Beautiful? Pretty? Absolute bullshit. Her nails dug into her skin with both words resounding in her head. No matter how much she tried to make it stop, it stuck to her mind like glue.
The same numbing pain was what she felt plus her chest felt tighter with each breath she took and she dug even harder. She sat at her bedside, arms wrapped around her knees as she felt her whole body ache and tremble.
Her mind continued to race around the day's event, trying to figure what exactly had happened. She wished she never talk to that person. She was hideous, a monster. Nobody would like her. Nobody should like her.
"Ahhhhh" Sam screamed but it still couldn't wash away what she felt at the moment. Her skin felt like ash and dust. It disgusted her. Beautiful? No it's all disgusting. It always has been. That's what she was and that's all she will ever be.
Tears rolled down her cheeks but she dried them immediately with the sleeve of her shirt. She shouldn't be doing this now. She got up and headed straight to the bathroom in attempt to take a shower. Maybe that would help, she thought to herself.
When she was done, she picked out her favorite tank top. The wounds on her left arm had healed leaving behind scars but she didn't mind.
She sat on the bed that stayed unmoving in the small room. She didn't want to be here, at least for now and she couldn't figure out what to do so she decided to make a call to none other than Sky.
She wasn't one to make friends. She never thought she needed them but Sam would admit that having Sky around was a good thing.
The dialer rang a few times before there was an answer. "Sammy!" Sky squealed from the other end causing her to put the phone a little distant from her ear.
"Hey" she replied not as excited as Sky. She could never seem to figure out where he got his energy as he was always excited except when he talked about his break ups which didn't even last 5 minutes.
"How are you?" Sky continued this time with a lower pitch than he had started.
How are you? Sam reiterated the question in her mind, she didn't know what she would answer to that question. Fine? She wasn't fine though she very well knew that. It took a while but she finally replied "I'm not sure. I don't know."
"What's wrong?" Sky asked "Do you want to talk about it?" He continued, his voice showed a lot of concern that Sam couldn't understand why he cared that much when she never even gave a sh*t about him or even anyone.
"I guess so." She said not exactly sure what to say hoping that Sky's natural quirk would clear the awkwardness she felt. She had never talked to anybody about the things that bothered her except with Sky and she hoped it wasn't be a bad idea.
At the end they were able to conclude on their meet. She walked down her street now with hands in the pocket of the joggers she now wore. She hadn't bothered with her tank top that she now wore but took a jacket just in case it got colder.
It was a little pub located close to where Sky lived. Sam still felt jittery about stepping in when she saw Sky sitting there waiting for her. With a long sigh she raised her shoulders and got in. What's the worse that could happen?
Sky smiled when their eyes met which made her feel even weirder than she had been at the entrance to the pub. Sitting down across Sky, she wanted to return the smile but that felt like a bad idea so 'no'.
"What would you like to get?" Sky asked her in his usual excited tone.
"Anything." she said. Remembering she hadn't had anything for dinner except bubble tea she added, "I could use some food." They haven't hung out like this in a while, the last time was when they had drank with the rest of their colleages who worked at the bar.
Sky ordered burgers and fries for the both of them. She sat there looking around at the decor of the place that looked almost similar to the bar but it had more space and tables for customer and there weren't any loud music here that drilled into her head. It would be nice to work in a place like this, she thought to herself.
"Eat up!" Sky said to her forcing her out of her thoughts and she looked down at the burger. For one thing she wasn't that hungry but if she didn't eat now she sure wasn't going to eat till the following morning.
"Why do you keep doing that to yourself?" Sky asked out of the blue, his expression a mix of worry and inquisition.
Sam was confused for a moment. She was just about taking a bite off the burger till she figured out what he had asked about. Her stomach dropped. If she hadn't been hungry before well she definitely felt full now. Why was she stupid enough to forget that? She had even brought a jacket.
Sam couldn't speak, she felt her throat burn as she tried to get words out. Her ears began to ring and everything started to close in. Unable to get anything out she put on the Jacket she had carried along with her and in a hurry she got up and ran out the pub with Sky following and calling behind her but she couldn't hear a thing.
Sam prefers her quiet life, being alone away from others living like a cloud in the sky. Her mundane life was all she needed, but fate is not on her side as she comes across someone who turns her world into a roller-coaster of emotions.
Chris on the other hand is tired of her current lifestyle and wants a change, an artist running away from the planned fate that have been laid out for her by her parents.
