I wonder... if he's somewhere there too?" thought Lievpad. "Kohei..."
Then, he looked to his left and right. "But... I can't find them anywhere!" he opened his mouth slightly, as he kept marching. "None, none, none. Where the heck is everybody?" he took out the information leaflet from his pocket, as another paper fell on the floor.
"Ah." he breathed loudly. "I'm at the wrong station," he said out loud, turning around. "Mm?" he looked down. "I dropped something."
He picked up the paper. "Probably another-" he started opening it. "Gr-grandpa?" he whispered.
It was a letter.
