On September 8th, 1943 Italy signed an armistice with the Allies that started a 9 years adventure for many Italian soldiers who found themselves, suddenly beyond ex-friends, now enemies, lines.
Prisoners of war in Poland and then freed by the Soviet Army, they were deported to Russia and kept prisoners for years. The way back home was the hardest journey.
