Oh right, I hadn't asked for her name. Or the pack's name for that matter.
I just needed to heal as soon as possible and get out of here since I had bigger things to worry about.
But I'd have to admit that this pack was by far the weirdest and most mysterious pack I'd ever seen.
For starters why was there only a single shifter here? Where was her family? Why were they so isolated from the other packs?
And this alpha. There was something about this alpha that confused me and I couldn't yet place a finger on what it exactly was.
I felt the stares that were boring into me from the other pack members. Some were with fear and some were with caution.
Finally seeing their gaze change, I looked up. But what met my eyes wasn't something I was expecting.
With her dull red hair tied up in a messy ponytail, the beautiful greenish-grey eyed-alpha walked towards me. Her eyes were still as sharp and cautious as before.
My eyes met hers as she hesitated for a moment before reaching down and opening the bolts of the cage. Her gaze incited confusion in me and I frowned.
I felt the immense need to decipher her like she was some sort of puzzle I just had to decode.
Beckoning me to follow her, she led the way to the house. Her wolves took a step closer to make sure I didn't try any funny business.
As I walked behind her or rather half limped my way there, I winced in pain as I felt the impact of the bite wounds.
She walked into the house and pointed to the clothes on the table. " These are the largest pair of clothes I have. And that's the bathroom. The hot water's already there. Tell me when you're done and I'll get you some food. " She said as she walked out of the house again, which on closer inspection was more of a small cottage.
...
I groaned as the hot water slid down my body and touched my wounds. Pain wasn't something new to me but this was just another level altogether.
With a heavy sigh, I rested my head on the wall behind me. Why was all this happening? Was everyone alright at home? Who were the ones that attacked me?
I squeezed my eyes shut as my thoughts engulfed me and snapped them open as if it would make things magically go back to the way things were before I left home.
With a shaky breath, I put on the clothes slowly as I tried not to touch the wounds in the process.
I walked out of the bathroom, thankful that her clothes had fit me. Me having a clothing issue right now would be the last thing any of us here would want to think about, I thought as I limped my way out to the entrance and peeked outside.
The alpha was sitting there and talking to two of the bigger wolves of the pack. And as soon as they felt my presence, they looked up at me but her gaze was the one that troubled me.
There was a short but unmistakable flash of anger in them.
Lyla, an alpha werewolf was content with life and wanted to spend the rest of her days in peace with her pack of wolves.
Or that's what she thought until an injured wolf appears on her turf. Deciding to treat him, she takes him in, not realising that this alpha was a werewolf too.
Being hell-bent on trying to figure out her mysterious origin and who she actually is, she decides to use the opportunity that is Felix to learn more.
But things don't go according to her plan and being fiercely loyal to her pack, she is ready to protect them at any cost, even if it means taking Felix's, the other werewolf alpha's, help.
What happens when hidden secrets about her pack and her parents start unravelling while the Moon Goddess's secret blessing threatens to turn their complicated feelings for each other into something more?
And all of this whilst they prepare for a ferocious faceoff between them and one of the most feared packs in all of history that has once again risen from the dark.
