I think when a lot of people today think of isekai, they tend to think Sword Art Online, Reincarnated as a Slime, Shield Hero, and other more modern things. When I think isekai - as someone who grew up in the 90s like Chiaki has - I still tend to think of Rayearth, Escaflowne, and Fushigi Yugi (with the latter being specifically represented in Chiaki's mind in panels 2 and 3).
I miss more romance-focused isekai starring female protags. They still exist, of course, but they're fewer and farther between. They usually take the backseat to power fantasy-focused narratives with male leads nowadays. Oh well. That's (part of) why I'm writing this, though. Write the stories you read see, right? ^_^
Anyway, Chiaki kicks a tree. XD
Most people pinch themselves to make sure they're not dreaming, but sometimes you just gotta be really really REALLY sure.
Follows the strange story of Chiaki, a daydreaming otaku who longs to confess her feelings to her childhood friend, Fumiko, and how that's made especially difficult when she gets transported to another world...
