I asked the professor that had been filling in for me if I could take over, he complied. I was terrified. Since our school was prestigious, the lecture hall was gigantic. Word must have gotten out about my return because the lecture hall was filled to capacity. There were even students on the floor. Everyone had shown up as if I was a ghost haunting the lecture hall. Everyone that was there was waiting for me with bated breath. My throat felt dry. I tried to speak but my mind was all over the place. Rhea saw my plight and offered her hand. Her hand gave me strength. I started to lecture. I was definitely rusty but as I continued it became easier until it felt like no time had passed at all.
The lecture ended and everyone seemed to be inspired. I was grinning from ear to ear, it had been so long since I smiled that my face hurt, but I didn't mind. They looked like they wanted more but I was at my limit, I was exhausted. Rhea was proud of what I accomplished. We decided we should explore the campus. I was starving. I was so nervous this morning I didn't eat anything. There were a lot of people here and it was very noisy. We wandered around looking for food. I wanted to show her around but most places didn’t appeal to me. I felt a sudden tap on my shoulder, I looked to see who it was. What I saw were two girls. One with black hair and the other with brown hair.
"I know you have one." Said the girl with the raven black hair and emerald green eyes.
"Have one what?" I asked, feeling confused and defensive.
"A Tulpa." Said the second girl with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. I must have looked more confused than before because the black haired girl let out an exasperated sigh. My stomach growled. "This will take a while, so let's find a place where we can eat and chat." I followed her and we ended up in a sort of sports bar that specializes in burgers.
"Sorry about probably not making the best first impression. Let's try this again." The black haired girl offered her hand to shake and I gingerly shook it. "I'm Luna and my friend here is Yadi"
"I'm a Tulpa, like the girl next to you. We are sentient beings that share head space with our creators." I was shocked, I knew Rhea was very much her own person, but I had thought she only felt real to me.
"Tulpas usually manifest through meditation or… incredible amounts of stress." Luna continued. She looked distant, probably remembering something painful. She tugged on her sleeves pulling them down, even though there was no need to.
"I can't speak for why I'm here, but one reason for a Tulpa to appear is that their creator is thinking of ending their own life. Have you been thinking of killing yourself?" Yadi stated bluntly. She had been drinking quite a bit but she didn't seem intoxicated.
"Since we are introducing ourselves, I'm Soledad, but I prefer Sole. I appreciate your concern but it's unfounded. Rhea was manifested through meditation. She was meant to be a character for something I was writing. Before I knew it, I guess she became a Tulpa." I explained. The word Tulpa felt odd.
"Why are you being so quiet? What's your name? I'm guessing you haven't interacted with others besides your creator." Yadi said. I felt a little guilty. I wasn;t aware there were others like her.
"How do I become real? I've enjoyed being by Sole's side, but I feel like I could do more if I had a physical form like you do." Rhea was determined.
"Intimacy is key. All sorts of things can be considered intimate so if you get stumped, don't hesitate to call us." They both left their numbers and exited.
