Zev was confused. He was the only wolf around and it was true that he was unusually large for a wolf, but he was not evil, nor had he ever eaten a boy... When the hunter was gone, Zev slowly came out of his hiding place and went down the path to grandmother's. For once, the grandmother sat in front of her little house and stared spellbound at the narrow, winding path that led to the village, half an hour's walk from her house. When she spotted Zev, she tensed a little, but then relaxed again, stood up and ran towards Zev. Knowing that Zev had very good hearing, she said from afar in her calm and quiet voice: "My dear Zev, how are you? You might want to stay off the path for a while... The Hunter and his friends are currently roaming the forest in search of a beast that attacked the miller's son, suspecting a wolf." Zev shook his head in disbelief and said: "But grandmother, I'm the only wolf in this forest and I've never harmed a human being! On the contrary, recently I even saved one from the big river! Unfortunately I didn't manage to save the second one, but those people were also foolish enough to climb that slippery log on two legs and without any claws at all!" The grandmother covered her face in shock and cried out hysterically, "Oh Zev! So you are indeed the one they are looking for! But how could the miller misunderstand all this? Oh my dear Zev, please promise me that you will keep covered for the next time." Zev sadly let his ears and his tail droop, because the grandmother meant that he shouldn't visit her anytime soon. When he got to his grandmother, she gently stroked his head and said to comfort him: "You know what, when you come to visit me, you simply have to transform yourself, but somewhere deep in the forest where nobody can see you Also, you should come from the other side and stay off the path. Zev cocked his ears back a bit to show her he liked the idea, even if he was still a bit depressed.
