Briar waited until the very last person left the tunnel, her heart trying to escape her chest as she held on to the little bit of control she had left. Then, she immediately vomited. Her legs buckled but did not give out, her eyes watering as blood vessels burst in her eyes, she just wanted all of this to end.
The innkeeper then began laughing in front of the person who maimed him. With the last of his strength, the innkeeper began to question the monster before him. "I, have never felt anything resembling emotion, but you....made me experience....everything, all at once. I don't know why I am so happy when I see you. Even pointing at me is enough to make me a complete imbecile. Why, would something like you exist? I don't want to feel this way, but I can't help it". Briar stared at the caterpillar man. Her disgust grew stronger. She looked around at what she did, but why did she do this? Her confusion grew as the scene looked familiar. She shook the feeling away as she turned to him again. Her expression was piercing as she asked him a question. " Tell me, when you see me, what do I look like to you?". The Innkeeper's confusion grew but what else could he do but comply, "Eyes, like cinnamon, hair of glowing gold, skin unblemished or scarred, and a voice I can't help but want to whisper my name", the innkeeper's voice staggered as his complexion became paler, but his eyes glued to her in admiration. Briar smiled sweetly as he stared in awe," Wrong".
She sat beside him, exhausted, as her hand dipped into the pool of blood leaking out of him. "The celestial I am descendent from, asked that question to a human when they first came down from above. It is said that he somehow guessed correctly and she married him, well, that's what it is written in the diaries of the first Rose princess. How do you think he was able to guess correctly?", Briar asked the man at her side, but when she looked over, he had already passed.
Briar stood and gently kicked the corpse over, seeing he had a sack of her hair, she took it and walked towards the exit. She looked around at what she did, her core shaking, but she ignored it. She was numb to the scene as she dismissed it as an outburst. She decided that it was crucial to keep her composure in the future, she wouldn't want to have an accident like this again. This overall experience had left her drained and with an unpleasant aftertaste in her mouth.
As she walked to the exit, she stared at her hand and pondered, "What do I really look like?".
