Rain was the first to pass out during the drinking game. It was a rather childish game in retrospect. Akumi refused to play along, mentioning how she had to work tomorrow even though it was a Sunday. She left the house and walked down the pathway, as she walked she heard rustling leaves beside her. She looked over at a bush and shouted “who's there?” The bush only rustled, it sounded like a huge animal. “ Whoever is out there, I got a weapon on me,” she shouted again.
Then rising out of the bushes was a man with green skin, he looked like a corpse, then his eyes turned all white and his mouth enlarged. Akumi grabbed her gun out of her jacket and pointed it at the monster. She fired the gun at the monster but the gunshot seemed to not hit the monster. The monster walked closer to Akumi then closer, she screamed but it seemed nobody heard her.
. . .
Rain woke up to the noise of someone talking. He rubbed his eyes and saw he was on a couch. He could hear “Okay bye bye, tell your aunt guidant you had fun. Okay, see you.” From Elio. Rain rose from the couch and stretched his arms out.
Elio turned around and smiled “ Hey morning rain, sorry you lost but you kinda have to leave now.” Rain rubbed his eyes `` That quickly? Okay?”
Elio shrugged “ Astrid has some model producer coming over so everyone has to leave like now.”
Rain got up from the couch. “ Okay I get it, I'm leaving bye.” That wasn't rude at all.
Rain left the house and walked all the way down to the bus stop. But as he was walking he couldn't help but to feel like something was watching him. He turned around and saw nothing behind him. He shrugged it off as him being paranoid. He stood over by the bus stop and waited. He wondered how everyone would react when he came home, more than likely there would be another argument and his mother would start to cry again. He rolled his eyes at the thought and stared at a tree with orange and brown leaves that fell to the ground.
The bus finally came by, Rain hopped on the bus and paid for the ride, and sat in the same seat he did with Sebastian yesterday. He leaned on a chair and fell to sleep.
The bus stopped and Rain woke up to see his neighborhood. In the ordinary suburban neighborhood where nothing bad happens, everyone has the same model car and the same tree. There was no uniqueness whatsoever in that neighborhood. It surprised him that his own father would want to move over there.
He hopped out of the bus and walked home. The house was easy to spot, expectably with Giancarlo standing right outside the porch. Rain stepped near the porch and Giancarlo frowned " I thought you finally had the guts to move out." Rain shook his head " Sorry, not today, more than likely not tomorrow, maybe next week if I get a raise." Giancarlo scrolled " You should change your job."
Rain Rolled his eyes. It was the same old argument repeatedly: move out and get a new job. " Can we at least discuss your very concerning discussion inside? Don't want your neighbor to think you're a prick, do you?" Giancarlo walked inside the house.
Rain followed him only to be followed by his stepfather yelling. " You set your brother home alone as well? And I thought you were supposed to be a great Rain Miller? That's probably why you dropped out. You know Sebastian is going to drop out now?"
Rain just shoved over to the stairs" Nice to see you as well step-father." He said mockingly.
The stepfather didn't seem so happy with that.
Before his step-father could yell again his mother walked into the sunroom. “ Hey there's no use to all this arguing and remember Minji Miller is coming to stay with us for a while.” She said,
Rain grinned, his grandmother didn't visit often, and when she did it was always enjoyable. He ran up the stairs but he heard his stepfather say “ So is my mother, We are going to clean out that old room today.”
His mother gasped and said, “ But that's Joon Woo's old study.”
Rain walked to a door and opened it, it creaked as it opened, and he walked into the room holding his breath. The room was a cream color, with brown accents. There was a brown table next to a widow piled with papers and books. There were not one, not two but four bookcases in the room. His father adored researching about the places he had to go, sometimes he had to go out of the country and go sailing on a boat to Odnoxymer, an expansionist empire to do trade with. Sometimes he’d even go to Vast water, a pirating island full of gang members for their government. The map of the world was stabled on the wall.
Sebastian peeked from the door. “Hey, Rain?” Rain turned around “Oh hey Sebastian, what is it?“
“Why are you in dads study?” He asked, Rain just shrugged and said “ To look around.”
Rain looked at the table and saw a plain brown notebook on the table. He picked it up curiously.
