That took a turn.

When I arrived at school on Monday, I thought the worst it could happen was that I owed Ty an apology for Saturday and he would be still sulking about it.

And I was totally fine with apologizing and making up to him. In fact, I was more than ready to do so. But his heat stroke threw me off completely. And it didn't affect me as much as I thought it would. I mean, I got turned on by him but that's not exactly new.

It just usually happens when we're naked together. Or at the very least kissing. But I haven't experienced that without coming into contact with him or seeing him disrobed.

That was definitely a first. Also, even though we don't have classes together till the final one, I could smell him throughout the school. His scent was so strong, it made me horny even when I was in a completely different class than him.

I'm afraid for him. I didn't think this was such a big deal, to be honest. In fact, I've barely even heard of heat before today. It usually only strike females for what I could gather.

Females who spend some time withholding completing the bond. It's sort of nature's push into that direction. Because you can't refuse to mate your partner. Werewolf nature won't allow it. I just thought we'd have more time, that's all.

Actually, I didn't even think males could go on heat. The problem with it is that it takes your ability to consent away from you. That's why he bowed his head in submission. He would've agreed to anything I'd ask of him. That's incredibly dangerous.

And not what I want at all. Of course, I want my mate to want me, to need me, to desire me. But I can't have anyone saying yes to me without thought, without consciousness.

That's no better than drugging people to have sex with them. Goddess forbids.

No, I want my mate back to normal thank you very much. I want the same guy who said that if I ever did something he didn't like, he would take me down. My feisty mate.

Normally this would be offensive to an Alpha. Or to any male with an ego, let's be honest. But he proved time after time that he could definitely take me down. That could be offensive to some people, but I'm cool with it.

I wouldn't be cool with anyone else threatening me. But he is the only exception.

Now, he's been here at the hospital for almost an hour. The doctors took him inside and haven't returned yet. Tony's here because of course he is. He is Tony. Uncle and Aunt are working but said to call if needed.

I'm pacing in the lounge when I see his mom and dad arrive. They immediately go to me.

"I'm so sorry. This is all my fault." - I told them on the verge of tears. His dad hugs me close and his mom is right beside him.

"It's not your fault. It takes two to tango." - Alpha Burke told me. He looked worried but I almost laughed at his metaphor, not gonna lie.

After we parted, they went inside to talk to a nurse, get any news about Tyler. I'm his mate but he's still a minor, so legally they are the ones who the hospital staff will brief about him.

Some time later, the doctor returns and I joined the Burkes to hear the news.

"Tyler's doing well. He came in severely dehydrated due to his heat, but we pushed fluids on him and some medicine to manage his condition." - The doctor informed us. I sighed in relief.

"But doctor, I thought only females got stroke by heat. Isn't it right?" - Alpha Burke asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

"Yes, normally it is. But because Tyler is mated to an Alpha, a male Alpha, his body is adapting to his new situation, reacting to his mate's Alpha DNA." - He replied, making the Burkes glance at me and I looked down in shame.

"I can take you to see him now if you'd like." - He offered and they wasted no time in following him inside.

I would go too but it's best if I give them some time alone with their son. Plus, I'm so damn ashamed of myself right now.

I can't believe I turned Tyler's body on itself. I should have been more conscious of our mating, maybe I should've pushed to its completion. Fuck!

I just never in a million years thought this could happen. I only tried to give him time to get around the idea. I mean, he freaked out by me asking for a kiss, what would he do if I have asked for more?

On the other hand, that was more than 2 weeks ago. So people evolve, feelings as well. I should have known that. He was pushing for that last Saturday and I was too stupid to listen.

This whole ordeal could've been avoided.

As if sensing my unraveling, Tony came closer and hugged me. I cried on his shoulders. I couldn't stop myself. It's bad. We just stood there at the hospital lounge holding each other while I sobbed.

Half and hour later, I was more composed and the Burkes came out looking for me. I see them and they can tell I've been crying.

"Listen, Jack. We don't blame you for this any more than I would blame the Goddess for giving me the love of my life." - He told me, looking affectionately at his mate, who smiled at him.

"We also know that this situation is different than both of you would've expected it. I know it can be a process and it shouldn't be rushed. So, we want you to know that we get it. Tyler asked to see you. He is in room 347." - Mrs. Burke said in a light tone, her features are so sweet and her smile is welcoming.

I smiled softly at them. This could have been a lot worse without their support, especially in this particular situation right now. So I'm glad to have them on our corner.

"Thank you, Alpha. Thank you, Luna." - I replied with a weak smile. I walked inside to find Tyler's room, they would wait for him in the lounge.

When I entered Tyler's room, I saw him in the hospital bed still hooked to a drip. I gasped at the scene, but he was alert and conscious. He turned to look at me as soon as I appeared in front of him.

"Hi. Are you all right?" - I asked in a worried tone as I walked inside the room.

"I can still take you down even with a drip hooked to my arm." - He snickered and I let out a heavy sigh.

"Oh thank Goddess!" - I gasped in relief.

He frowned at this, looking at me with a weird expression on his face.

"Not the reaction I expected from my reply." - He said with a confused glance at me.

"Yeah, that's because you don't realize how much you freaked me out when you fucking bowed your head to me." - I told him with a troubled tone.

"You freaked everyone out!" - I genuinely gasped. It's the most scared I've ever been so far since mated, which granted it's not been that long. But still...

"I know, Jack. I can't believe I bowed too. I don't even bow to my own dad." - He said in an embarrassed tone.

"I'm so sorry for all this. I know it's my fault." - I confessed as I came closer to his bed with a painful expression on my face.

"Why is it your fault? Were you supposed to rape your mate in order for us to complete the bond?" - He snapped at me, making me gasp in shock at his words. I sat down by his side.

"Please don't ever say that again. And no, it's my fault because you weren't supposed to go on heat, your body only changed in contrast to my Alpha DNA. Males don't get heat." - I told him with a guilty expression on my face.

"And if you weren't mated to me you wouldn't." - I continued with misty eyes.

He sat back on the bed, turning to look at me with a curious expression.

"Did you petition the Goddess to have her mate me to you? Did you ask to be born an Alpha? Is it your fault both of us have never even kissed a boy before 2 weeks ago?" - He asked with a serious look on his face.

"No." - I kept staring at him for a minute until I realized he actually wanted an answer to all these questions.

"So, I guess this is none of our faults then. And I'm not letting you blame yourself for this. I could have pushed you into completing the bond if I wanted to. Just as much as you could. It's not supposed to be rushed. It's been only two weeks." - He argued, not letting me beat myself up.

"You're awesome, did you know that?" - I said and I kissed him on the forehead.

"Yes, I do." - He replied and I snorted loudly at his response. There's my feisty mate who I've grown to like so much.

I'm Alpha. The future commander of the largest werewolf pack of the country. The last thing I need in my life is a yes man. Or worse, a yes mate. My mom was a skinny beautiful woman who looked half my dad's size.

But still she was a remarkable female who didn't let my dad get away with anything. Yes, he was Alpha of the pack. He lead 20 thousand werewolves. But SHE lead our family. My mom. My dad had the last word everywhere outside our home. Inside, my mom called the shots. And dad wasn't stupid to not respect his mate. She understood her role even more so than he did his. She was Luna, head of the household. And she was a fierce Luna, my mom. I miss her every single day.

So yeah, I guess I do get in some way why I was mated to him. I needed someone who could call me on my bullshit and isn't afraid of me whatsoever. Right now, this person is Tyler Burke.

The doctor entered the room.

"Tyler, I'll discharge you after this last drip runs its course and you can go home then. We'll give you some medicine to manage your condition, but I don't need to tell you that there's only one way to cure heat." - He said in an informative tone. And he also blushed at the end of his speech, looking at the both of us in the room.

"Thank you, doc. Yes, I'm aware." - Tyler replied in an awkward tone. I get a little flustered. The doctor leaves the room.

I stayed with him until he got discharged and his parents took him home. Tony and I returned home too. I didn't go to warrior training, but I texted Delta Jones who was made aware of the situation.

I briefed Gus and Lidia about Tyler's recent developments when they got home. They were gobsmacked at the news, naturally. It's unheard of a werewolf going into heat since before their generation. But they were very supportive of me like always.

The next day, I went to school earlier because I wanted to catch Ty as soon as he arrived, which I did. Tony came too because he wouldn't miss the ride to school.

"Are you better? How are you doing?" - I asked him as soon as he approached his friends.

"Good morning, Alpha. I'm better, yes. The sweat is gone, so is the irritability." - He replied to me, nonchalant.

"Great." - I said, sighing in relief.

Jason, Peter, Elsa and Anna all hugged him.

"You really freaked us out yesterday." - Jason told him as we got settled in their corner of the school yard.

"I heard." - He replied in a curt tone. I could tell he's embarrassed and didn't want to talk about it.

"Seriously, Ty. When you bowed your head I thought you're seizing or having a stroke." - Jason spoke worriedly.

"I know, Jay. Don't need to remind me!" - Tyler snapped at him.

"What were you saying about irritability?" - I snickered, looking at him while laughing.

"I said that if you bust my balls, I'll take you down in front of the entire school." - He glared at me, making everyone gasp at his words.

"I've missed you!" - I told him, grinning wide.

Everyone kept staring at me like I'm a crazy person but I don't care. I missed his feistyness.

"Ty, you caused a phenomenon yesterday at school." - Peter informed him with a mischievous grin.

"Your heat caused a school wide thirst that made all vending machines run out of beverages to sell. Really, there was a juice and water shortage." - Peter laughed while telling.

"Oh my Goddess. Really?" - Ty gasped at this, looking wide-eyed.

"Yeah and that's not all. You also had an effect on all the students. I think you may get a stink eye from the school janitor." - Jason said, barely containing his laughter.

Tyler and I looked at each other in confusion.

"Why the school janitor?" - He asked him, puzzled.

"Because most of the boys rushed to the restrooms to 'take the edge off' after they scented you." - He replied making an air quote and we gasped. Tyler looked disgusted but Jason is laughing it off. Tony also scowled.

"Really, I've never smelled so much se--"

"Jason! I get it, don't need to be gross about it! - Tyler cut him off, grimacing.

"And that's not all." - Peter said, sounding mysterious.

"There's more?" - Tyler gasped in shock. I was already dreading what's next.

"Yeah, 10 students were suspended yesterday for inappropriate relations on school property." - Elsa informed us and I looked at Tyler utterly shocked.

"10?" - Tyler shouted. Tony was floored and so were we.

"Yeah. And the only reason why they weren't expelled is because of what the school is calling 'The Luna Effect'." - Anna said, to both of our surprised faces.

"You've gotta be kidding me!" - Tyler was beyond gobsmacked.

"No. The parents of the students suspended are demanding the principal to revoke their suspension on account of your heat." - She explained in a serious tone.

"Honestly, it's the talk of the town." - She continued, a smile hiding in the corner of her mouth.

Tyler and I can't begin to put into words how we felt, but especially him who is the pivot of all of this.

"I don't wanna brag, but they only suspended 10 because they didn't find the other couples spread around school." - Jason boasted, smiling mischievously.

"Shut up! Who did you hook up with?" - Tyler asked him, who didn't say anything but gave a sideway glance at Elsa.

"I can't believe this! You're cheating on me already?" - Tyler snickered, staring at her. She blushed under his gaze.

"Hey, you mate, you loose." - Jason glared at him, defending his partner in crime who looked at us silently and feeling guilty, though she had no reason for it. Both of them are free to do as they please now that she can't be with Tyler anymore.

"So, in short, not only am I not having sex with anyone. But my heat caused the entire school to score except for me. Great!" - He smirked, making all of his friends laugh hysterically, even his sister.

"Thanks, Luna." - Jason snickered, winking at him.

We all go to class soon after this informative meeting.

The teacher barely get a word in class when the principal announces on the speaker system:

"Attention students. The school board has decided that all the pupils suspended due to the Luna Effect will regress to school effective immediately."

All the students cheered and celebrated loudly at this.

Daisy - yes, her - quietly comes inside the classroom and takes her seat. So do others throughout the school.

"However, the school administration reiterates that is still very much forbidden to complete the bond on school grounds. This was an one time only exception." - Principal continued trough the speaker.

Of course, all the students kept staring at me and Tyler giggling like idiots.

"Last but not least, though it's forbidden to complete the bond at school, you're more than welcome to do it elsewhere, Alpha Stonehold and Luna Burke."

The entire school broke down in laughter. At our class, all of the students laughed and pointed at us. It's unbearable. Tyler and I blushed so hard I thought his heat would break out again.

It took them 5 minutes to quiet down.

I've always known I was special. But maybe this once, I wished I wasn't the only exception.
