Brigitte walked along the facility. Her mission was to find Rein for armor testing out in the workshop. She was excited to have a stable prototype to finally use. Though finding him was proving more difficult than she expected. So far, he was nowhere to be found. Until now. In the hangar bay, Rein was leaning against a set of steel crates whittling at a piece of wood.
“Rein, what are you doing out here?“ She asked.
“Ah Brigitte! Winston asked me to meet him on the helipad to greet the new members. I wonder why.“ Rein said. He scratched at his beard in curiosity. “Ah well. Why are you here?“
“Well, you are famous for the most heartwarming greetings.“ Brigitte said. It was strange that Winston didn’t say who would arrive other than Hanzo and Lena. “I was trying to find you for the armor testing.“
“I may have forgotten, but I can come after this!“
“Reinhardt, sorry I’m late. Good day to you as well, Brigitte.“ Winston said, lumbering over to where they stood.
“Hi Winston. I hope it’s okay that I’m here too. I was just looking for Rein for something.“
Winston chuckled before responding. “It’s fine. You may wish to greet our new members as well. Though you might find one familiar.“
Brigitte’s curiosity spiked more. She figured some originals were returning the call, but there weren’t many left that weren’t dead or didn’t seem interested. The few possibilities were McCree or Sojourn. Though she thought McCree was officially back after he brought Echo but he wasn’t around.
“Shuttle will arrive in one minute. Please stay fifteen feet away from the landing pad.“ Athena’s voice echoed over the speakers, repeating a few times.
Brigitte used her hands as a visor to block out the sun, finally seeing a tiny dot over the horizon come closer. It wasn’t long before that tiny dot turned into a shuttle and landed with a loud hiss. The large door snapped open as three people stepped out.
Lena was the first, giving a huge smile. “We’re back, haha! Mission successful!“
The second was an older man with a visor. His face contorted to annoyance with her exclamation. She was sure she didn’t know him.
Third was Hanzo, of course, being a little worse than wear from what she thought was a lack of sleep. Brigitte greeted him with a wave, which he returned with a nod.
Then where the fourth person was the biggest shock. It couldn’t be. Brigitte looked up at Reinhardt, who was shaking.
“A-ana…“ Reinhardt said in a whisper that Brigitte barely heard while he only focused on Ana.
Meanwhile, Winston shook Soldier’s hand. “Welcome to Gibraltar. Soldier, if you follow me, I will get you acquainted. Hanzo, go get checked up by Angela before a report.” Winston said. Then shook Ana’s as well. “As for you, Captain Amari, you may come when you’re ready.“ Winston put his large hand on Reinhardt’s shoulder in comfort before leading the rest away.
Brigitte and Lena were the only one left between the older couple. The younger wanted to leave to give Reinhardt time with her, but Ana smiled at both women and focused on Brigitte.
“You’ve certainly grown into a beautiful young woman, Brigitte.“ Ana said. “I hope you’ve kept him out of too much trouble while I was gone.“
“Thank you and I’ve tried.“ Brigitte said awkwardly. She didn’t just want to leave Reinhardt like that, but sensed they needed time alone.
“Come on Briggy. I’m starving. Let’s get something to eat and let the two lovebirds talk about.“ Lena said, half dragging Brigitte by the arm. “See ya!“
“It will be good to talk to you later.“ Ana said, waving Brigitte and Lena off.
Brigitte took one last look back before the door closed behind them. Just down the hall, she saw Hanzo go down the way towards the medical ward. She suddenly felt a flutter in her stomach.
“It’s good to be back. The tension was so thick on the flight, it probably could have been cut with a knife.“ Lena said, putting her hands behind her head.
“Was it that bad?“
“Well, that soldier bloke kept giving Hanzo the stink eye for the past ten hours. If Ana wasn’t around, it might have gone worse.“
That explained why Hanzo looked so haggard. She told herself she’d make him some homemade comfort food later.
“Earth to Briggy?“ Lena said, waving her hand to get Brigitte’s attention. When all Brigitte responded was a gasp, Lena chuckled. “Something on your mind?“
“There you are.“
“Oh, papa!“ Brigitte said, holding back the second small jump of surprise. Lost in her thoughts, Brigitte didn’t notice her father walk up.
“You’re getting more stealthy than I am.“ Lena said with a giggle.
“You aren’t exactly stealthy, zipping around going weeee.“ Torbjorn said, putting his hands on his hips. “Did you forget we were going to do armor tests with Reinhardt?“
“Sorry papa, I forgot.“ Brigitte said, scratching the back of head. “Rein might not be coming today. Something came up. “
“Did the lug forget too?“ Torbjorn asked.
“Actually, it’s something else. “ Lena said.
“Papa, he just found out Ana is still alive and she’s here.“ Brigitte said.
Torbjorn’s eyes went wide, his breath hitching. “Ana’s here?“
Brigitte nodded. She knew how close the three were back in the day. It was a lot for both men to take in at such short notice. “Hanzo returned from a mission and Ana was with him.”
“Why didn’t he mention it before?“ Torbjorn asked. “We all thought..“
“Probably didn’t want to get our hopes up. Or he wasn’t sure she would be where Hanzo was sent.“ Lena shrugged. “But what matters is that she’s here.“

Once they were alone, Reinhardt and Ana just stood there.
“How about we go somewhere to talk? We have a lot of catching up to do.“ Ana said, grabbing a handkerchief from her pocket, dabbing at the tears on his cheeks.
Reinhardt nodded. He carefully moved to take her hand, hesitating for a moment before holding it. Her hand was so warm and small against his. There was a part of him that thought it was just another one of his dreams. That something would rip her away from his reach.
Their walk was quiet as they took the long way to the dorms. The waves crashed against the cliff rocks below. Comforting smells of the sea air brought her back to another time.As soon as they reached his room and the door shut, Reinhardt couldn’t hold back his tears again. Falling to his knees to wrap his arms around her tiny form. Ana hugged him in return.
“A-na? How can this be? I thought you were dead...” Reinhardt said. His sobs wracked every word. “I thought.“
Ana sighed and kissed the top of his head. Hearing him like this sent a stab through her heart. She knew what she did broke him. With all they had gone through and she just disappeared. Not that she could do anything about it during the ordeal.
“I’m sorry Reinhardt. After everything that happened, I needed time. I know that can never be a good enough excuse, but I did. Albi.“
“The last thing we heard over the communications was you saying Lacroix’s name and screaming before the static. They spent months trying to find anything about your whereabouts.“ Reinhardt said, caressing her cheek. His finger tracing under the eyepatch. “I spent years looking for any shred of hope.“
Ana took a breath, leaning into his touch. “After the shot to my eye, I woke up in a small town clinic. No recollection of who I was. Even the people there didn’t know who I was, to my surprise. At least that’s what I assumed. I spent two years living another life. My memories came back in flashes.“
“Why didn’t you didn’t you contact us after they returned?“
“Because I didn’t know how to return. The United Nations disbanded Overwatch. Most of my friends scattered to the four winds or thought dead. Convinced that I was, too. It took a lot of strings to find information about you or Fareeha.“ Ana said. “There was a part of me that thought it was best to just let it be. Let you all move on.“
Reinhardt tilted his head in thought. “Then what changed that? How did Winston know you were alive?“
Ana couldn’t help but chuckle slightly. “He didn’t know precisely that I was the one who answered the recall. Unless he remembered the code I sent with it. Since I am here, he did. As for the change of mind? I think I just missed you. Though it would probably be too much to see Fareeha. I drove her away from the thought of Overwatch for her safety.“
“I may have an answer for that. Brigitte and I still write to her occasionally.“

Jack walked around the office, his scoff hidden by the mask. He honestly never thought he’d return to this place, good and bad memories aside.
“So you’re actually doing it? Think you can handle my former job better?“ Jack asked.
“Someone has to, Morrison. The world needs Overwatch again.“ Winston said, plopping himself in the large makeshift seat.
“That name is dead, and I’d like to keep it that way. Most people don’t even know that I was still kicking after the Swiss HQ bomb.“ Jack said, popping off his visor before sitting across from the desk. It revealed a large scar over his rough forehead. “So how did you?“
“I had some sources look into you and it added up. You hit secure locations of the former Overwatch, that only head officers would know. Plus, there was no body found, much like Amari and Reyes.“
“Reyes is very much alive. If you call what he became alive. He goes by the codename Reaper and is a head of the new Talon.“
Winston rubbed his chin in thought. So that was the black hooded man that attacked. It was hard to believe that it could have been Reyes. Though how the shotguns functioned in battle reminded him of Reyes’ fighting style. Winston still didn’t understand the mechanisms. “I’m surprised you are saying all this so easily.“
“I can’t stop you, so better you receive this information.“ Jack scoffed. “If I’m going to be here, I might as well do something. But I have two demands for my services.“
Winston raised an eyebrow. “They are?“
Jack leaned over the desk, his blue glaring. “I will be called Soldier 76. No one is to know that I was Morrison. Two, I do missions my way.“
“Fine, but don’t do anything completely reckless on the field. I do not want casualties.“
“Sometimes casualties happen.” Jack grunted, walking out without another word.
Winston sighed after the door shut. He had his work cut out for him.
