He sat in his office, staring at the mostly blank screen of his computer. The only thing that was on it was a simple message:
“What happened?”
Waiting for a response from the General, Vail sat, hoping that the Angel wouldn’t pull anything quite yet.
He got up at the creaking noise, and Tyied came into his office. As they closed the door behind them, a clump of fluffy black hair fell onto their face. They grunted, brushing the strand away. Afterwards, both Tyied and Vail stood awkwardly in silence.
“…Do you need something?” Vail said after a few moments.
“What was the Angel’s name?” Tyied replied blatantly.
“Did you really come here just to ask me that?” Vail shook his head, “Couldn’t you have asked him yourself?”
Vail said this, though he was quite grateful that at least one other person wasn’t around Ferha.
“I don’t trust him.” Replied Tyied, crossing their arms, “There’s somethings off about him.”
They glance at Vail’s computer screen, which still had his message to the General plastered on it. “And my suspicions have been confirmed.” Tyied continued, “So mind telling me what his name was?”
Vail sighed. There was no convincing Tyied. He usually wouldn’t mind telling them, but considering what Ferha had told him earlier, he didn’t feel that it was safe to do so. And yet, he told them anyway.
“Ferha Alkur-“ he begins, but Tyied cuts him off.
“Wasn’t he executed two years ago?” Tyied’s eyebrows raise.
“What?”
“Two years ago, a man named Ferha Alkur was executed by an Angel for murder. His exact victims were never known, but his pink eyes made it clear.”
“But his eyes are blue-“ Vail stuttered.
“You have your computer, why don’t you look it up? He apparently managed to hide his eye color for almost a year before he was caught.”
Though Vail was still wary, curiosity got the best of him. He sat back into his chair, and began to type Ferha’s name. The first article that showed up was titled in bold letters:
MURDERER OF ATALE GENERAL FELIX VANA CAUGHT AFTER ONE YEAR.
“Oh, they did figure out who he killed?” Tyied said, shocked, “I didn’t know it was one of the Generals.”
Vail didn’t respond. He clicked on the article, and began to read it.
One year ago, Atale General Felix Vana disappeared from his home in the city Fretta. About a month later, his body was found but his killer was not. After a year of searching, they finally found Vana’s murderer. The assassin, Ferha Alkur, was executed a week after being caught. Before his execution, he admitted to the murder of Vana.
Vail finished reading, and they both fell into silence.
“If he was executed,” Vail began, “How was he reborn into an Angel?”
“I don’t know.” Tyied replied.
“It’s not possible.” Vail said, covering his face with his hands.
“Unless-“ Tyied said, deep in thought.
“Unless what?” Vail stood up again.
“Unless he’s being assisted by a god.”
