Detective Darrow, Alois finds out right away, is very prepared. Once introductions are finished, he squirrels Alois away to his office cubicle, sits him in a chair, and hands him a folder containing all their gathered evidence. He sits across from Alois and takes a deep breath.
"Yesterday, on January 13 at 2:47 am, a 911 call was made with one of the victim's phone. He reported that he found dead bodies and hung up." Detective Darrow reports. "We're still working on identifying who it is."
Alois flips open the folder, looking through the crime scene photographs. One of them shows the dead body lying on the road, a few feet away from a van.
Taken deep into the night, the flash generates a strong contrast between the surfaces that reflect the light and the deep spaces that create shadows. It gives the photo an eerie finish, making it look like the subjects are floating. Almost. He squints to look closer; there is a faint yellow light from above, most likely from a streetlight.
He turns to the detective, unsurprised to see him already watching him with what appears to be bated breath... "W-"
"One of the deceased, Samael Galagher, is found outside the car. He died due to complications from a severed spine." Detective Darrow cuts in. He clears his throat and leans over Alois, pulling out an image of a man lying down in a fetal position in the third-row seat of the van. Aside from the bloody mess of his chest, he looks unharmed. "The other man, the one on your list, Elliot Merripen, was inside the car. He died due to complications from a gunshot wound."
"Is there an estimate on the time of de-"
"For Elliot, it's roughly on the day before the call, January 12, 9 am to 11 am." Alois is noticing that he's not allowed to finish his sentences. He gives the detective a blank stare. The man continues to speak, oblivious. "As for Samael, it's estimated that on the same day of the call, he passed away sometime on January 13, between 1 am to 2:30 am."
… "I see, thank you." Alois is starting to wonder if this man rehearsed all of this beforehand.
"It's also in the folder."
"I also see that." He's very prepared and very eager; Alois amends.
"No weapon was found at the crime scene yet. I have people still searching the premises, just to make sure. CSI hasn't found gunpowder residue in the car, but it's still at the headquarters for processing. I-"
"Detective Darrow." Alois interrupts the rambling man. Ha. How does it feel?
"Yes, Agent?" The bespectacled man hesitantly replies. Oh, is that a moment of awareness on the man's face?
Alois pauses for a moment, leveling the fidgeting man a stare that he's able to meet this time. He holds it for a few seconds, satisfied to have his attention before he sighs out. "Relax… And breathe. Please."
He appreciates the enthusiasm, but he'd like a word in as well.
"... Was I obvious?"
"Very."
