POMPOUS!
That was the word she was looking for, yes that’s the right word because right now she couldn’t think of anything better through the red haze of anger blinding her.
This was all that she could think of, especially when all common sense had abandoned her and all she wanted to do was punch his stupidly perfect nose.
Men like him had no place in her life, especially not now. Even if he was only her Doctor, he had so arrogantly demanded to know, if she knew who the father of her baby was. Of course, she knew she had snapped and stared daggers at him.
Who gives you the right to ask me if I know who the father of my baby is; I don’t even know you, Doctor.
Papadopoulos. He Replied, Andreas Papadopoulos.
And before he could defend himself properly she went right ahead, well Doctor Papadopoulos who do you think you are, insinuating such things? We only just met 10 minutes ago when I came in for my routine appointment and learnt that Doctor Miles was no longer the attending physician here, she pulled her eyebrows closer together to create the semblance of a frown although she had in fact been told yesterday that Dr Miles had retired and she would be seeing the New Doctor, an internationally acclaimed Dr who had opted for the quiet life in South Africa instead of New York’s Hub bub.
He however didn’t need to know that she knew who he was and where he came from and that she had confirmed with the receptionist yesterday that her appointment was still in order even with the new attending Doctor.
Hmpf!
She stared at him pointedly, but he just had a confused smile plastered onto his face, infuriating her even more, she jabbed at his chest and immediately regretted it, all hard muscle that didn’t budge even an inch, Oh!
Dammit! She thought to herself why was he making her behave so irrationally just because he had asked her a simple question?
Was it because she found him immensely attractive? Or was it because he rubbed her up the wrong way, “ï could definitely do with rubbing my face all over those rock-hard abs “she forcefully cleared that image from her mind, with his good looks and unbelievably blue eyes; how could anyone have eyes that blue?
Broodingly handsome face, a perfect patrician nose, a strong chin and gorgeous black hair that was oddly long for a Doctor, but neatly styled and those eyes the purest shade of clear blue skies.
Oh! She was staring. Again
Quickly looking down at her feet she felt her ears getting warm, likely due to her blushing for no damn reason. She stubbornly refused to look back up until she felt the heat in her ears cool. As soon as she lifted her head she turned hot for an entirely different reason.
He asked again most likely out of pure stubbornness if she really knew who the father was then bent his head sideways at her, and she felt her blood boil all over again. She grabbed her handbag and jacket from around the chair back, turned on her heel and headed for the door.
Miss Hart! He called out.
What?
She snapped as she turned around to glare daggers at him.
You might want to take this with you, he smirked, to show the baby’s father I mean.
He had the decency to look regretful for all of five seconds, and then the confusion was back, her face had gone from angry and fiery to the most beautiful sad face he had ever seen at that moment he felt as if he had seen into her deepest depths full of pain.
She took a step towards him snatched the proffered sonogram printout from his hand and mumbled thank you, the sooner I get away from this pompous man the better I will feel she thought to herself, but she grudgingly gave a terse nod and tight smile turned around and walked out of the consultation room and made a visible effort not to slam the door.
What a beautiful spitfire of a woman, Andreas chuckled silently as he watched her close the door to his consultation room, noticing how she tried not to slam it with as much force as she possibly could with those slender arms of hers.
Why had I felt the need even to ask her such a plainly stupid and insensitive question? Do you know who the father might be? Really Andreas you have lost the plot and gone off the rails completely, what had possessed me to ask a patient such a rude question, and on my first day here?
