A few minutes later, a red sedan pulled up in front. " Hop in! " Luke said as he craned his neck towards my side.
I swiftly nodded and climbed in. " Nice car, not going to lie, the red is real flashy. " I said with a grin as I struggled to put the seatbelt on. " Thanks. I love red. " He replied as he leaned towards me.
" I'll get that for you. This side always jams for some reason. I need to get it fixed. " He muttered in a low voice as he leaned closer and pulled at the seatbelt.
His face was centimeters away from mine and I could smell his light cologne that reminded me of a beautiful day at the beach. Dare I say it, but, I loved the scent.
I stiffened up and waited for him to finish putting on the seatbelt. " There, done. Sorry about that. " He said as he pulled away and put his own seatbelt on.
" It's fine. " I mumbled back and internally cursed as I felt my cheeks heat up again.
' Look at Luke. He's completely normal about this. Stop making it weird. ' I screamed at my brain and I glanced over to see his expression.
He was completely normal and was concentrating on the road as he should be. ' SEE!! ' I cursed again but when I stole a look again I could see the redness at the tip of his ears fading away.
I quickly looked away, flustered.
' This is all because of your research on him for your protagonist and nothing else. You listed out everything you like about him for research purposes only.
That's all.
That's why you're a little muffled.
Yes, that's right. That's it. And your reaction is making him confused. That's it. " I theorized with my inner self, and while I was at it, Luke turned the music.
" Oh, you're into pop music? " I asked. " Yep, Amongst the many, many others! " He laughed. We chattered away and my concerns dissolved as I just enjoyed the peace that I was in.
...
As a person, I love spending time with all sorts of people. Learning different things about them, understanding different mentalities and in general just being amazed by what every individual has to offer with their unique personalities.
And this being said despite my shyness and hesitance at the start. So when I find myself in the company of someone where I effortlessly enjoy the mood, be it someone older, younger, or anyone for that matter, I cherish it.
I mentally noted down these points to apply to my characters attributes as we walked up the stairs to the restaurant. It always came in handy that I was a deep thinker.
" Ever been to this place? " I asked Luke as we found a nice small corner table. " Nope. The directions you gave seemed unfamiliar too actually. " He said.
" I'm not surprised. Kris and I found this place when we got lost once and we've been coming here ever since. " I said as I recalled that crazy long-drive day. " Hmm... " Luke said, lost in his thoughts for a bit as he ordered.
" Are Kris and you dating? " He suddenly asked. Taken aback by the sudden question, I blinked before laughing out.
" Ah, not you too. She's my best friend. We're very close. But close like siblings. " I said with an ear-to-ear smile. " Oh. That's nice " he said, as he caught my infectious smile and smiled back too.
We chattered away as we ate and when we were walking back to the car, Luke asked, " Oh yeah, you said you had a favour to ask. What is it? "
I had been so distracted with just noting down his personality in my head that this completely slipped my mind.
God, you really gotta cherish those friendships/relationships where you can hang out effortlessly and feel 100% comfortable. Thos are your ride or die kinda people 🤗 I'm terrible at meeting new people, but I do enjoy learning about people on a deeper level, and seeing different personalities
