More a drama episode than a one off joke. But, hey, at least it has something educational in the end :)
Also, I'm aware Wikipedia is an unreliable source. But....it's the most convenient and the whole Calico myth is more a fun fact anyway. so, yeah, don't put too much weight into it. it's really just a fun fact.

Heres something cool:
Most times, calico cats are called money cats due to the rarity of male calicos. Actually, if a male calico is born, it is due to a birth defect, the extra colour is held in the extra leg of the chromosome, making male calicos a very rare breed- so if one was to sell it, you could make some BIG bucks, but that would all be up to you :3
