Much to my surprise, Eloise and Anais kept their promise of being more professional and keeping their insults to a minimum. Because of that, we have been able to get to know each other a little better.
Ramon was extroverted, just like Eloise. He is the oldest of us, so it made sense that he often felt the need to lead the rest of us. He is of Puerto Rican and Costa Rican descent and is also a fellow middle child with an older sister and a younger brother. His family often goes camping and hiking, but they have not gotten the chance to go since the pandemic but plan to go next year. He often told us stories of his solo hikes where he would sometimes go off the beaten path, which I found both adventurous and reckless. Most of his family worked in the medical field. His mother is a nephrologist, his dad is a critical care nurse, and his older sister is doing her residency in radiology. Based on the cat tattoo he has on his arm it was safe to assume he was a cat dad. He told us that his family has three cats. Two Persian cats, Sebastian and Scarlett, and a Bombay cat named Iris, whom he found near the hospital he is training, who is very attached to him.
Much like Ramon and Eloise, Anais was also rather sociable. From what I observed, she could be a bit indecisive. Also, Anais usually compromises during conflicts despite her usual banter with Eloise. Her parents are divorced. She is an only child and lives with her dad. They moved from Toulouse to NYC a few years ago after he got a position at a law firm. She works part-time as a bartender at a hotel in Manhattan and is planning to get her bartending license. Like Ramon, Anais is also a cat lover. She has a British Shorthair Cat named Cleo that she adopted from the cat shelter she volunteers during the summer.
At first glance, Maki seems to be stoic. However, that is not necessarily the case. After being around him for some time, I quickly realized that he was a good listener and conversationalist. He could also be a bit playful and had a tendency to procrastinate sometimes. Like most college students, Maki’s blood type was coffee. One of his moms is a landscape architect. His other mom is a chef who works as an instructor at a culinary institute. His family also has an Irish Water Spaniel named Rio, which he often takes to the park along with his younger sister.
It was nice to get to know them more. I usually maintain a sense of distance when I work on group projects, but for some reason, this time around, it hasn’t been so bad.
