Kenma didn’t have any classes most days. He had his schedule laid out so that he only had three days of classes during the week, the rest of the time was reserved for work. However, on those days he rarely left his room.
Bouncing ball didn’t require so much work, and neither did stock trading. It was just some maintenance every once in a while, as long as he paid attention to the market. Largely he had employees to do a lot for him.
Believe it or not, Gaming is the job that took up the most of his time. There was the actual gaming part that was fun, and streaming was pretty okay. Editing, however, was the bane of his existence. It took hours and hours of sitting at his desk just watching himself play games and cutting out the boring parts.
He usually took at least one whole day a week for editing exclusively. He tends to hyperfocus on that and only that, so he often forgets to eat or drink or just take care of himself in general.
Kuroo would peek his head in every once in a while, he’d bring water (that Kenma refused to drink) and gatorades, in hopes to get something healthy into his body. But he’d give in and bring some form of caffeine as well. He did the same with food.
Kenma would thank him, and then go back to work. He was trying to get this done as quickly as possible. But at night when he finally finished and was able to lay down in bed with Kuroo he couldn’t help the thoughts that came.
“I’m a burden, aren’t I?” He said quietly, burying his face deeper into Kuroo’s chest.
Kuroo isn’t having it, so he pulled away from Kenma to look him in the eyes when he noticed the tears welling. He cupped the smaller boy's cheeks in his hands. “What are you talking about?” His voice was soft.
“You’re always taking care of me,” Kenma spoke. “All I ever do is sit here and play video games. Occasionally I go to school. You come in, you feed me, you water me. I’m essentially a pet at this point-”
“No.” this time his voice was firm. Kuroo was known for being a joker, but when he’s serious, he’s serious. “You’re not a pet. Kenma, I take care of you because I love you. Not because you’re a burden or useless. What you do isn’t just sit around and play video games. You are the CEO of a company, and you make more money than anyone we know. All of our friends are olympic medalists, they make a lot of money. You pay for this apartment, and support me way more than I support you.”
Kenma felt tears begin to stream down his face.
“Kenma, you take care of me most of the time. Don’t you ever think of yourself as a burden. You are the reason for every bit of my happiness, don’t think of yourself like that.”
Kenma sniffled, “You’re lucky you’re cute, cause your eternal optimism is annoying”
Kuroo just laughed, and pulled Kenma into him and held him tight. “Get some sleep, you’ve been working hard,” was the last thing Kenma heard before he drifted into dreams.
