"So, I'll finish now, of course? I can hardly leave it to Anilec or Jael. They have already said too much and I would also like to say something." When everyone was back home, I remembered my dream of Carolin and Sandra and told it to Jael and Anilec. We said goodbye to the pack, the crowd and each other and went back "home". Sandra was eagerly awaiting us. Apparently, Anilec had been there faster and Carolin had told her sister. She embraced us stormily and then asked in a tear-choked voice, "Where have you been for so long? Did you figure it out?" I nodded and Jael told her about the clearing and all our friends there. However, she omitted that some of them were animals. Sandra nodded and said after a while, "I knew I would have to tell you one day or you would find out for yourself. I just couldn't let go of you and that's why I didn't tell you anything..." She took two wicker baskets out of the pantry and lifted the lids. In it were a small pillow and a small blanket. She took something out from under the one pillow. A small, crumpled piece of paper that read:
Dear Sandra, we are reluctant to ask you, but we have no other choice. Could you take care of Jael (the older girl) and Arika (the younger girl) for us until they are old enough to live with us again. We want them to have a reasonably normal childhood. Her cousin Anilec is with your sister. Your birth dates are written on the back. We hope it doesn't make you too much trouble. Best regards Corvo.
The whole piece of paper was full of stains and the writing was not exactly the most beautiful. When I read everything, I looked at Sandra questioningly and she said, "If you want, and he allows it, you can pack your things and live with Corvo. I just want you to promise me to write to me every now and then. I have heard that your Tan... that Carolin Anilec wants to say the same thing..." I couldn't help it, I let out a cry of joy. I was already homesick for the clearing and all my friends there, we called Corvo (Jael had left a disposable cell phone for him there and let Sandra understand the language of the ravens unnoticed for a short time) and told him what Sandra had told us. She took the phone out of our hands and talked to Corvo herself. Then we could finally go packing and back to the clearing. We were even allowed to take Caramel with us because Sandra didn't have enough time for her and Yannick, the boy we had previously thought was our brother, didn't want to go for a walk with her either. When we said goodbye to Sandra and were back in the clearing, we set up our rooms with our new stuff and then played catch with Anilec, who had also moved here with Blue and her cats Felicity and Ginny.
