The white hood of my mother’s cape hung over my eyes, Jameson and his father not far behind me. A dark energy alerted me, one of my grandmother’s assassins was hiding in the crowd. An audible gasp traveled down the street, my hood falling. People screamed, Eros stepping towards me with a brown haired little girl. A snarl curled on my lips, my hand sliding into my boots. My fingers curled around my mother’s Heaven’s Staff. Banging it on the ground, it doubled in size. A white phoenix curled around the white metal, holy white flames flickering off of the top. The girl bit his arms, her mother snatching her up.
“Step down Eros!” I ordered, snapping my fingers. “You have no business here. As Priestess of Light, I claim this land as holy.” Banging Heaven’s Staff on the ground again, pure white magic filled the cobblestone’s infinite cracks. Cracking my neck, Eros erupted into maniacal laughter.
“Damn girl, you really are a disgrace to the demon race, then again you are a half-demon.” He taunted cruelly, creating a circle of black energy. “To think I wanted to make you my bride.” His inky black eyes bore into mine, his slicked back hair showing one line of white hair. His black leather robes fluttered in the blustery gusts. Chuckling to myself, a devious smile curled on my lips.
“Call this my official defection from the demon realm.” I barked confidently, cocking my head. “My mother was the Priestess of Light in this land while my father was the Emperor of the Underworld. Kind of funny isn’t it? So, they both came to me. I chose the light. Screw the darkness, this was my way out of Hell. As for you, you are a disgusting pig who would have used me for your carnal pleasures. Why else do you think that demon weapons hurt me like they did?” Cocking his brows, his black blade hung over his shoulders.
“Even if you had all of the powers in the world, you couldn’t beat me. Why is your nose bleeding? Could it be that your demon half is rejecting your powers?” He retorted hotly, raising his blade. “Let’s fight, little bitch. You are no more than a dog to me.” Touching my nose, blood did indeed soak my black silk gloves. Pulling the staff apart, two dual blades of white light grew from the feathered handles.
“Whatever.” I snapped icily, glaring into his black eyes. “I vow to protect the land of light, so you have to die. Such a shame.” His boots burned as he charged at me, my blades clashing with his violently. Jameson wanted to help out, but his father held him back. The villagers watched over a white stone wall, fright in their eyes.
“Goddess of Light, grant me your fire to cleanse the demon out of my home.” I chanted confidently, white flames devouring the swords. Rolling his eyes, black flames devoured his growing blade. Ignoring the fear rising inside of my chest, my lips started to quiver in fear. His foot slammed into my stomach, internal bleeding beginning. Coughing up blood, black blood covered my face as my left blade sliced off his dominant arm. His sword dropped, my boots launching me into the air. Alarm widened my eyes, his arm growing back. White flame wings exploded from my back, the people looking upon me with childlike wonder.
“Shit!” I cursed out loud, mother’s covering their children’s ears. Our blows equaled each other, ashes snowing around us. Scanning his body for a weakness, cobblestone cracked as my boot slammed him back on the streets. A red spot blinked on the center of his forehead, a special black gem hiding under his skin. Shaking his head, he launched himself at me. Surprise widened my eyes, his blade narrowly missing me. A line of blood soaked my fine blue silk gown, the sight of it instilling rage in me.
“Flames of the White Phoenix, strike bold and true.” I ordered, beginning to feel the wear and tear of internal bleeding. Raising my right sword, the left blocked his hit. The tip touched the gem in his forehead, a sly grin curling on his lips.
“You miss-” He gloated gleefully, his face falling. Tilting my head, evil laughter exploded from my lips. Confusion twisted his face, my lips parting to speak. Finally, I could strike back where it hurt my grandmother.
“Purify.” I wheezed, white flames devouring him. Little by little his body turned to ash, only a diamond in my hand. Landing gracefully, I slid my blades back into the staff. Tossing the diamond up in the air, another glob of blood ended up on my glove. Swallowing a bit of blood, the spell I needed came to mind.
“Turn the darkness into butterflies.” I wheezed, falling to my knees. A bright light blinded me, butterflies emerging from the gem. Children gasped in wonder as they landed on their shoulders, the little girl running up to me.
“You are so pretty.” She whispered, passing me a black bottle. “This should stop the internal bleeding.” Her mother snatched her away, a look of horror in her eyes. A man stood up from the crowd, and smacked the medicine out of my hand. His cold blue eyes glared into my mismatched eyes, his hands snatching my horns. Lifting me to my feet, his black ornate suit hugged his old man’s body. A strand of white hair fell in front of his face, a scowl forming on his lips.
“I suggest we put such a beast to death, what say you?” He questioned the crowd of villagers, the little girl running up to him. His hand raised to slap her across the face, my trembling hand catching his hand. Silence hung oppressively in the air, the urge to punch him in the face rising like my fiery temper. However that would look poorly on me, they already hated me for the way I looked.
“I refuse to let you hurt those who are smaller than you.” I growled through gritted teeth, turning to the girl. “Run off now, ‘kay. This is an adult matter.” Nodding, she ran off towards her mother. Her expression softened at the sight of me, a grunt tumbling from the man’s lips. Jameson's foot slammed him into the street, my wings folding away. My staff shrank down to the portable size, his strong arms scooping me up.
“Consider that a warning!” He warned dangerously, glancing around at his people. “She is to be my bride, and if anyone else lays a hand on her they will be executed on the spot. Just because she is different doesn’t give you any right to hurt her! She just saved all of you, and you choose to insult her. Let’s go father!” Gazing up at him, my heart fluttered. Tears of rage welled up in his eyes, my blood getting his white general’s uniform red. Hot rage burned on his cheeks, the snarl on his lip turning me on.
“I am getting blood on your uniform.” I stammered, coughing up more blood. The pain hit me twice as hard, tears of pain streaming down my cheeks. It felt as if a train had hit me, his finger wiping away my tears. A cry of anguish exploded from my lips, my nerves jolting with shocks of agony. Passing me a white hankerchief, I held it to my nose.
“Honestly, I don’t fucking care.” He uttered in disbelief, fear ripe in his eyes. “I want you to live, you know so I can keep my position. Besides, who else would challenge me on the daily?” A small chuckle tumbled from my lips, blood dripping from the corner of my lips. Did he still really want me for his crown?
“I thought you loved me or something. You said you did a couple of days ago.” I teased weakly, exhaustion weighing heavily on my eyelids. “Or do you still hate me?” A deep sigh bathed my face with his minty breath, his head shaking.
“I do love you but I have to ask, do you hate me?” He asked nervously, a blush rising to his cheeks. His heart was pounding away waiting for my answer, mine skipping a few beats. Cold sweat dripped down my brow, his nervousness putting me off.
“I think you're alright.” I replied nonchalantly, watching his face fall. “Just kidding, I do love you.” A frustrated scowl formed on his lips, his eyebrow twitching. Emerald chuckled to himself, his green suit swaying in the breeze.
“Listen here, you annoying brat.” He growled irritably, his brows furrowing. “You make me so mad sometimes. I ought to-” My lips pressed against his sweetly, his furious gaze melting to a loving gaze.
“God damn it.” I blurted out, both of our faces flushing a scarlet red. “I don’t know what you do to me, but I want to hate you at times but days like today where you are my hero I love you. So keep saving me and you might just get all of my heart.” Smiling warmly, he kissed my lips passionately, my juices dripping down my leg. Calm down idiot, you can’t do anything until you are married. A sly grin danced across his face, his fingers sliding up under my skirt.
“I know I can’t take your virginity, but I can still play right?” He whispered playfully in my ear. “Be a good girl and act normal.” Nodding yes, his fingers twirled around my clit. His eyes twinkled with excitement, the intense ecstasy making me want to call out his name. He was everything I was expecting him to be.
“Young love.” He mused playfully, his dress shoe clacking towards me. “Your wedding is tomorrow, so you need to heal up. I will put my best nurse on your case. Now sleep.” Protesting did nothing, sweet slumber taking me away to dreamland. An audible sigh from Jameson was the last thing I heard.
