By the time I returned, only Kris was sitting at the table, slurping the drink that she had brought with her.
" Where's Brandon? " I asked as I sat across her. " Ho, that boy. He got a call and left me here. All alone. Poor me. " She chuckled sarcastically. I chuckled back as I shook my head.
Kris was fun to hang out with, that was something nobody could deny. There was just something about her that would make you talk to her like you've known her your whole life, instead of just being recently acquainted.
...
The day passed by relatively quickly as I lazed around in the room after my daily practice at the club. It was around seven when I heard a knock on the door.
" Comin " I yelled. I slowly opened the door to see Brandon. Or what was left of him rather.
His bag slung loosely from his shoulder and he dragged himself across the room and crashed on the bed.
" What happened to you? " I asked. " Oh, me? Too many classes. And calls. New assignments. Club work. And blah blah blahhh. " He said, his words half incoherent with his face mushed by his pillow.
Sensing the amusement in my tone before, he grumbled again, " You lucky morning class people. "
Shaking my head, I chuckled and walked over to the small dining table to get some water. " You want some water? " I asked as I poured myself a glass.
Silence followed and I turned around to see that he was fast asleep.
Smiling, I walked up to him and placed a glass of water on his bedside table. His phone that was on the table suddenly started ringing and I unintentionally noticed the caller ID.
'Erin Publisher'
Huh, I thought and before my thoughts could wander, the sleepy Brandon awoke. " Eh...? " He mumbled as he looked around for his phone with his eyes still half-closed.
" Here. " I said as I handed it to him. " Thanks... " He mumbled as he answered the call and put it on his pillow under his ear.
As I walked away to my side of the room I could hear his sleepy whines getting louder.
" Eriiinnnn. I'll work on ittt... I already agreed, didn't I? Now let me sleeeeeppp!!! "
I turned back, a moment after he cut the call and asked, " Did you have food? " and just like before I was greeted with silence and saw that he was in deep sleep again.
"Luke..." gasped Brandon as he pulled him into his embrace. "Don't you ever leave," he whispered as he buried his face into Luke's shoulder.
