The robed woman laughs sinisterly as she slowly walks towards mother and son. James then begins to have visions once again of Harland’s murder, and when he sees Harland’s eyes look up, James sees a familiar face. Snapping back to reality, he then looks up to the woman’s face which was still covered with the hood, and feels seething anger well within him.
“DELIANNA!!”
The woman stops walking and slowly takes off her hood, revealing a sadistic smile on her face and her crimson eyes glowing; It was Delianna.
“How nice to see you again, my dear James.” She greets.
“Why?!” He responds angrily. “Why did you do this?!”
She giggles enjoying the anger in his voice. “Again, it’s nice to have people that love you, right? Family? Friends? I wish I had the same as you. Your parents are so loving; even the priest was like a parent to you and those nuns! Why? … Why couldn’t I have what you had?!”
James grows angrier at her logic.
“You… You killed Harland.” He speaks seething. “You killed him because… he was a friend of mine… and Nyris’? Is your mind still on that?! Just because I had people to fall back on and you didn’t?! You decide to kill them in order to prove a point?! Punishing me because of I had family?!”
Delianna does not respond with a calm look on her face. James lets go of Elsa who could sit up by herself, and stands up with his hands balled into fists.
“And you decided to target me?!” He continues. “I loved you! After everything I’ve done for you when we were together! I even asked you if you wanted to meet them, but you said no! Harland was kind to you! Nyris was kind to you! But you decided to do this to me, and use me! You… are such a vindictive harlot!”
Delianna huffs angrily, and dashes towards James, but he precisely moves to the side, causing Delianna to hit the wall and ground herself inside it. James then picks up the cross from Elsa and grabs a handful of silver dust. As Delianna attempts to push herself out, she gets grabbed by the throat by a strong hand from James, feeling her skin burn by an object. She notices it was the cross burning her neck, which causes her to scream in pain. James then puts his other hand full of silver onto Delianna’s face, and starts to pray along with Elsa, who was now on her feet. Unable to handle the burning from the cross and the silver, Delianna grabs James’ right hand and pushes it away forcefully, causing his shoulder to dislocate, and back away from Delianna. Unable to move his right arm, James goes to throw a left hook to Delianna’s face, but she was able to move her head out of the way from his fist, then strikes him in the stomach with a strong knee.
James falls to the floor, holding his stomach in agonizing pain and trying to gasp for air while Delianna pulls herself out of the crater she made from the wall. Seeing that James is incapacitated, Delianna starts feeling the burns and blood on her face and neck that were slowly healing. She then glares at Elsa, then walks towards her bearing her fang and claws. Elsa attempts to form something with the remaining silver on the floor and within her body. She forms a thick layer cover with silver, and fires it at Delianna with the last of her strength. Seeing the silver heading towards her, Delianna quickly dashes out of the way, and darts at Elsa, slashing the back of her leg. Elsa yells out and falls onto the floor, trying to crawl away from her while her back was turned. Delianna then turns, glaring at Elsa, causing Elsa to look her in the eye as she foresees Delianna’s fate.
“I see your future, Delianna Remi…” Elsa speaks, prompting Delianna to stop walking with bewilderment. “Misfortune will come to you, now and forever times two. A fitting, well-deserved end for a rage filled vampire, will happen in the coming centuries from the men or women she has chosen to sire. With fate and decision chosen by thee, thine’s ashes will be spread by the sired into the sea…”
Delianna’s eyes glow in response as she smirks at Elsa. She walks towards the downed woman, decides to sit on top of her.
“Oh, Mother…” Delianna responds mockingly. “You are such a poet.”
Delianna then snatches Elsa’s necklace from around her neck. “But your poetry and curses are not going to save you!”
She then sinks her fangs into Elsa’s neck, and drinks her dry of her blood in a matter of minutes. James witnesses the whole scene which makes him scream out in anguish, prompting Delianna turn to look at him with a bloody face. Seeing that James’ back was to her, Delianna quietly walks toward him.
“Mother… Father.” He whispers to himself with tears in his eyes. “Nyris, Deborah… Theresa… I’m so sorry. I wasn’t strong to save you all…”
While he lay on the floor holding his arm and stomach in pain in his thoughts, James feels a hand grabbing the back of his shirt, and dragging him out of the cathedral. Knowing it was Delianna, he wonders where she was taking him, but his stomach and right shoulder were in so much pain, he could not stop holding on to them, and wished for his pain, physical and mental, to end.
. . .
As the minutes passed, James felt Delianna fling him onto the ground on his back. James realizes he was outside in one of the alleyways. With his mental state replaying what he saw, he was unable to predict what was going to happen. He then sees Delianna standing over him with an indifferent look on her face. She then sits on top of him and pulls his face close to hers as she smells his scent, making her fangs show through her sadistic smile.
“Oh, James…” She moans. “I must say, I’ve missed us getting this close. Remember when I said I wanted to get close again with you?”
James chose not to say a word which annoyed Delianna.
“Okay, fine. You don’t want to talk to me anymore? Then I’ll relive the moment all by myself.”
With her hands, Delianna pulls his pants down, exposing his member, which makes James quickly attempt to push her away. Delianna then held his hands, binding them together while he struggled to free himself. Since Delianna was not wearing anything underneath, Delianna positions herself and pushes James inside of her. Feeling this, James yells angrily and struggles to get his hands free, and even trying to shake her off, but could not do so due to her strength.
“Stop, Delianna!” He shouts demandingly. “Get your damn hands off me, you goddamn--!”
With Delianna’s right hand, she slaps and chokes James as she continues assaulting him. She then lowers her head to his ear.
“I don’t want to kill you, but if you keep causing problems, I will!” She threatens. “I will continue to do this and drink you dry, and you will be nothing but dust. Do you understand?!”
James reluctantly nods as he struggles to breathe. Satisfied with James’ answer, Delianna lets go of his throat, making him gasp for air as she continues. James feels tears flowing from his eyes as he wishes for this to end, wishing for his life to end. Deep in his mind, James wanted Delianna to kill him since she killed everyone he loved. But the other side of him wanted to live and avenge his family, and kill Delianna with the anger coursing through him. He then remembers the words he said to her the day they split apart, and in the end, she proved him right. He snaps back to reality as he feels himself release, stifling his groans as the feeling overwhelms him. He then hears Delianna chuckle as she pulls him out, and sits on his lap.
“Once again, James, you’re good.” She compliments with a smile.
James ignores her and looks her in the eye, wiping the smile from her face.
“Remember what I told you on the day we separated?” He asks in a low tone. When I said that your trauma doesn’t make you? Do you feel proud of what you’ve done to me? You’ve repeated the cycle. You made your trauma turn you into a monster. The one who had hurt herself… and her loved one.”
Delianna’s eyes start glowing with anger.
“So, finish what you started.” He speaks with no life in his voice. “Go on and kill me.”
Delianna’s anger then disappears, and her smile returns as she stares James’ down with her glowing crimson eyes, touching on his chest, then putting her hand over his mouth.
“Consider yourself lucky that I didn’t bite you when we first met.” She comments. “I really felt something with you. So, for that, I’ll give you something to remember me by.”
Out of impulse, Delianna sinks her teeth into James’s neck, and injects her venom into him. As James starts groaning in pain, Delianna gets off of him and runs off into the night, leaving him in the alleyway. The groans then turn into screams as James feels the venom burn through his entire body, making him twist and turn in agony through his transformation. His irises turn from brown to crimson red, and his canines turn into fangs. As the minutes pass, the burning pain ceases with James still on the ground, silent as the night itself. He then continues replaying in his mind everything that happened from Harland to his family, and to him. He did not feel broken, but fractured and numb inside. He could not feel fear, but felt the anger welling deep inside. As it begins to rain, he looks up at the night sky, laying on the ground as the rain starts to shower him.
