They were still at when I looked over. Debating on whether this was a fake paper or not and bickering back and forth like children. That's a lie. Children had more sense. It was clearly marked with the insignia. A red and gold wax mark in the shape of a phoenix. It was quite a beautiful piece of art work if I do say myself. "Just ignore them. They're idiots." He whispered into my ear. "I know. I should get going. I'll see you around." I started to leave but he stopped me.
"My wife is making a great dinner tonight. You should come. I'll meet you outside tonight at the front entrance of the building. That is if you're willing." I pondered about it. It would be nice to spend time with someone that could become a friend. I didn't have very many of them. "Okay. After work then. I'm going to take a quick tour of my office at my new workplace. They said I could come in today if I had the time. It looks like I do now." He mouthed "great." Then I went on my way once more. They were both huffing and puffing in anger as I moved past them. I guess he thinks he can blow down a house with those puffs. He must be practicing.
I snickered at the thought and opened the door into the sun. I kept moving until I reached the entryway of the facility. "Hi, I'm Xavier. The new employee here." They looked at me and had a scrutinizing expression on their faces. Yet, they let me in anyways. "I think I heard about you. I hope you're not lying or I could lose this job." He glared. "I'm not." I said firmly. And I scooted past them into the grand foyer. It mesmerized me every single time. Looking up I finally noticed the glasswork on the windows. Its colors made the shapes of a phoenixes. Their wings spanning and in the midst of flight. I would have never noticed before.
I looked at the ground too much. I should change that. "Hello, you're the new one? Come this way. I'll give you a quick tour and show you the way to your office." I was interrupted from my gazing. He looked at me and motioned to follow him. I kept up as he walked at a quick pace. Down to a narrow hallway and then to a large cafeteria that looked like a fancy restaurant. It served delicious smelling food. I bet it tasted just as good. My mouth began to water. "You're free to dine here as you please between breaks as long as you meet your quota for the day. You'll learn about it on your first official day." I wanted to eat now. I guess I would have to wait because he left through the entrance door and down another hallway. I followed of course. "This is the area where everything is written by us is kept."
It was a huge library. Shelves and shelves of books with leather bound backs sat on top of each other. They were in neat rows and towered along the wall. He must have noticed how awestruck I was because he tapped me on the shoulder. "Come along. There's much more to show you."
All Xavier ever wanted was to be a published author. Unfortunately the association has different plans. Creativity is controlled in his country and punishable by jail time. While he tries to go with the flow, there is something inside his that tells him to fight.
