We went past many rooms till we reached the end of a long corridor. Marked on the top was a sign stating that only workers could come in. Well, it said esteemed members but it was just the same. It was just a fancier way to say it. This was an upscale job. "This is where you'll get your first assignment. All will be explained soon." I followed along as we stood in front of a large wooden engraved door. I noticed a golden placard with my name etched on it. "This is your office." He said before I could even ask.
We walked in and he showed me to my desk. It had a glass top with dark stained wooden legs. The chair was a red plush leather with green vines engraved into it. It was a quirky chair. But I loved it. "You'll need to be here early in the morning tomorrow to get ready for the first day on the job. Do not be late. As for the office you may decorate it as you see fit. It is yours." I gave him a warm smile. "Thank you."
"No need to thank me. I was just doing my job." And he walked away. He was all business. I had hoped to get along with him.
Well, I could go have a nice lunch at the corner cafe. "You may have lunch in the lounge if you wish." He called back and then left. I wondered if he could read minds. But that was a foolish thought to have. That was impossible. I walked to the cafeteria and looked at all the delectable food. There were all types of cuisines imaginable. From Italian to Japanese. It was buffet style, but you could also order fresh food too be made. Well fresher because this all looked just recently made. I snagged some fried dumplings and rice. I never had a chance to try food from an exotic place. I also decided a little chocolate cake slice would be a great finish to this meal.
I sat down and took one bite and it was scrumptious. I almost made a moan of enjoyment while eating this. Thank goodness I had enough self control. As I was enjoying my food I noticed the snobby man from before. He was about the same age as me or maybe a little younger. He was a little shorter than me as well. Not that it mattered, Looking my way, he glared at me. I guess this is one person I'm not going to get along with here. I already know what that's like. He did not look much piggy even thought he seemed to have the same personality. He had blonde hair unlike my thick black hair. His eyes darkened with annoyance that I was even in the same space. I shrugged it off and finished up my meal.
As I got up I saw my workmate come over. He looked over and said "I'm surprised they let you in." He was trying to provoke me. I wouldn't let it happen I kept walking and ignored everything he said. This seemed to infuriate him even more. "Don't think you're so great." He spewed. I exited throught the doors and took a deep breath. "Just great." I mumbled. Another piece of crap to deal with.
