.asked with bad intentions
The Lord does not allow us to have something that could harm us or others. Things we ask for with bad intentions are on the list of prayers that God does not answer. So don't even waste your time asking for something, whatever it may be, with the aim of aggrandizing yourself or hurting someone.
Examples of wrong prayers: asking for a gift so you can brag, "prepare and take so-and-so, God." in other words, asking for someone's death.
It's wrong to ask for a gift to exalt yourself, to "show off". The gifts are for the glory of our Lord and for the strengthening of the brothers in the faith.
"God, prepare and take, so-and-so." It's not an intercession anywhere, I see it as a discreet way of saying "God, kill so-and-so."
First, God who gave us the breath of life and has the right to collect us whenever He wants. So, it's very audacious of us to say: "I can't stand this so-and-so anymore, take him!"
Second, it is written 'thou shalt not kill', on this basis I consider it a mistake and a break of commandment, to do a prayer in which the intention is the death of someone.
Third, the intercession that the Bible teaches us is to pray in favor of all people, asking God to give them new opportunities, more time in life to come to the full knowledge of the truth.
"44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45 that you may be
children of your Father
in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?"
Matthew 5:44-46 NIV.
Jesus is our greatest role model, we were called to be imitators of Christ. He intercedes for us, do you think that the Son of God is in heaven praying "Father, prepare and take so-and-so"?
Do I really need to answer? In case you have any doubts, let's go to this passage:
“Simon, Simon! Listen!
Satan has received
permission to test all of you,
to separate the good from the bad, as a farmer separates the wheat
from the chaff.
But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail.
And when you turn back to me, you must strengthen your brothers.”
Luke 22:31-32 GNT.
Well, you can read the entire gospel and there is not a single verse where Jesus prayed for someone to die. Rather, He taught, healed, fed, forgave and resurrected the dead.
When someone is willing to pray for someone's departure, there is bound to be some kind of hurt, anger against the person. As Christians, we're obliged to forgive any and all harm that someone has done to us.
"It's unfair, so-and-so doesn't deserve it!"
It's fair for an innocent to pay for a crime he didn't commit? Of course not! Even so, Jesus Christ accepted to die on a cross in our place so that we could be reconciled with God.
He loved and forgave us without us having deserved it. We all deserve to die and go to hell! God is so good that He loves us, despite knowing all our flaws and mistakes, and because of that infinite love, He gave His only Son so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life.
However, we must forgive otherwise, unfortunately, we will not be forgiven by Him either. Think with me, if God has forgiven the sins of the whole world... including ours, what's our excuse for holding grudges?
It 's hard to forgive, yes. Is it impossible? Not at all. Be honest with God and tell how you feel about the person you've decided you're going to forgive.
"But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
Matthew 6:15 NIV.
. Asked without faith
"5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do."
James 1:5-8 NIV.
God answers firm people, persevering in faith, if you believe while praying, however, as soon as you say "amen" allow yourself to believe in the doubts that the enemy throws at you to prevent you from winning… It's a waste of time.
Answered prayers are from people who never give up, those who banish doubt using the sword of our faith - the Word of God.
Those who dare to hope against hope like Abraham, even knowing that it was impossible for him to have a child in old age - believed because it was The Lord who promised.
Romans 4:16-21 NIV.
"16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
17 As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.
18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.
20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised."
If by chance you identify yourself as someone like the wave of the sea, caught in the back and forth between faith and doubt. Take it easy, I also have a lot of difficulty believing in the impossible. But! There is a solution, there is a fix for us!
"Come near to God
and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.."
James 4:8 NIV.
Ask God to purify our hearts! Recognize our limitation, our unbelief and sincerely ask the Lord to transform us - as an act of faith, I dare you to say thank you before you even see any signs of your change and imitate Abraham.
"I hope, against hope, believe." Even though everything said no, he believed and achieved the promise. When even hope died, he believed and did not doubt because he knew how powerful God is and that He watches over to fulfill His Word - He always fulfills if we are willing to use faith.
"For we live by faith,
not by sight."
2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV.
