Birds chirped outside our bedroom window, Jameson staring out of the window. Guilt ate at him, his white imperial suit was slightly dirty. Swinging my legs over the bed, my bare feet pounded over to him. Launching myself at him, he caught me in his arms. Teardrops crashed onto my face, his hands were trembling. Wiping away his tears, my lips kissed his sweetly.
“That wasn’t you. Besides you saved me for once.” I teased playfully, his brow cocking. “I love you, Dragon.” The door burst open, embarrassment reddening my face at the basic fact that I was naked. Ripping off his cape, he covered me up as Emerald burst in. Tears flooded from his eyes, a snarl curling on Jameson’s lips.
“Thank goodness!” He blubbered happily, wrapping his arms around us. “I understand that you are going on a journey, but I want you back regardless of your progress by the third trimester. Can you handle that? Lastly, I would like you to attend tea in a few minutes with my company and me. So please get ready.” Nodding, he skipped out of the room. Leaping off of his lap, my fingers traced my closet. Settling on a pair of black riding pants and a red lace blouse, he clutched me to his chest. Saying nothing, he slid on my black bra. His energy was down, black bags hollowing out underneath his eyes. Sliding on my blouse, more tears streamed down his face. Shit did I break him.
“Did I break you?” I blurted out desperately, surprise widening his eyes. “I am sorry if I broke you.” Shivers shook my body, his finger lifting up my chin. Loving eyes gazed back into mine, his lips kissing mine hungrily. A soft blush rose to our cheeks, my heart fluttering.
“I will always be your hero.” He promised numbly, buttoning up my blouse. “I will always be by your side. Please, let’s not talk about yesterday until I am ready. Can you do that?” Nodding, a warm smile lit up his face. Pulling my riding pants up, his nimble hands tied the strings. His palms felt warm against my bump, his lips brushing it. Picking out a black black blazer, the door opened again. A masked maid walked in, a letter in her palm. Passing it to me, she scurried out. Shoving it into my blazer pocket, my feet slid into my worn boots. Brushing through my hair, he twisted into a simple side bun. Tossing on my blazer, we stepped out of the room towards the gardens. My heart fell, disappointment visible in Jameson’s eyes as his aunt was sitting at the table. Dirt crunched as he pulled out my chair, an audible scoff pouring from her withered lips. Her hair was all gray now, her golden eyes shimmering in my direction.
“How unladylike.” She chastised bitterly, resting her head on her white gloved fingers. “You will never be my empress. You are pathetic Jameson, picking a demon for a wife. How st-” Slamming my hands on the table, glass clinked as everyone leapt back a bit. Standing to my feet, a death glare shot from me shot in her direction. My tail flicked with annoyance, rage trembling my body.
“Who the hell do you think you are?” I barked hotly, tossing tea in her face. “I am sick of your fucking attitude. Do you do this to everyone, or just him? Do you get off on making him miserable? Are you st-” The crack of her hand slapping my face stunned all of us, her face reddening. Veins bulge on her face, Jameson staring off into space. He was definitely not okay, my heart shattering into pieces.
“How dare you, you filthy wench!” She screamed shrilly, tossing hot tea on my face. “I want you gone out of my kingdom. Demon trash like you doesn’t belong in your position. You are just a -” Jameson stood up, golden flames licking his body. Shrinking back, she fell on her ass. Emerald held the two of them apart, both of them screaming at each other. A wave of nausea hit me, the teatime meal threatening to come back up to visit. The world spun around me, my body swaying as Jameson caught me.
“I want your titles stripped.” Jameson growled irritably, his words fading in and out. “You have been more than inappropriate to the future empress. You are kicked out of our home. If you don’t leave by tonight, I will have you arrested as a traitor to the kingdom. Do you agree, old man?” The garden blurred, chilly air rushing around me as he sprinted down random halls. All of his running around was not helping my morning sickness, him finally skidding to a stop. My breath hitched at the sight of books all around me, guards running by the room. This was my heaven, the bounty of information all around me. Heaven was shattered by a black metal trash bin being shoved in my face, hot vomit flying up. The chunks thudded to the bottom, a cold sweat making me clammy. Fever burned my cheeks, his body pressed against the wall. Resting my head on his lap, he played with my horns.
“You didn’t have to stand up for me.” He sighed tiredly, his lips pressing together tensely. “She will always be like that. Hopefully she takes the hint this time.” Rubbing the back of his neck, a snarl curled on my lips. Fury boiled in my veins, his lack of reaction frightening me.
“You are my dragon!” I yelled bitterly, sitting up and facing him. “That you never existed because it was an alternative reality. The you sitting across from me is the real you. The real you is kind, gentle, and grumpy.” Weak, I felt weak. Pulling me close to his chest, sobs wracked his body.
“I am a dangerous monster, and you know that!” He shouted angrily, pushing me away. “It was the fact that you were chained up, and I was hurting you with a smile. You were the first person to not be scared of me, or to tell me off. You should just leave me before that hap-” Surprise widened his eyes, my arms clutching him to my chest.
“Do you know why I love you, Dragon?” I exclaimed proudly, him trying to get out of my warm embrace. “It is because you weren’t scared of my horns, granted you were a bit of a dick but the past is the past. If you think you are a monster then I am a monster as well. So let’s be monsters together.” A tired smile brightened his face, his arms falling to his side. Loud snores echoed in the dusty room, terrified screams exploding from his lips as he gripped my blazer. A book fell down next to me, a gust of wind blowing it to a specific page.
“You need to help him in his dream.” Scaly’s voice boomed, a milky white ball rolling to my side. “This is a dream pearl, and it will allow you to find him. Go, my child. Help my priest.” Nodding, my eyes scanned the page. Taking a deep breath, white holy flames enveloped me.
“Lady of dreams, grant me permission to enter his dream.” I chanted confidently, grasping the glowing pearl. “Give me a day in dreamland. Thank you.” A white light blinded me, sweet slumber taking me to dreamland.
“You may have your wish granted.” A child’s voice announced happily, white sparkles floating all around me. “You must be the demon priestess of light. Nice to meet you. A bit of his evil self attached himself to him, so kill him in his dream. The intense nightmares will stop, but not completely.” Smiling to myself, my fingers wrapped around my staff.
“I wouldn’t expect the trauma to be all gone, so it is all good.” I replied happily, the black of his mind shifting around. “Thank you very much for this opportunity.” The garden surrounded us, his mother laying down in the bed, her white hair splaying all around her. Her face was gaunt, dried blood on the corner of her lips. A younger Jameson stood next to her, holding her hand. They were talking, the words never meeting my ears. Golden flames licked his skin, his eyes trembling with angry grief.
“You can’t leave me.” He cried out desperately, his voice cracking. A flash of white catching my eyes, Jameson was running away from the scene. A black ball bounced after him, a triumphant smile dancing across my determined face. Got you! A black door popped up in front of them, the door swinging open. Both of them walked through the door, my boots crashing after them. My jaw dropped to the ground, a sea of black clothing spread as far as the eye could see. Harsh whispers echoed all around me, the rumor being that he killed his mother with a curse. A hand grabbed mine, making me jump. Spinning around, a very distraught Jameson clutched me close to his chest.
“I don’t deserve you.” He wept, the whispers turning to yells. “I didn’t want you to see this side of me.” The black ball bounced into the open casket, the lilies dancing in the chilly breeze. Screams of terror broke my eardrums, his mother sitting up. Her black dress rustled in the breeze as she hopped out of the casket.
“I am here to help my dragon.” I squeaked out, cold sweat dripping off of my brow. “I am here to help you defeat the small bit of evil that attached itself to you.” The scene faltered, her heels clicking towards me. Decaying skin fell to the ground, his dark scaly face being revealed. Peeling off her skin, nausea churned my stomach. The skin suit plopped to the floor, his stolen metal glistening in the red light of his dream. 1
“Hello again my dear friends.” He mused cruelly, tracing my cheek. “I liked you better without clothes. I just want to k-” Smacking his hand away, he drew his new sword. Golden flames swirled uncontrollably, his evil version laughing at him.
“I will take you down once and for all.” Jameson growled through gritted teeth, shoving me to the ground. “You will not take my vixen from me. Never will anyone ever hurt her again.” His nose began to bleed, drops of blood falling onto his suit. Black chains held me down, my staff sliding across the floor. A bump on my head knocked me out, the battle cries of both men fading in and out. Darkness enveloped me, a soft woman’s voice waking me back up.
“Save my son, and I will eternally be grateful.” The voice whispered, a black room filling up with blood surrounding me. I guess it was a good day to not wear white I joked to myself as the chains disappeared in a puff of white sparkles. Standing to my feet, blood splashed all over me. Sighing to myself, the only way was through spout pouring the lovely red blood. Climbing up the ladder, I pulled myself up. A snarl curled on my lips as a fresh wave of the red shit crashed over me. Crying to myself for a moment, my feet kept stepping forward. Relief washed over me, the white marble floors rested underneath my boots. Blood dripped onto the marble, the whole floor turning red. Black clouds thundered above me, ribbons of the red stuff swirling around my arm. Ripping off my boots, my bare feet smashed down the hall. Crashing into the throne room, a possessed Jameson glared at me.
“Let him go!” I demanded shrilly, my fists clenching tightly. “Or you will face the wrath of my venomous blood.” Raising my staff, he charged at me with his holy blade in the attack position. The blood poured into my staff, the white staff painting itself red.
“Let’s play, you foolish little girl.” He thundered aggressively, the two voices throwing me off. “I am going to kill you in his head.” Cocking my brow, the golden flames swirled violently. The blade was rejecting him, the dark version getting ejected out. Ripping my staff in half, my hands spun the two blades in my hand.
“Ribbons of pure blood, allow the venom to poison my blood.” I called out irritably, the blade turning purple. “Attack the darkness standing in front of me.” Charging at each other, the curved dragon blade spun in his hand. Blood whipped around us, his black flames extinguishing the ribbons nearing him. Inky blackness dyed my eyes, ash raining down as our blades clashed violently. His foot slammed into my chest, Jameson leaping in front of me.
