Sakura gave the titanium white elf soldier a friendly wink and held out his hand. “Tell me, my little friend. Why are you so stressed out that you are printing new flyers all the time?”
The elf gulped. “I’ve had enough! This year I have to take care of organizing the egg hunt almost by myself. And everything goes wrong. First the computer can’t find the printer driver and I have to run to the copy store, only to have everything printed wrong and crooked. Who wants ugly flyers like that?”
Sakura pulled out one of the flyers he had picked up at the café. Now he recognized the student as well. It was Demosthenes Pappas, a member of the Greek folk dance group, who was part of the Easter committee this year and had the task of putting up posters everywhere. “You mean this one? I think it looks pretty neat. You can read all the dates, and the illustration has really pretty colors. You probably put too much pressure on yourself and pay attention to little things that others wouldn’t even notice. Just think of all the trees that would have to be cut down if everyone reprinted everything just because it was a little crooked. Would you like to be one of those trees?”
The elf sobbed heartbreakingly and pulled up his runny nose. “You’re absolutely right! How could I forget!” He wiped away his tears and quietly printed to himself. “Thank you, Sakura Infuser!”
Sakura winked at him. “Even from a mistake, sometimes unexpected beauty can come. Just look at the people. I’m sure Mother Nature didn’t plan them. Would you want to exchange them, even if it means there would be no festivals to look forward to without them?”
He then turned to Spruce with a smile. “Would you like to help him this time?”
Spruce tensed his shoulders nervously. “May I?” He looked at Blob unsure.
“There’s no paragraph in the Hero’s Contract about that. Go ahead!” Blob nodded, bubbling.
“Okay, fine.” Spruce took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and raised the Spruce Scythe to the sky. It glowed the same way as the Fantastic Sakurastick the last time, and then transformed into a sauna bucket with a ladle. “And now, you poor stressed soul, it’s time for a cooldown! Rainbow Relax Resurrection!”
Under a gush of sauna essence, the elf was purified. The color essence escaped in a hissing cloud of steam, leaving the chilled Demosthenes. Unimpressed, he walked back to his club log cabin as if the fight had never happened.
Always read the Hero's Contract thoroughly, will you? (Advice by Madoka and her friends.)
