Days passed into weeks with Sam working on low energy, caffeine and meds. She even had to take the pills just so she could get some sleep which she could say worked.
She spent most of her off days at the local library when she didn't have anything to do or wasn't switching shifts. She liked to read as it was what she grew up with. Her mother would read to her just when she was barely able to speak and it continued that way until death stole her. She did write sometimes but it was sparingly.
Today seemed like just any other day at the cafe. The same mundane routine of taking the bus to setting up the cafe and now serving at tables. Except for one small disturbance.
It was small but hell did it annoy her. Sam had served coffee to a lady who looked somewhat her age- maybe younger who knows, and the lady had tried to start a conversation with her. She grudgingly but to the best of her ability tried to reply with a smile which didn't go too well but the lady kept talking.
Christine as she came to find out was a comic artist. Not that she cared but she had said it almost three times now and was still chatting away.
"You know my favorite pets are spiders and lizards, oh I'd love to keep a cat too but I'm too busy now to take care of any pets. What's your favorite? Do you have any pets?" The lady kept on talking.
Sam had never met someone who talked more than Sky and it was already getting on her nerves. She gave a stiff smile and replied flatly. "I'm sorry I still have to serve other tables."
Christine's smile dropped immediately as if someone had killed her dog or something "Right, i totally forgot-"
Before she could complete her sentence, Sam had already left to take orders from another table.
It would have ended there for Sam if she didn't have to ignore the stares that weighed on her whole being. Each time she turned back she would find Christine staring at her with doe eyes and it irritated her. Why couldn't she mind her damn business?
By the time it was lunch break, Christine had finally left much to her relief and she hoped the rest of her day would be as smooth as normal. She didn't have a shift at the bar tonight and tomorrow was off at the cafe so she would have a longer time to rest before starting her routine again.
Her shift was already over and Sam strolled through the street. It wasn't yet rush hour but it still had a lot more people than she would want around her but she didn't want to go home yet, it felt so dreary there. She needed to breathe.
Stopping by a small restaurant she got in. It was run by an older lady probably in her fifties. The woman made the best bubble tea and that's what she ordered.
Did fate exist? Probably not. It was all bulls for Sam but if fate did exist then it was really messing with her right now. The least person she would have expected was just sitting beside her. Christine. How had she not seen her?
With one swift movement, Christine was already sitting in front of her and said nothing but stared intently at Sam and it really irked her.
"What do you want?" She snapped at Christine who flinched at her sudden outburst. She didn't care about that, this person could f*ck off for all that mattered.
Christine hesitated in an attempt to pick her words carefully as her earlier excitement faded. She seemed scared of Sam and found it difficult to speak especially when Sam threw her death glares from the other side of the table that they both sat. Stretching out her tablet Christine stuttered "I... I just-"
Just like before Sam got up and was about to leave her midsentence.
"W..wait!" Christine spoke louder this time showing her the tablet that displayed a drawing on the screen.
What the absolute hell. It was a perfect replica of her at the cafe earlier. Sam was beyond words. Was this person a freak? Or maybe just plain stupid? Dumb? She couldn't tell. What annoyed her the most was the perfection of the art. But why her anyways? What would Christine see in her? What would anyone see?
"So? What do you want me to do? Gobble it up?" Sam said completely annoyed now as she felt her stomach ache.
"N..no. You could at least appreciate it"
Sam rolled her eyes. Obviously. She was still standing and was totally pissed off. Going home earlier didn't seem so bad now. "Then what?" She snapped again really annoyed at Christine. She was so vocal earlier, what the hell happened?
"I thought you looked really beautiful so I decided to draw you. I mean you looked really pretty and i wanted to ask if you could model for me" Christine rushed her words not really thinking, her head was down as she was too shy to look at Sam.
Sam looked totally stupified. Ahhh now i get it. This person was just plain mad, totally crazy and sick. She stormed out of the place into the street, not running now but she walked really fast. She didn't know if she should laugh or cry at what she just heard so she decided to keep it at the back of her mind. Maybe it was her being the irrational one but that didn't matter much to her.
She only had to wait for a while before the bus stopped in front of her which she boarded home.

Sam prefers her quiet life, being alone away from others living like a cloud in the sky. Her mundane life was all she needed, but fate is not on her side as she comes across someone who turns her world into a roller-coaster of emotions.
Chris on the other hand is tired of her current lifestyle and wants a change, an artist running away from the planned fate that have been laid out for her by her parents.
