The cool air in the night made me feel the moment so more vividly. It was nice to have some more company. It wasn't as if James wasn't enough for me. It was just nice to meet more people. See more life views. Tomorrow I would let him know about the couch being delivered. It would be there soon. I got up early the next day. This was the big day. I would get my first assignment. I put on my nicest shoes and clothes. I wore a dress shirt, one of the few I owned. Quickly I ran down the stairs. It was beautiful out. It seemed to be the perfect weather these past few days.
I made my way to one of the biggest days of my life. It held so much importance. I arrived outside the front entrance once more. This time they let me in without any trouble. "Have a good day." I say in passing. I'm not sure where to go, so I head to my office. It's early yet. There are a few people walking through the hallways. None I recognize. I just hoped I wouldn't run into that rude guy. I'd have to keep a look out for platinum blonde hair. As I sat down in the leather chair I felt the adrenaline beginning to form. I was too excited. My chest pounding against my rib cage.
It felt as if it would fly out. And as the thought passed, a second later a person stood in front of the door. "Welcome to your first day. I hope you're prepared to get to work." "Yes, I am." I replied as steadily as I could. I stood up a little too fast and felt some vertigo. "Come this way." I quickly followed in pace behind hime. The door I couldn't get past last time was being held open for me. I stepped into the room and was intoxicated with the smell of old books. They just had a certain fragrance to them. "When you're ready, put your hand on the orb. Don't be afraid to touch it. Some people get a little nervous on their first try.
I gingerly placed my hand on it. The last thing I expected was flashes of the gods through my mind. They were in a heated battle. Lightning was pouring from the sky and rained down onto the land below it. Ther was a storm ranging in the sea ready to engulf anything that came near. War was not even enough a word to describe this vicious battle. It kepy passing through my mind until I snapped back into reality. "You'll have to let me know what you saw. I can't see unless you let me. Your hand must be placed alongside mine to see it." "It was one of the gods." I stuttered. He looked at me with disbelief. "What do you mean?"
He eyed me as if I was lying. "The god who gave us this orb was slain in battle for showing us the universe. It wasn't supposed to be in our hands. These stories are all around the galaxy. It's amazing, and terrifying." He looked even more shocked. "Show me." He said. I put my hand back on top of it. It glowed brightly. Then he did the same. We seemed to be transported to the scene.
